How do I find if I have background location services? I only use ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION foreground

I'm currently struggling with being compliant with new google play policies regarding localization permission.

I developed an app to call emergency numbers from (almost) any country in the world and I have a feature that allows the user to click on a button to locate himself and display the corresponding emergency numbers of the country he is in.

My issue is that Google sent me an email to reject my app because I quote : "Feature does not meet requirements for background location access".
The thing is : I do not ask for background location access, so I do not know what to do... I ask for "ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION" and I start a service declared as foreground.

Here is my manifest :

Code:
    <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION" />
    <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.CALL_PHONE" />

    <application
        android:allowBackup="true"
        android:icon="@drawable/er"
        android:label="@string/app_name"
        android:roundIcon="@drawable/er"
        android:supportsRtl="true"
        android:theme="@style/AppTheme"
        android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustPan"
        android:screenOrientation="portrait">

        <service
            android:name=".LocationService"
            android:enabled="true"
            android:description="@string/emergency_localization"
            android:foregroundServiceType="location"
            android:icon="@drawable/er"
            android:label="@string/emergency_localization_label"
            android:permission="android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE"/>

        <activity android:name=".MainActivity">
            <intent-filter>
                <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
                <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
            </intent-filter>
        </activity>
    </application>

    <uses-feature
        android:name="android.location.Geocoder"
        android:required="false" />

And the code plugged to the localization button :

Code:
            findMeBtn.setOnClickListener(v -> {
            if (!PermissionNeeded()) {
                DisplayIcon(true);
                locationIntent = new Intent(getApplicationContext(), LocationService.class);
                startService((locationIntent));
            }
        });

I asked for more information to Google, and the only answer was :

"We have re-reviewed your app, but your declared feature still does not meet the requirements to access location in the background because of the following reason(s):

Users may not expect the app to access their location in the background
It is possible to deliver a similar experience without access to location in the background"

Thank you very much Google for being more explicit...

I saw afterwards that I was not stoping the service in the onPause method in the main activity, so I added this and tried to publish it again, but same error, apparently I am still asking a background service permission, without currently asking it ...

Code:
@Override
public void onPause() {
    super.onPause();
    if (locationIntent != null) stopService(locationIntent);
}

@Override
public void onDestroy() {
    super.onDestroy();
    unregisterReceiver(broadcastReceiver);
    if (locationIntent != null) stopService(locationIntent);
}

So I'm pretty sure I'm missing something obvious somewhere, but since I have no idea where to look at, I really need a new pair of eyes on it... I am now losing faith on this app's future...

Thanks a lot by advance !

"git am" error while trying to build an android image

I am not able to build the android image from a script which I procured. I am new to this kind of building operating system images and things.

The following error is coming when the script is running the 'git am --3way' command.

fatal: sha1 information is lacking or useless
Repository lacks necessary blobs to fall back on 3-way merge
cannot fall back to three-way merge
Patch failed at 0001 boot lock access
The copy of the patch that failed is found in:
.git/rebase-apply/patch
When you have resolved this problem, run "git am --continue"
If you prefer to skip this patch, run "git am --skip" instead.
To stop the original branch and stop patching run "git am --abort"

I have tried doing "git am --continue", "git am --skip" and "git am --abort". Still the script is not running past the git am part.

Help Forgot unlock pattern, options?

Hey all, I have an Asus Nexus 7 (2013) which I believe has Android 6. I set an unlock pattern and can't remember it. I've tried over 20 wrong patterns and I do not get the option forgot pattern. I also changed my Wi-Fi network name since I last used the device so it no longer has Wi-Fi access. Is there any way to get into the device without factory resetting? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Help Navigation Gestures Interfere with Keyboard

I have a Samsung S20 FE. When I use the keys at the bottom of the keyboard, they sometimes inadvertently activate the navigations gestures. For example, when I long press the period to get the other punctuation marks like the question mark, the back gesture will activate which kicks me out of the keyboard. It's very frustrating.

I've replicated this behavior with both the Samsung keyboard and GBoard.

Is anyone aware of this behavior? Possible solution?

Thanks.

User does not stay logged into internet forum

Hi, I'm posting this on behalf of a friend that doesn't know anything about the internet (and I'm completely unfamiliar with Android so we're off to a great start! : ). Please let me know if I need to get this thread moved and where to.

He uses the Acmoc.org forum which uses Kunena forum software. His phone is 6 mos. old - I'm waiting for him to let me know what version of Android he uses and whether he uses the Samsung browser or Chrome. What's happening is that he logs into the forum and he checks the "stay logged in" box, but he "always" has to log back in the next time he browses to the forum.
Are there settings that he needs to make to enable his session to stay logged in? We don't have a limit on the server end, and my iOS and the server admin's Android both stay logged in over multiple days just fine.
Thanks for any guidance in advance,
Cheers,
Neil.
