System Upgrade 1.47.651..1 (21.43 MB) Now Available

Ok you guys have me real scared about updating. I really cant have a paper weight right now. Should i wait and see if htc fixes these issues? My phone is perfect and i dont want a refurb after the phone possibly bricks.
That's why a lot of big updates are pushed on Monday's. They can fix stuff. If you feel the need or worry, then wait until tomorrow. Their will undoubtedly be a steady stream of people posting on this thread reporting the progress...

I don't think anyone has had any issues on their first update. It's those that did a second update (myself included) that now have bricked phones

Here's something i noticed after the update.

I always kill off the gtalk service. Every 3 minutes gtalk service starts up again.

whack..

Mine hung on the HTC EVO 4G screen for maybe 5-10 minutes but eventually continued. I also had the widget issues on most of my 3rd part widgets (as well as the sense caledar widget) but once I remebered which ones were missing, replacing them was easy. I never saw the grounding issue that some did, so I notice nothing there, but moving around does seem a little faster now. Task manager still takes a long time to display the list of apps though.

Excellent point ! I think your right on the money about it requiring a few minutes before detecting the new version.

Patience is a virtue and a lack of patience ( and piss poor development by HTC) bricked my phone :)

I concur... waited for about 10-15 minutes and performed an "HTC Software update" and the notification to install the update for the second time went away.

DFW.

Took about 10 minutes to download, 15 to complete the update. Live wallpaper was still there, but the Android papers are gone. :(

Lost widgets for Voicemail, The Weather Channel, YouTube. Just deleted and added them back - no biggie.

Only had the phone a few days, but it does seem pretty snappy.

I had unrEVOked installed, just ran the update over the top of that. Had to re-run after the update, and now my root apps work just fine.

No big deal here. :)

Good to hear... guess Ill re-run my unrevoked to get my wireless tether back :D

Now... about those android wallpapers :/

Yeah, the updates trash a few gadgets on the screen. I lost my BatteryLife and my Voice Mail widgets (actually, they were there, but instead of the icon, there was some difficult to read text that said 'problem loading gadget'). I just re-added them. I had to remove and re-install the BatteryLife widget from the App Market though...it wouldn't run anymore.

Other than that...very smooth.

I just did the upgrade on my ver 2 launch day Evo and after it finished it booted up fine, went back to the upgrade screen and it said it still had an update to do so I continued. Long story short my Evo never booted back up.

Just went to a Sprint store and got a brand new on ver 3 no grounding issue etc, now I have to send the one I get from Sprint.com back to the, ill just refuse UPS delivery.

Now im real nervous to do the update to my new ver 3.

45 minutes...nothin'. (after several battery pulls on my own)

For the record, this happened on the first update. I did go through the install screens, it might have rebooted once during the black screen/android installation process - wasn't entirely paying attention. I did see it reboot to the white HTC screen, figured it would take some time, left it for 15 minutes or so, and it never rebooted again.

I have hope since I can at least boot to the bootloader...but the hope is fading.

Anyone else noticing faster 3G speeds? My 3G is normally extremely slow... And now it's down: 400-500kbps up: 300-500kbps - a huge improvement from before.

I've got the big brick. When I picked up the phone during the install I think I hit a button and its completely dead. Saddening

My install is done and everything is fine. Just have to reload widgets. My android wallpapers are gone too. :(
