"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Maybe along the same line, are there any famous rocks in ohio?

I did find this...
[FONT=Times New Roman,Times][SIZE=+1]Perhaps the most highly coveted and sought after mineral from Lime City is the classic amber brown Fluorite. Although, good Fluorite specimens from any Ohio locality command high prices, in general, complete Lime City Fluorite crystals of any size are typically more valuable. The logical reason being, dark brown Fluorite crystals occasionally occur in most quarries throughout the Findlay Arch District. However, these more amber colored crystals are fairly uncommon and knowledgeable collectors seek out the more unusual colors for Ohio Fluorite.

or here from the site its self.... you dont have a choice but too ROCK!!!

"Cleveland, the Nation’s best kept secret in rock n' roll is proudly home to not just the iconic Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, but the only Hard Rock located in Ohio. Can you say Cleveland Rocks!

Think about it! That's twice the rock memorabilia of most medium-sized American cities! Not too shabby. For added amusement you also get the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and the Great Lakes Science Center, and be sure to visit the Terminal Tower Observation Deck from which you can watch the city's skyline change from 42 floors above street level.

The Hard Rock Cafe Cleveland is located in Tower City in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of Progressive Field and The Q Arena. Devoted fans of the Indians and Cavaliers rock the house year round, and now you can, too!"

You all may have found these obvious, but I wanted to add this input.

"The enhanced vision of Droid X would be the perfect tool to help you find one. Ironic."

Assuming you have an android this is most likely the "Layer" application.
YouTube - How to use Droid Layar reality browser

So, if you are Near where you think it is, you best get this app out and start swinging your droid around rather than digging under rocks.

Also, for the truly involved, let's keep this map updated.

Find Droid X! - Google Maps

dont forget its south of nebraska..... Droid X designate #5 has been reported south of Nebraska. Way south. Start your engines.

#5 warmer climate (then again, so is #7 which is now in the Pac NW??)
#5 way south of NE - start your engines (Texas Motor Speedway?)
#5 in a state as big as the 4.3" screen (BIG = Texas)

I still have to wonder where stanw5007 went. Maybe he found a ghost and is in another "layar"

I'm going to go check the speedway tonight after I get off work. The hints for 5 wouldn't still be coming if it were found already. Plus one of the previous hints said they are all at their locations and wouldn't be moving unless someone found it. So I'm hoping that Ill have better luck than everyone else that's looked there

just in-case no one thought of these...

What ever happened to the Guy that was going to check that out last night? Can someone at a full computer Send him a PM? I'd do it, but I'm posting from my Droid...

anyone check out kansas speedway? kansas has more of the 16:9 shape than texas and while not huge is still a decent sized state.

i thought kansas too...but its on the far right of the sate...close to missouri...not wayyyy south

Yeah but if people are going to check the RRHOF 4-5 times and the Texas Motor Speedway 3-4 why not check Kansas once? Who's to say way south doesn't mean 5 miles south? It's all relative...

I've been following this thread but registered just to post this -- I strongly believe that #5 is at one of the racetracks in or near San Antonio. The main reason being that the first clue was:

ATTN: Droid designate #5 escaped secure location 6 hours and counting. Witnesses noticed it heading in a southern direction.

There is a large Verizon Wireless corporate office in Richardson TX that is not marked on Google Maps. You can find it by searching for "bank of america home loans richardson tx" and clicking on result B (on Glenville Dr.). Put a Street View guy right where (B) is and then go south a few clicks and you can see the Verizon sign and a large driveway to your right. (Sorry, I'd post a link but Google Maps doesn't generate URLs anymore and searching for the exact address for some reason puts you on the wrong street on the other side of the block)

If you then Google maps directions to San Antonio or one of the speedways/racetracks listed above, you will find that it's roughly 5-6 hours south of the aforementioned Verizon office.

The remaining clues about #5 (Warm climate, big state, way south, start your engines) corroborate this idea.

So if anyone lives in/near San Antonio or a little bit further south and can visit one of the race tracks there, I think it'd be a good place to check.

I'm hoping one will be close to Virginia Beach -- maybe at least DC. That's not that far. I wish clues would start coming out for some of the other ones....

I went to TMS and spent about 2 hrs out there. They were not in the locations I thought they might be. So I probably hit about 1/8 of the speedway w/ my infrared. And nothing. I'm beginning to think that there will be more clues that might narrow it down a little more. It's so big out there it will take a couple of days to scan the area w/ all the equipment. I might go back tonight. Undecided though. Maybe with a diferent infrared cam that works better w/ light differential rather than temp.

Any ideas of where to check out there let me know. I live like 10 - 15 min from TMS so it isn't inconvenient at all to swing by. Sorry for the late posts. Had a busy day of work.

Dang -- Well I guess I'll just have to help you since you were here first.

We can help each other out. I'm sure there's a few other Hampton Roads people following the twitter account, maybe we can find one for us androidforums.com guys :)

Where in Va Beach are you? I'm in Glenwood.
