***Official "I will have my Droid X in my hands at such and such date" thread***

I saw a unboxing video by a reviewer and the first thing in the box was instructions for returning the phone to Verizon.

I think I saw a reviewer say something along them lines, I don't know if he said he had to return to Verizon but he had to ship it out somewhere.

thats why i paid with my cc, if it does not work out when trying to activate on my account monday i will just dispute the charge, no worries. great if it works, little downer if it does not. i just wont ship my Dinc that already sold on ebay until i find out on monday

Did the seller say anything after you bought it besides the tracking number?

not really, i just sent a message asking if he knew anything about it being a loaner, not really expecting an accurate answer though. I will call to replace my Dinc on monday and see what the rep says.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, I don't think people reviewing the phones would sell a phone they have to return. If you do indeed actually get the phone then I think you will have no problems.

I agree because if they had to send it back im sure it wouldn't be worth it if they didnt send it back and had to pay for them to sell on ebay

I think the reviewers have to give them back because they only need to phone for a week or so to do a review then they have to give them back. A developer on the other hand gets to keep it like what happened with the Evos

I just checked eBay and the second phone is up to $660. I think I can wait a few more weeks to get a brand new one directly from a VZW store.

There's also a seller (who claims to be an authorized reseller for Verizon) taking pre-orders for $250 (if you are new customer or eligible for upgrade). I would not take him up on the offer though because you can pre-order at Best Buy and only pay $199 if you are eligible.

How does one handle returns if you buy a phone on eBay and it turns out to be a lemon?

^ Sell it to some other rube. I bought a V3m off of ebay and it was a total lemon. Luckily the guy i dealt with took it back and refunded me no problem. YMMV though greatly.

$150 actually with the gift card you get for preordering.

Well someone just outbid me and Im definitely out. It's at $750 right now!

Btw I called Verizon about insuring this phone and they said Asurion wouldn't insure it so yeah Im definitely not putting up anymore money for this thing. Just going to wait till the 15th like everyone else!

Well, nothing to worry about any more. Got the DX in my hands, activated and with a little card that states, "Motorola would like to extend a spacial thank you for attending our event. You are one of the first to own a DROID X by Motorola. We hole you enjoy your gift." so needless to say this is not a loaner phone. I will play with it today and put up some real world thoughts as the day goes on. I dont write reviews but will test. I have recently had the N1, 3GS, and DI so got a pretty fair group to compare against.

glad everything worked out. is it possible for you to see if the bootloader is signed? It still hasn't been verified yet.

Congrats on your purchase! Looking forward to your thoughts on the lagyness PC World talked about. Also how's the quality and size appear to you?

Looking forward to the release next month. Of course then it's the wait for the release of Android 2.2 in august.... (I hope)

Patiently/Impatiently waiting for the release of the Croid X!
