"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

When I get home from work tomorrow morning, I'll sit down and make a full list of clues along with possible locations to bring everything together. I'm also doing this on another forum so I'll bring something from there, with their permission, mind you.

I want one of these phones!!!

Hi guys! I have really enjoyed everybody's ideas on where each one might be. I'm hoping to chase down one soon!
Just curious, where is everybody?

I'll start off. I'm in South Bend, Indiana.
If somebody thinks there's one nearby email me john at jugglingwithjohn.com

Post where you are and maybe some of us can meet and look together. Hey, you can cover twice as much ground if you got two people. Just an idea.

I haven't read every post so sorry if somebody already suggested this.

What about Las Vegas for #2? That IS a desert afterall. This might make more sense than SoCal now that I think of it. The clue says "by the west coast." SoCal IS the west coast. (My guess would be one of these two - as people typically connect sunshine/westcoast with SoCal)

# 1 is already in Las Vegas & as I said I don't see two phones in one state.

Did you leave off the D in Lombard? Anyway, the green box is where they store mail for the carriers. It's locked tight. The R2D2 is actually cool. When were these taken, do you know? I gotta go back to work tomorrow, so I can't shoot down there... WOOP, you game this time?
Won't be able to until probably the end of the week. In the process of moving, and will be also working. Hopefully I can try Friday or Saturday

Hey, check the first post of this thread. It's already been done.

Yeah someone else pointed it out. A brain fart there for me. The only state I'd see there being 2 phones in (if there had to be one) would be California

Hot off the press! Droid found on Lombar St!

Corner of Lombar & Lyon

Ok, so not exactly what you expected? Well, technically I found a droid on Lombar ST and I do believe this may have something to do with it.

Check the Google Street View @ the corner of Lombar & Lyon in San Fran, notice it is blue now but there is a huge ugly green box next to it. Plus there is a park near by. Time for another trip?

Hidding them near the Droid mailboxes (or used to be droid boxes) is a Great idea! Possibly this is it? We'll see.

Go get it! ...maybe :)

Report back, shoot us some pictures as well. You never know what is not obvious now will be later with more clues.

Thanks!

Wow! No way that was there yesterday! I walked right down that part of the street and then back to my car!!!

It's not there today either. Those are old as suggested by "or used to be."

And the website is blank. :)

Ahh sorry, wasn't sure what he meant there and his post wasn't very clear that this was not something he found today. I was also pretty peeved since I spent most of the day yesterday on and around Lomard Street and found nothing of note. Reading his post I kinda jumped the gun an thought Damn! They really don't have this stuff in place yet and that was a total waste of time heh..

I would have loved to have been looking right up there with you. :p At least you didn't stay home and have somebody else find it.

just from doing a google search, those mailboxes were out over 3 years ago for a promotion between USPS and the 30th anniversary of star wars.

i don't think verizon/moto/google would run their promotion to tie in with a promotion that two totally unrelated entities had over 3 years ago and is now non-existant, but that's just my opinion.

Used to be, i wanted to be the first to say i found one, technically i found one on the clued in st, but i still feel far from the real one.... im starting to hate this phone.

They are technically not unrelated.
DROID is a trademark of Lucasfilm Ltd. and its related companies. Used under license.
You will see that statement under everything that Verizon uses that has the name Droid in it.

Theres a giant Lucasfilm/Lucasarts campus/studio in SF;) (A bit far from Lombard though)

Edit: Now that I look on the map, it actually isn't that far from Lombard.

Maybe their is a star wars tie-in? If I lived in SF, I would check it outtttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt, ya know just in case.

Another overall thought on this hunt, this time from my wife...

Whoever is running this could very well make each "finder" sign a non-disclosure agreement for the specific details of how they found the Droid. This could be to prevent other people from having an edge while looking for the remaining droids.

I just hope that if any are found, we will be notified by at least a new tweet.

Just wanted to thank

woop,
mattdouglaschambers
NiceShotMan
and SiXiam

for the updated 1st post. I was gonna do something similar on my PC but yall just saved me the trouble. lol

"Droid X designate #15 is near mountains. Next to some other mountains. Next to its hdmi port"

Denver is next to the Rockies and the Colorado Rockies play baseball in Denver. I think we have the city confirmation clue for #15

edit: Also, the HDMI theme again. All the HDMI clues, plus the EYE clues and you'll know it when you see it clues just reinforce my opinion that we are going to see something along the lines of the red eye from the Droid X live wallpaper projected onto some sort of display.

I'm becoming more convinced of the opposite: The hdmi and eye clues are nothing more than marketing fluff.

after seeing this

#13
-Droid X designate #13 is going north. Its 8 megapixel camera can almost see Canada.

i hope its in michigan, downtown in detroit right near the two main ways to get to canada (bridge and tunnel)

i don't know if any other state sees canada so visibly. i just know about here.
keep dreaming.
#13 is going to be in minnesota...
and i have dibs.
