"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Well Im jealous if people are indeed getting them early. After playing with one today and finding out some of the things I was worried about turned out to exceed my expectations I want one even more!

Idunno. I'm starting to itch with the "bs" call....it's hard to tell in the photos, but that date on the box for "deliver by" doesn't really look like 07-06-10....

I just ran tracking on that box- shipped 7/1, delivered today 7/6... shipped from verizon's normal location.

I think the most confusing part is, if they are just shipping it out to random VZW customers, than what was the point of even setting this up? How would they know if they are following DroidLanding or not. I don't know, it seems a little weird, and it seems a bit off.

Someone will have to confirm or deny but I THOUGHT I entered mailing information on the verizon/droid/motorola site. Around the time DroidLanding started
If true, then it may make sense. I did not sign up as I own an Incredible, and just wanted another phone through the contest. Can someone confirm/deny this?

Yes. I've been leaning that way for awhile. I think the "you'll know it when you see it" and "hey look at that" clues are referring to the droid eye on the live wall paper in all the screen shots. Add that to all the HDMI references and I still think we are going to see that red eye on a HD display or maybe something as large as a jumbotron display at some sports venue.

Droid designate #10 is here. City, we have a problem. Finding it.

wtf does that mean?

Houston, we have a problem.

edit: must have accidentally hit the multi-quote button instead of quote. I had no intention of quoting myself.

Damn you...lol I was just getting ready to share this. Yeah...this is popping up on a few different blogger sites apparently. I'm still looking into it.

Like I said...we were never told this was a scavenger hunt...everyone just assumed.

Damn I'll be angry if that's all this is though...

I would be a little mad as well. I did see the tweet to go to DroidDoes.com and entered my email in. If it shows up on my doorstep that would be AWESOME! (Not counting on it)

Well, I was able to make out the tracking number on the box: 431380152430 on FEDEX says it was SHIPPED on July 1st to El Paso, TX....soooooo

OK, well doesn't the latest clue kind of give us some info that they AREN'T just randomly shipping them? I mean, if the "problem" is FINDING them, why would they ship them to a person?

If I remember correctly, that was actually someone's guess as to where #10 would be too (the phone in question in the picture).

Yes, I signed up when I first started following DroidLanding. I got an Email confirming my sign up to confirm my entered Email addy was real. But, I never remember submitting a mailing address.

Yeah, normally I wouldn't sign up, but I wanted to stay as up to date as possible because I really need a new phone.

I'm wondering if maybe DroidLanding is a mix of both. Sometimes it says hunters and refers to finding things, but other times it says "droid landed" like it arrived somewhere.

Here's to hunting.
