I wouldn't say they are lying around somewhere, but maybe they are at certain stores or places. Maybe if you walk through the right door and ask about the X you win. IDK, but I still don' think they are just lying around outside somewhere.

All of these clues really, really, really suck. Okay, I'll analize the clues relating to Droid Designate #6:
It's in Florida. ("The missing Droid X phones aren’t going anywhere else. Unless someone finds them before you.")
Start at Key's and head up [north]. ("Droid X designate #6 spotted! This one is pretty far south. Head for the keys then work your way up.")
Well...The "Key's" are the farthest south you can possibly get in the state of Florida which, as I mentioned, is the 4th largest state east of the Mississippi river. So, according to the clues known so far, it could be ANYWHERE in the state of Florida, except the Key's.
We have no idea what we're even looking for, and we're expected to find it with these clues?
I don't like feeling like someone's making a fool out of me, and that's rapidly how I'm feeling.
This isn't exciting. This isn't fun. This isn't a scavenger hunt. This isn't geocaching. This is beginning to get annoying. Either don't give clues or give clues. But don't toy with us. And, certainly don't make us feel like you're disrespecting us.

Whoa! Whoa! Take 'er easy there! Don't you think they are gonna play this out for max exposure? Sure! Some people will get tired of the BS, and the longer it goes on, two things will happen. Some people will just say screw it and move on, while other people coming late to the game will still have a shot. It sucks for the early birds to be strung along, but what incentive do they have to be done with it quickly. Patience, my friend, patience! But, if their last tweet was the truth, and not a lie, that means that every minute that passes increases the odds that either someone with no idea about this obscure contest will find the Droid X's and every minute that goes by increases the chances for corruption. I see this turning into another McDonald's Monopoly contest where friends of employees walk away with the Droids...
If the phones/whatever really are out in the field and are not being moved/picked up by anyone officially...they have not given any clues that could be used to find them. I doubt I'll be the only one who gets angry if they are all found by people who never followed Droidlanding at all. I'd be upset if any more than 50% of the phones were found by people not following Droidlanding.

Now that I think about it, I highly doubt it will be at ANY Verizon store. This is because a few days ago I already went to a local corporate store and "reserved" a Droid X for July 15th. All the stores already know about it, so it's pretty farfetched that they'll give away a free Droid X if someone comes in and just asks about it, even if they mention DroidLanding.

Ok, so a couple of things. I was one of the first to sign up and follow the twitter account...over 12,000 people have joined since then! I, too, will be pissed
if followers are not the "finders" of these phones. Also, several people have suggested that it's not an actual phone, but a certificate or voucher that would get you the phone (maybe online via a special code?). Depending on what it is, the average schmuck walking by it may never notice it. Who really knows? Like you said, we don't even know what we're looking for. What we do know is that they should be found before launch which is just over 2 weeks away. I'm suspicious that this weekend will be huge for this. Let's see.Oh, and if there are only 12, I'm betting the average VZW Store rep won't know what this is. It MAY have something to do with the "select" stores that closed early this past Sunday - grasping at straws here. If you find "it" you can only go to X location to redeem it (pun intended).

Still waiting on some real clues. I still believe that their is some sort of "code" that you find instead of a physical phone. The code would be used to get the actual phone somehow. If it is a physical phone, it would have to be in the possession of a live person, as the weather is too extreme for them to just hide a box somewhere.
We can speculate all we want, but no one really knows at this point what we are looking for. I keep thinking about the comment made by the Motorola rep, "... some people will be holding their Droid X's and looking up at fireworks" and I feel like the better clues will start coming in the next few days...

Oh, and if there are only 12, I'm betting the average VZW Store rep won't know what this is. It MAY have something to do with the "select" stores that closed early this past Sunday - grasping at straws here. If you find "it" you can only go to X location to redeem it (pun intended).
I doubt it would be a voucher. On Jun 23 at 2:00 PM Droidlanding tweeted "Here's how it goes. You find a Droid X out there. You pick it up. You turn it on. And everything changes." Seems from this post its an actual phone.

Well, I live right here at Miami, and won't ya know it i was at key west yesterday... Didn't see anything though 
So I google mapped all of VZ stores in miami, and called every store going north of Keyn west to Fort Lauderdale. No one new what i waz talking 'bout. I asked if they have a very special Droid X- when they said no it's coming out July 15th I asked if they are sure no runaway droid x's came their way and still got no. I than google stuff and went looking at places I found online with my son and found nothing.
I will look for one as soon as I get it I can start playing with it and get ROOT (maybe
). Imagine how great this phone can be running Gingerbread

I'm cashing in a favor from a friend in Homestead, FL today. (between the Key's and Miami) And, he's going to do some driving between the keys and Miami today to see if he sees anything.
But, as I said...even Pensacola, right next to Alabama, is "up from the Keys." And that's over 700 miles or 11 hours "up from the keys" by car......

Still. In Miami where it rains every day during this time you need to have a few options.
If we are looking for a box it has to be a sealed one. Can't be somewhere high/ dangerous to get to since VZ won't want anyone hurting themselves getting it.
Might be WITH someone/ Van/ Office. You find it, you get it from them (pick it up) and start using it means it might be at a store where u/ they can instantly enable it.
I wish someone would find one so we can get a clue as to where to look

That's half the problem. Nobody seems to know if they're actually in place yet. People may already have been to the correct locations and ruled them out as they found nothing. I still don't think anything like this would stay in place for long before disappearing. If it is in a secured location in the possesion of someone else, I'm sure they've been instructed to play stupid until a specified time.

Has anybody realy paying attention yes most are at universities #1 greatest power since hover dam. How about Nevada State College Nuclear Program. Designate #12 clue #12 found its robot eye in buckeye state. where do you think they made the first robitic eye for humans. Ohio State University. Designate #3 is in Cali. Thanks guys, but according to droidlanding they are in place. I agree that they won't stay there in the street so I do think they are at a store or with a VZ van/reps. Keep ur eyes open. For me to drive to the key west is 3 hrs one way... Did it yesterday
