I guess some ppl had a wifi problem.

Mine was fine though , getting 15Mps download on my 20Mps broadband = perfect

It was a reception issue, not a speed issue. The reception strength of the device was weak - this update is supposed to correct it.
 
Settings>System updates>HTC Software Update.

Takes a few minutes for the update to complete. Don't know what it did. Supposed to fix wifi issues, but I still cannot connect to my N router.
 
A warning for anyone that does the update !!!!

I downloaded and installed the update with no problem. I wanted to update my profile and prl after the update. Accidently, I tapped htc update (rather than prl update) and the EVO showed the same available update. I was suprised to see this was still available since the install just completed, so I selected the option to install (a second time) I figured that there should be no harm in installing the update a second time (worst case would be that I'd just be installing the same thing) and boy was I wrong. After the update started, I put the EVO to the side and let it do it's thing. I didn't pay attention until 10 minutes or so later when I noticed the EVO had shut down. Now, my phone is completely bricked. It won't start up, won't register when the charger is plugged in...nothing.

I tried pulling the battery, starting it up in the bootloader mode (holding the down volume while hitting the power button) I even tried pulling the mini SD card and nothing seems to work.

Right now I've got the EVO on the charger under the crazy assumption that the phone is kind of acting as though the battery was completely drained and it takes 15 or so minutes on the charger before it starts responding again....that is the ultimate shot in the dark !

In retrospect, reinstalling an update that I just installed was not the greatest idea so I take accountability for that decision.

However, there is no way that reinstalling a software update should brick the phone. Ideally, I should not have been told that there was still a software update once it installed successfully. If that doesn't happen, the update should clean up any previous install attempts before reinstalling.

As I mentioned, I'm the one that did the 2nd install. Had I not done that my phone would not be bricked. This is more of a warning to others to avoid my mistake !

That being said, I've never had an update for any device I've had that has been more destructive. It was my mistake to update again, but poor programming on HTC's part that the phone could be bricked by doing so.

Frankly, I'm skeptical about this "wifi" fix. Just because the phone is reporting a stronger signal doesn't mean it's actually receiving one.

I've put this thing up against iphones and it gets the same range. The only difference is that iphones report 1 or 2 bars while this reports none, just a dot. You're getting good range, you're just thinking you're not because of how the UI displays snr.

It looks like they fixed this in this version. I see two bars now when I usually see one or none.
 
Okay so after I recieved the update my phone had an error msg and that I needed to re install. Now it is a brick!
 
i updated about 45 minutes ago and not only did the phone revert back to HTC Sense UI after i have been using it on stock android 2.1. but all my app icons in the 5 home screens are gone. why did this update just wipe everything i had done before?

now, i try to disable Sense and it wont let me. it wont let me clear default and when i force stop it says it stops but then it opens right back up again. after force stop i press home button from the home screen and no option for "launcher" comes up as it did when i originally disabled Sense on my phone.

anyone have ay suggestions?

Just for S&G i searched again for the update and it said " Your phone is up to date: There are no updates available for your phone"

Sounds like something messed up on yours, sorry man.
 
So so far this is what the update fixed.

-Signal fix for Wi-Fi, Reception Fix.
-update includes 802.11N support
-grounding issue fix

I think they've wiped out the stock launcher in the update.


Check out Launcher Pro or ADW Launcher as a possible replacement.

well -1 for this update then. the phone does feel snappier and im positive it did more good than bad but now i lost stock 2.1 and all the apps i put on my home screens, which dsnt seem like a big deal but it took a lot of time, lol.
