Please help

Can someone please help me? I use Google one to backup my data, including apps. It's always backed up all of them. But recently, the past 2 or 3 backups have only backed up about a third of them. Anyone have any advice? Its so frustrating. I've tried going into my apps and making sure they're all enabled, but that doesn't help. Help!!

Text message app suddenly unable to send image attachments

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S9, model number SM-G965U, running Android version 10. It is not rooted.

The text messaging app I use is simply called "Messages," and it's the default messaging app Samsung and/or T-Mobile included with this phone.

My problem is that when I try to text a pic to somebody, it just sits there with a little ball spinning around to signify the process is, well, still processing. Then, eventually, I get a message telling me the item failed to send. Text messages themselves are able to go through just fine; it's only the image files that are a problem.

I have tried:

Restarting the phone
Connecting to my home WiFi instead of the T-Mobile network
Forcing the app to stop and clearing its cache

What else can I try?

I'm starting the process of suing BLU

I've posted on this forum before and the topic really wasn't going anywhere, as it just became a dumping ground for people to air their grievances
This is my original post: Help - this is reprehensible I despise phones because of this.

While I wasn't happy with some of what was going on, I will say thank you to the people who did reply as on just about any other forum, the topic would have been closed, me labeled as a troll, and banned. So I thank people for actually understanding. So Instead of continuing I left the forum for a while to let things chill. So again that's a personal thank you from me to the people in that thread. That being said, now onto this post

I want to bring people's attention to a few things mentioned in that topic:
1. Why not get another phone
2. Look it up.

Here are the problems with those two statements people love to use as a crutch:
I shouldn't have to get another phone or look anything up nor will I. People saying get another phone or look something up, is nothing but letting company off the hook because they cannot provide instructions on how to use their products. I shouldn't have to look up how to use a basic feature never-mind how to take a picture. That shit is the companies responsibility, NOT MINE.

This mentality people in society have if passing the buck off to people culture can go **** off. A company made the product then they are going to explain it. Pure and simple. A product such as a phone shouldn't be so complex to the point it becomes unusable and create this much grief for a consumer. So Inow seeking a lawyer to sue BLU because this issue goes way beyond the normal issues.

BLU is committing consumer fraud, along with several consumer rights violation and federal protection crimes. Consumers are protected by several laws that BLU and any company like BLU that pulls the same stunt. They've false advertise, they've sold an unusable phone, refuse to address any problems, even blacklist you when you call with problems (While not a crime or violation because of all the other violations, it's one more nail in their coffin).

I cannot get into the specifics of this but this all stems from the entire lack of actual user/instruction manual. On BLU's website they have this:

That is not in any way a user/instruction manual. It's filled with false statements, misrepresentations, and inaccuracies. Case in point, the notification bar is listed as the Google search bar. People try debating this but it's not a debate, in that manual they literally have the Google search bar itself labeled AS the actual notification bar. People tried using their own knowledge to counter argue that but that's what I'm talking about. regardless of what people know how to do, the manual still has it listed incorrectly and that's what this is about.

Due to BLU outright refusing to provide any instructions for their phones, it literally maked it impossible for anyone who purchased one to enjoy or do anything with it I will get into more details about specifics in another topic using videos showing a small portion of the problems.

BLU is a company called Bold Like Us:

The device I'm referring to in this post is a Blue V91 which for some reason changed the name to BLU G91. That model phone of theirs doesn't even do 1/4 of the things it lists on the box.

I'm making videos I need for this case and will be posting them in a new topic as I make them.

For now if anyone has a BLU product and you want to sue them as well once this gets underway you might be able to be added as a defendant. But as for now this company needs to be held accountable and actually have a punishment applied which is what I intend to do.

I will try and keep people updated on what's going on with this.

Galaxy s20 + 5g phone is not reliable

Hello Android experts. About three months ago, I bought a (brand-new) phone for my wife. In all other respects, she finds it quite satisfactory, but there are two things that she wishes could be improved.

1) The most important of the two is that, when she is in a telephone conversation with some people (up to now, it is with two people), the connection is very poor, and many times, it is lost altogether. One of her relatives is in London (we are in Manchester, England) and the other one lives in Hull in Yorkshire. She does not have any problem when she calls other, more local relatives, but today, she needed to borrow my phone (a Motorola) to converse with her son in London. With my phone, she had no difficulties. Why should things be like this, and what, if anything, can she do to make trouble-free calls?

2) The second thing she finds unacceptable is that, when she takes (say) five photos of something (so as to be able to select the best shot), she finds the photo thumbnails are far too small, in her "Files" > Images, to see the details and select the best one. If she looks at the pictures in "Gallery" app, she can see the details because the photos are large, but then, she would need to go back to "Files" > Images to delete, and she is unable to see which is the one to delete, for reasons given above. Is there any satisfactory way round this problem?

Help Lost Microphone

My Galaxy A12SM-A 125U microphone stopped working so I searched for a fix. Every suggestion began with "restart the phone" (which makes sense) but still could not find a fix. I have restarted my phone about 6 times and still no microphone access. I can make and receive phone calls but I can no longer dictate messages and notes. I foolishly decided to reset my phone (BAD idea). Now my microphone still doesn't work and I have to reconfigure my phone which looks like it'll take days; and still no microphone.
Initially I wanted to root this phone but could not get clear instructions. My last phone was rooted (Galaxy S5) and I miss that simplicity.
Would love to root this phone but either way I must fix the mic.

Apps Scraping text from android app to desktop

Hi everybody! I'm working on a project where I want to extract text from an android app to my desktop, and I'm wondering if anyone knows of any libraries/similar projects that I could use. I've searched online but the projects/articles I found mainly seem to concern scraping web traffic to and from a phone, which isn't really what I'm after since the apps I'm looking at store data locally.

Another question I have is about the development of such a feature. Since I've never worked in the android environment I'm not quite sure about the terminology and such, but would using the accessibility features of the phone be a good approach to solving such a problem? I looked at the app "Universal Copy", which seems to have similar functionality to what I'm after and from what I understand that is built on accessibility features.

Hi all, and as before, thanks for your indulgence.

My Moto G7 has been a great phone for me for 3.5 years. Today the camera is making a buzzzz and refusing to focus. The 'civilian level' fixes have not worked, and due to the construction of this phone (the screen has to come off) the repair is likely beyond my ability to successfully execute. So to take it to a shop to have new camera guts, new battery because we're there, and new screen because the old one will likely shatter = $150. That strikes me as kinda on the edge for a 3.5 year old phone.

But maybe not, given the price of new ones.

But maybe so? I don't need (or want) anything expensive. My priorities are:

Good call quality - I still use it as a phone
Good battery life - two days is better than one
Not huge - don't want anything bigger than the 6" screen I have, and would prefer smaller
Ability to use Brave browser, so maybe that eliminates the Pixel models
Sub $300 price if possible

I don't think I need 5G, and I'm pretty sure I don't even want it. Do I need it?

My G7's camera quality was adequate for my needs.

I'm not a gamer.

Samsung and I are not friends; I enjoy the 'closer to stock Android' experience of motorola.

A rugged phone might not be a bad idea, as my motorcycling GPS just croaked and I could make the phone help me there. I know nothing about the DOOGEE, Uniherz, and Blackwing phones available on Amazon. Good? Bad? Ugly?

I'm in the Verizon world.

Thanks for any ideas, and if the best idea is 'repair the phone ya got,' that's actually easiest.

First Impressions: Motorola RAZR+

"RAZR+" is the name of the U.S. version of the phone known internationally as "RAZR 40 Ultra" - I don't know why they renamed it for this market. If you've watched any of the unboxing videos, they often show a clear case included. There was no case with mine, nor was it listed in the box contents. Maybe the Ultra version included one and that's what the early reviewers received? In any event, a case is definitely needed. Early reviewers rave about the red RAZR+, as it's the only one with a "vegan leather" back cover, supposedly making it grippier. IMO, it doesn't make any difference. The phone is slippery in the hand without a case, but that's because the sides (where you're actually holding it) are slick. The material on phone back is irrelevant!

Rather than rehash topics that have already been covered in the numerous online videos, I'll comment on items I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere.
  1. Answering calls: You can answer an incoming call with the phone open or closed. If it's closed, you'll see the typical Android slide-to-answer screen on the outer display, and the call will be automatically placed in speaker-phone mode. If you prefer privacy, just open the phone and the call will be automatically answered. Likewise, to end a call, close the phone. BTW, I suggest resisting the urge to open the phone by flicking your wrist (ala a Star Trek communicator). The hinge seems solid and robust, but I think snapping it open in this manner continually would take its toll. When open the phone is open it is more than 6.5" tall, so there's a lot of leverage being exerted. Caveat emptor!
  2. The primary (inner) screen is gorgeous! The resolution and refresh numbers didn't mean much to me, but seeing is believing. If you watch a 4K video with a personal close-up, you can see peach fuzz on a child's face! I loaded some high-res images from my previous phone, a Pixel 5, and they were noticeably clearer and more detailed. This really makes the user experience enjoyable.
  3. External display: Every video I've watched shows the resizing bar, which can be swiped up to move the viewable area above the camera cutouts. This is useful when using an app that has text or buttons that would be obscured by the cutouts. Unfortunately, I use the old 3-button ("< o ") navigation rather than gestures. I ride a motorcycle, and gesture navigation was constantly being activated while riding. The reason I said it was unfortunate is because using the button navigation is mutually exclusive with being able to resize the external screen - it's always above the camera cutouts with 3-button navigation. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of.
All things considered, I'm glad I got the phone. The small folded size lends itself to being placed is shallow pockets without fear of falling out. You can also use the phone partially open and it acts as a tripod for video conferencing, etc. My wife is so impressed that she is switching from iPhone to get her own RAZR+. I never thought I'd see the day she would switch from Apple!

Motherboard Upgrade to Run Modern Android?

As most of you know: When an Android computer (and smartphones are handheld computers) is too old, it won't get Android updates anymore.
To run the latest Android, you usually need to get a new computer. But why's that? Why not just replace the motherboard? Why aren't there new motherboards sold for old computers, new motherboards which allow the computer to run a modern version of Android?

Help tcl tab pro 5g FRP authentication loop

We purchased this device as a trial for our device deployment. We installed an MDM, MaaS360, and did a full wipe. We initialized via QR code and set up the policies. Then we did a 2nd wipe of the device via MaaS360 to test it with a fresh install. I got to the google verification screen to bypass the FRP. We authenticate, the device populates in our Google account then asks for verification over and over again. After each verification attempt, we got a message along the lines of "please use your the device owners account" or something like that. I don't remember the text. However as I noted, the device populated in our google account. It sent out the verification via MFA to us. We tried it via email, text, and notification on other device.

I performed a factory reset multiple times via button input. No change. We called MaaS360, Verizon (our carrier/salesman) & TCL tech support. MaaS360 was able to confirm that the wipe went through successfully, but couldn't offer device support (understandable). Verizon said call the manufacturer. The manufacturer offered to fix it, but it would take a month (shipping time and queue). We politely declined and returned the device.

So my questions revolve more around what could have caused this and preventative measures.

1. What are some things that can cause this? It seemed to recognize the verification since it populated in the google account. I know MaaS360 could potentially cause this issue, but we have used the above process hundreds of times on other devices. This has never happened before.

2. Is this a known issue on android itself? Are there work arounds to reduce the likelihood of this. (Explained better below, but MaaS360 deletes the associated work profile prior to wiping the device. In addition, the profile cannot be removed on the device while under MDM control)

3. Is this possibly a flaw inherent in this model, or is it more likely just a flaw in this individual device.

4. What is the likelihood that this is just a weird fluke?

Some Context.
1. I work for an organization. We don't want to use a lot of 3rd party software to fix issues that shouldn't be issues. So, I'm not looking for hacks or software solutions. We have to service too many devices. If it doesn't work as advertised, we're not overly interested.

2. One of the apps we use has a list of like 10 devices that it supports. The TCL tab pro 5 is one of them. The others cost much more than we are wanting to pay for. So I am hoping, this is a one off incident. Also, there is no easy way to replace the app. It ties into a much larger system that we have invested too much money into to replace. At least not for a tablet issue. It'd be more cost efficient to purchase the higher dollar devices, even over the long term.

3. MaaS360 creates a work profile account on the device, but ties it to our master google account. The device itself does not see the master account from my understanding. When MaaS360 wipes the device, it deletes the work profile and then wipes the device.

4.I am by no means an expert in Android nor MaaS360, so some of my assumptions could be wrong.

Help Factory reset Galaxy Tab A7 Lite 8.7 help!

I have a client's Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite 8.7, Model SM-T220 that I had to do a factory reset on because they do not remember the password and cannot do a reset because they do not have access to the recovery email or phone. After the reset, it still requires an unlock pattern on login to the account to finish the reset. Is there any way around this?

pre alarm tone plays before chosen alarm song starts

I'm using the clock app that came with my android. all my alarms and timers play a loud tone when the alarm goes off, immediately before my chosen song plays. it's like a "bong bong bong bong" sound, then the chosen song starts. I have my alarms set to get gradually louder but it's useless when the loud bonging sound goes off first. I can't figure out how to get rid of it.

Do Knock-Off Phones Deserve their Unsavory Reputation?

There are cheap Android phones available that are meant to look like more popular brands (most notably iPhones). My understanding is: Those knock-off phones are looked down upon. But is that unsavory reputation really deserved? If you make a phone with the same dimensions and all as an iPhone (for example), then iPhone cases and many other iPhone accessories will work with it.

To be clear: I'm talking about knock-offs, not counterfeits! When an Android phone has an Apple logo on the back, when it reports in the settings that it runs iOS, etc.: That's unacceptable.
