"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Looks like TIRay73 and joekissfm on Twitter are at the grassy knoll looking around right now. That clue is way to obvious so I doubt it is there.
Yep i was there! im thinking they stay for 10 min (x)..... there is a big "x" on the street where JFK was "shot" for final time! that footage was caught by Zupruder atop a column on the grassy knoll! Crazy!

Yes, I signed up when I first started following DroidLanding. I got an Email confirming my sign up to confirm my entered Email addy was real. But, I never remember submitting a mailing address.

I actually signed up asap after the initial email... I believe I did enter my address. I do NOT normally give out my correct address but did this time, but no droid @ my door... yet

I do believe its in Houston as well. But the humidity thing is bugging me. Been to Houston couple of times and it was humid as hell!

Alabama and Florida are Humid

I have friends & family from Texas. They confirm Texas = Dry heat (Maybe humid sometimes)

Alabama, Florida, GA - We LIVE and Breath humidity, not sometimes :)

Even santa strips down when he heads south.

One Christmas I went out side to see if it was snowing, I had to go back in cause it was so freggin hot, I was in shorts.

I think your all wrong on #15. Here's my theory.

Droid X designate #15 is near mountains. Boulder Mountains

Next to some other mountains. Rocky Mountains

Next to its hdmi port What's next to the HDMI port on the Droid X? The USB port.

USB = Upper South Boulder Creek

Droid X designate #15 is at a high altitude. Of course, nothing can slow down its 1Ghz processor All of these features are at Boulder which is at 5,438 feet above sea level and is a higher elevation than Denvers Mile (5280 feet)

Whatcha think??

LOOK FOR THE 'X" FOR SURE GUYS....

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET IN DEALY PLAZA IS AN 'X' WHICH MARKS THE SPOT, OF THE FATAL 'SHOT" OF JFK, THE FOOTAGE WAS CAUGHT BY MR. ZUPRUDER, STANDING IN THE "GRASSY KNOLL"

WISH I WOULD HAVE TAKEN A PIC!!

Maybe they learned from the Evo and didn't want to take preorders so they wouldn't underproduce.

Because to me a manufacturer sees 300k preorders and makes 400k phones for the first shipment, but not even one preorders and that causes bad press.

I thought about adding a pre order for the incredible just so I can attempt to change to the droid... long shot and sounds like it won't work.

I would call once a day and attempt to order it. For some reason somewhere I heard we could pre-order on the 10th.

I think your a genius and gratefully welcome you to help us find these bad boys!

What are your thoughts on the all the processor\processing references possible related to?

I can almost Swear that -

HDMI & CPU References have a corrasponding meaning as well

As far as the "Of course, nothing can slow down its 1Ghz processor" part, it could be refering to the speed of the Upper South Boulder. It is a difficulty (V+) whitewater rapids.;)

Dang, VZW Offers twitter accounts says

"Unfortunately, no preorders

The CPU is referred to in many of the designations, so not sure if it is that specific, but it could be.

I got too deep in to the CPU research, think I was dreaming 3640 all night long

New to the forums here ... was looking at the SF clues (#3)

"Consulted with Droid expert. Droid #3 should be located at higher altitude."

"Droid X designate #3 is near the west coast. Droid hunters are advised to start looking at the shoreline and work inland."

"Droid X designate #3 is in California. The most powerful cybernetic machine since Arnold took office."

"Droid designate #3 is using all its 1Ghz processing power just to navigate Lombard St."

I admit I don't know a lot about SF .. but was thinking .. the first clue says it is at higher altitude .. I would think I would start looking near the highest point along the street. Also, the final clue about needing it's processing power to navigate Lombard St ... maybe on a trolley car or a stop somewhere near the trolleys or some other sort of transportation?

I don't know SF at all, so just going off of what I know about SF and Lombard.

Remember, it doesn't say it is on Lombard .. just near Lombard.
People have searched the top of the crooked part of the street, which from what I remember, is the highest point of Lombard. As far as the trolley stops, these are indicated by a pole with a small sign containing a picture of a person getting on a trolley. These are on the side walk, and completely out in the open. There is nothing around these stops. So if it were "hidden" there, the only place to hide it would be at the bottom of the pole, which... well then its just completely out in the open and not hidden at all.

Hey, SAN FRAN GUYS - & Woop

Back to #3

On the corner of Lombard & Hyde St, (This is HIGH up there already) there is a Wooded hill, did you check the top of that hill?

Check it out and let me know if my droid X is there.

Check street view to see what I mean

Up at the top is peoples houses and yards.. Most are surrounded by walls so no I didn't check all the areas at the top... I did go into both open houses that were at the top tho, long shot I know. No trolleys go down lombard (that I saw anyway) A few do cross over it but as was mentioned the trolley crosses basically in the center of the road so no real way to hide anything there unless it was on the trolley itself and I did look for trolley cars with Droid or Verizon advertisements..

I wandered around dallas this afternoon. It was kinda funny watching all the folks out there looking through the bushes and all. I checked a bunch of places around the grassy knoll, b/c it said it was near a grassy knoll not in it. Everyone and their brother was looking in it. so I kept moving. I spent a good three hours walking around looking for anything that might be just glaringly obvious, that we might just overlook it.... NOTHING.

I might go back later this week, after some more research on possible locations. But as for now, I am not gonna go back out there to just wander around. First of all you have to pay to park almost everywhere down town. And, it was crazy crowded w/ tourists and just people, that if it were out there in the open it would have been picked up today or sooner. I'm gonna go back out there and look for the obvious stuff that's not that obvious..... if that makes any sense? Who f'ing knows, I don't!?!

The people that went looking checked that area first. That is the entrance to the "crooked" part of the street, thus the most heavily crowded area (mainly tourists). All around there, other than the George Sterling Memorial, are homes/apartments.

Hey all,

Something I have been thinking about with this whole thing. Verizon is known for "The Network" and so far all we get are these clues parading the specs of the phone. (Even a third party company would do both kinds of clues) So 2 Maybes, 1, Moto is behind this hunt or 2, The piece we are missing is the whole "network" thing. Maybe the new branding and stuff Verizon has now. Or maybe I am just reading too much into all this and just want the damn phone....haha. I guess time will tell. Excited for what tomorrow's clues bring....

so i had this theory.

since no one seems to have found any droids yet, i was thinking that there are 2 possibilities:
1) they will eventually give us latitude/longitude coordinates, probably on july 14th.
2) maybe it could be only seen at night, like a red light in some bushes or something; a location where it can't be seen during the day

i live in the heart of the city and just finished biking through union square, ferry plaza, lombard st, coit tower, and even at powell and jackson (intersection of trolley rails forms an X there).
no dice =(

I really think you all are looking way too deep into these clues. The reason they keep repeating the specs of the phone is because those are its selling points and they want us reading them over and over so then we can go out and spread the word since its been burned into our memory from looking at the twitter page a hundred times a day. Its classic marketing.

Part of the tweets are definitely clues, but the specs are not. This is a marketing campaign above all.
