"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

For the person who said enhanced vision meant it should be found at night because the x has duel led flash.....um the original droid does too. I think it can be found day or night

The clue didn't say the x was the only one with enhanced vision...

And I didn't say only night...maybe a dark place needing "enhanced vision" to find it...

They posted about #16....which means there are now at least 16 hidden phones.....increasing my chances of getting one!

I know, I shoot random tips here and there. But I think the best bet would be to focus on the ones we have the most tips for. Focus Hard, until we find it and know what we are looking for.

We have the most clues for 1,5,12, and probably another for 4 soon.

Who is near these locations? Let's get a count and get these guys better prepared.

Be sure to check here often, we have a load of guys checking on-site so don't miss out.

Droid Locations Where is Droid X?

I want these found now! (commander voice looking for the enemy saboteur)

I'm in TX. Dallas Ft Worth area. Supposedly near 5

im checking in for #12 .....we've already covered the area....Rock Hall/Hard Rock Cafe....

@Beasnizzle I will be doing some more research for you as I have for #12.

Try these on and see what you think

"Seems more likely than the rock hall, Amber waves could reference a light house (the way the light strikes the water in the dark) and while all lake Erie lighthouses are closed to the public, supposedly, the original lens or "eye" of the lighthouse closest to Cleveland is at the Great Lakes Science Center...

I would check as I do live in Cleveland, but I am too busy this weekend. Do report back any luck!"

""Hang on Sloopy" is Ohio's state Rock Song. It is played during the 8th inning and people have 'no choice' but to listen..."

These are rough, but will get some more together soon as I can.

I apologize if this has already been posted, but I haven't been able to catch up on this entire thread. I have places in Southern and Bay Area California, so I have been particularly interested in the clues for #3, but I haven't been able to make it up to the Bay to check on the location I have discovered. Here is what I came up with:

"Droid X designate #3 is near the west coast. Droid hunters are advised to start looking at the shoreline and work inland."
- Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, CA - Google Maps

Taken literally, this could mean you would want to start at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View. Conveniently located just inland of it is a few of Google's HQ buildings.

"Droid X designate #3 is in California. The most powerful cybernetic machine since Arnold took office."
- Cybernetics is the study of communication processes in...electronic systems. Google is one company that comes to mind, and it confirms the above conclusion.

"Consulted with Droid expert. Thinking that Droid #5 and #7 will be found in warmer climates while #3 should be located at higher altitude."
- This is the only problem with the above location. However, the city is named Mountain View, so the same idiot that posted about the Snapdragon processor may have written this clue.

ok...I will let you know!!

Was thinking earlier... #16 is considered by some to be in the midwest. And it's amazing. Iowa. A-maize-ing...

I had a dream I found #3 and was all ready to tell you guys how I found it...damn, I wish I never woke up!

I looked up #11 and saw that Montana was Big Sky Country. I was thinking Oklahoma at first.

If we don't get better clues today, nothing big probably won't happen tomorrow.

LOL nice. You better take a nap or something and recap that dream asap!
Well, in a nutshell, even tho one clue said it was in a higher altitude, it was not, I found it in a Sears store. I was drawn to a box for a camcorder, opened it up, pulled the battery and a red light (Droid eye) beamed out and everyone jumped, confetti and balloons rained down, and I was given the X. Farfetched, obviously, but one cannot control thier own dreams. Clearly, my subconcious is strong with the power from the dark side.

They're coming out of the woodwork now!

Droid X designate #17 is near a major metropolitan area. Wait. Did we just say Droid X designate #17?

17?!?! Keep going!! Dont stop!!!

(yea...thats what she said....)

So we're 12 days away from launch.
We're supposed to get these escapees BEFORE the 15th.
There are no "really solid" clues to narrow down any locations yet.
The number of escapees is increasing daily.
We never got a clue for #2, and now we are missing #s 13, 14, & 15

ARE WE EVER GOING TO GET SOLID CLUES TO FIND THESE DAMN THINGS OR ARE WE JUST BEING STRUNG ALONG!?!?!?!?

Yeah...I'm beginning to doubt this is real. This could just be some crap someone started (since there have been a few wrong tweets, like the infamous snapdragon one) and Verizon is just playing along with it, because it's free advertising. If the clues keep up like this, there's no way in hell any Droid Hunter will find a phone.

I mean, I see the investigative work ya'll have done and damn...there's A LOT of very smart people here. I simply cannot believe this is true, the phones are really already out there, and the Ohio one hasn't been found yet..........There's no way that this contest can really be this difficult that NO ONE, not even some random person or a professional web blogger has not found a phone yet.

I think it's pretty much confirmed to NOT be a scam since the twitter address was in Verizon's own commercial. Plus, there is a VZW account that pretty much said this is real. (not in those exact words, but close 'nuff)

My point was that unless they plan to bombard us with clues on days that the average person works, who's gonna jump out of their office to start hunting? Remember, I said "average" :D

Yeah that's a good point, looks like they're amping up the clues right now. I'm willing to bet that something's going to drop this weekend too haha.

Damn, you're right. I keep forgetting it was in that first commercial. If they want any followers to find them it would be more probable to be during the week as well, I think. At least, I'm hoping. ^_~ I am not the "average" hunter either. lol As soon as the FL clues get more specific, I'll be operating out of my mobile office in my car. lol

Well, it's a little weird they left out the "sky" if they meant "big sky country". There is an area in central Texas that is referred to as Big Country, but I'd like to think they wouldn't have two in Texas.

As far as the clue about #17 being near a major metropolitan area, that could also be a Texas reference (though I doubt it is). Texans refer to the Dallas-Forth Worth area as the Metroplex. Another possibility is that #17 could have something to do with the NY Metropolitans aka the NY Mets. Or it could be at somewhere like the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

By definition, a metropolitan area is somewhere with more than 50,000 residents. Here is a list of the "major" metropolitan areas:

1) New York-Newark-Bridgeport, NY-NJ-CT-PA - 21,976,224
