Iphone 4 vs HTC Incredible

Keep in mind that the more improvements they make to iPhone, the even more we get in Android. The next level of Android phone will be awesome, and most likely only a few months away. Not year (or more) away like the next iPhone.

When the guy reviewed the Incredible on its own, he actually had lots of good things to say about it.

He did come to several odd conclusions on the ties though...

Here's how I would review them on the same comparison points:

screen: iPhone
aesthetics: tie
battery: iPhone
storage: tie
camera: iPhone
features (he's basically comparing some exclusive apps): Incredible
internet: Incredible
keyboard: tie
interface navigation: Incredible

Final Result: TIE

(Actually, the interface navigation should probably be a tie in which case the iPhone gets the edge.)

The IP4 does have superior hardware, but within the next month or so, the next wave of super high end android phones will be released, and then all those people who are touting their superior hardware will no longer be the best. 1 phone a year is unfortunately not enough any more. Not when they have umpteen competitors just throwing new hardware out the door.

EVEN WINDOWS got that part right with the new Winmo7. (Hate apple but will always have a soft spot for windows) ***Proud Inc owner....

I agree. Make navigation a tie, but also make battery a tie. His lasts longer, I can change mine.

It is worse than that. The Inc does not really have a 800X480 resolution due to the type of oled tech used. Inc looks far less sharp than the even the Moto Droid, yet alone a higher res device. Small text is the easy litmus test.

I luv my Inc, but my previous Droid and N900 both have LCD displays and are far sharper than the Inc. Inc has true blacks and is more vivid, so it is a trade-off.
Exactly, and yet that poster is trying to compare apples to oranges. And, I agree with you on your latter statement. IMO, it is personal preference in terms of text clarity versus color saturation. I love the vivid colors that AMOLED can provide

I have the Dinc and my gf has the iPhone4. Hardware wise her iPhone 4 is pretty sweet but the OS is lacking in comparison to Android. The iPhone's Internet experience lags in comparison of the Android, especially when it comes to Flash support. I don't think I'd upgrade to an iPhone4 from my Dinc if the option was available.

Poor iPhone 4 signal? You're holding it wrong, Jobs says - Yahoo! News

If like people are saying the iphone screen is more readable than the incredible in sunlight, wouldn't taking pics with them in sunlight show the iphone coming out better. I'm not saying the incredible has better resolution because it doesn't. The iphone has more resolution on a smaller screen, it would only make sense it has better resolution. What I'm saying is it looks like you have the phones set at different brightness levels, because the only time I have seen my incredible look like that is with the brightness set to minimum.

As far as me switching to Apple, not gonna happen. I have had two ipods, and both of them conveniently failed at around 18 months. That just seems a little fishy. The other reason is their boss. When a disgruntled new iphone4 customer emailed Jobs about the signal loss issue (fingers or hand touching the metal band/antenna) he received a response and posted it on the net. Phonedog & Engadget were both shocked at how arrogant the response was.

Customer: "When I put my hand on the steel bands" of iPhone 4 "I lose all reception."

Steve: "Just avoid holding it in that way."

I'm sorry, but if I were to pay $200 or more for a phone, have a problem and get that type of response, I'd return it and switch carriers. There was no "sorry to hear about that" or "we'll look into it" or even "we know and are attempting to fix the problem". Some are saying that the issue is bogus and they should just send out an OTA fix that just shows more bars regardless (yahoo news story). Then what's the point of the signal indicator? In their official response, Apple says one solution is to get one of their many cases which will eliminate the skin touching the antenna. If there is a $30 fix, they should offer them free. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than a recall and someone who shelled out that kinda money for the phone should not have to shell out more to make it function like it's supposed to in the first place.

You may bring up the same signal issue with the Incredible, but I live in a remote area of South Dakota, on the fringes of their signal, and I've yet to have any serious signal issues with mine. I'll stick with HTC or maybe go back to Motorola the next time I upgrade, but Apple just won't happen.

Haha, the whole review consisted of, "I really like how The Incredible does _____, but I'm going to have to give the edge to the iPhone 4 cause I'm an iPhone user".

And just a thought, when you're comparing a 3.5 screen at 960x640 to a 3.7 screen at 480x800, wouldn't you think there'd be a noticeable difference between the two? It all comes down to preference, personally I love my Incredible screen.

Just saw my first iPhone4 today, I caught a glimpse and expected to be blown away by Its beauty, but I saw it and was like meh, it just looks like another Iphone in person, and thats a real shame cause I was a real fan of the design until just now.

I like the Incredible's screen because it's bigger and it is at 16:9 ratio. Better for watching videos on both YouTube and from the card. On the iPhone you have to pick between black bars above and below and cutting out some of the outside of the frame. I'd rather not have to make that decision because both of those options piss me off haha.

I don't think battery is a tie, yes you can change out the DI battery but stock for stock so far the Apple blows away the DI in the battery department. I'm really impressed from what I've heard so far about the Iphone battery life. And I think the Incredibles battery life is good enough w/ seidio1750 lol

I can't compare the battery on the I4 (don't have one), but my jailbroken 3GS ate through the battery like it was candy, especially when I had the multitask app running.

yea from what ive seen on my friends 3gs... he basically used the phone with a cord attached most of the time... so maybe they have good standby time but if you are gonna use an iphone it doesnt last that long... he jsut got a iphone 4 yesterday so ill see how long his lasts eventhough he is a hardcore apple person so he is biased(3 or 4 macbook pros)

my 3gs lasted all day. I charged it every night when I slept. my Dinc I have to charge 2x per day. This is with the same usage between the two.

I love my Incredible, but you cant get rid of the fact the iPhone 4 has a better screen in the technical factors. But, as others have stated the Incredible's larger AMOLED screen does not look bad at all, it just so happens the iPhone 4's smaller screen looks better.

The iPhone's screen is going to look clearer and sharper no matter how you slice it. Even if they were the same size, the higher resolution would still give it an edge. The closest comparison would be to have them both be the same size and have the same resolution, and then it would just be up to AMOLED technology to the IPS LCD technology.

And big deal if the screen looks somewhat better then any other phone currently. The Incredible's screen looks amazing on its own.

It's an apples-to-oranges comparison. With the Dinc, you might have apps/processes running in the background you never even knew existed. The 3GS was very "WYSIWYG", nothing much running in the background and even pushed data was a relative novelty.

not when it was jail breaked. guy above had multi task running on his. I had widgets running on my lock screen. Regardless, my DINC will not make it any where near a day on a charge like my 3gs did.

I just got to spend a few minutes with my friends I4. First impression: ugly, squarish and fingerprint magnet front and back. Don't drop this thing! Ever! It looks like you would have a 120% chance of breaking something.

So Upon turning it on I'm greeted with the same old boring os as my 3G...oh wait, wall paper....static non the less and a slanted lower shelf...well that makes it much better.

The display is clear, granted, text was easily readable, but it has some strange greenish tint to everything that next to my Inc. frankly looked odd. I would like to spend more time with it, but wasn't able to ATM.
