DROID X ORDER over the phonee

Whats the advantage of buying the phone outright??
I realize you would not have a contract to fulfill. Month to Month contracting isn't any less.
Is the main reason so that the phone can be sold in a short period then you can move on to the next best?

I ask out of pure curiosity .

Maybe he doesn't have an upgrade available or just wants to not be tied down to a new contract. This way he could sell this phone and upgrade at a later time if he chooses.

Oh I don't have an upgrade available to me, so I'm buying it full price and sold my Incredible at $375. I'm basically paying $230 for the X including all taxes.

For you its a great solution for me not so great at this time.

Thanks

How?! Did you just ask and the rep said it was available?
pretty much...I asked if I could preorder and she said I would be on a wait list/first come first served type of deal, but could not guarantee a delivery date, only that it would ship fedex 2 day. got the confirmation this morning for a friday delivery.

Thanks for the info. Can you confirm, did you dial: (800) 256-4646 ? If not, can you provide the number you used?

im seriously not takin the risk of ordering online.
will be at the store at 8 and out at 8:20. i will be the first in line or first person sold an X. i will speak this into existence! :)

Doh! I just tried. She ran the credit, cleared me, and told me that I would be contacted on the 15th to place my order. Problem is, she wouldn't take my credit card information for what she just called a "pre-order". Did they take your CC? How did they charge you for the phone?

I just tried to pre-order over phone, got shut down by customer care and supervisor (was contacting supervisor on another issue and just worked in about a possible pre-order). The Supervisor was also amped up for the droid x and said he himself still hasn't handled one. I believed him.

I'm going to be at your store at 7:59 so you wont be the first in line and you wont be the first person sold an X, especially since all I'm doing is purchasing it. :) No upgrade hassle.

It will be billed to my existing personal account. I already have their service and a generous discount for being a GM employee (maybe this is how I got one?).

It's funny how much more we know than Verizon employees. I had a CSR ask me what the phone was like as well (I held a few at a couple stores here in Chicago). A couple days ago, I had a rep tell me they "weren't sure of the launch date...maybe in August?" It's hilarious. I even showed the rep in one of the stores how the widgets could be resized and he was amazed (to his credit, he hadn't received training on it yet, but come on!)

Some rep tried to show me up about no having a droid x on the floor and why would we do that ma'am and the phone hasn't been released. I told her that verizon has shipped it out and pulled it up on her phone and she was speechless. Lol

I just called another rep to see if I could somehow reactivate my old line and go that "upgrade" route that another poster went to get his. He told me that it was impossible because the X hasn't even hit their warehouses yet. I told him to check out the headlines because it's definitely happening - and they're shipping out of their Ontario, Ca center. He kept referring back to some memo. I wanted to say F%$% the memo man!

Thanks. Oh well. So, at least my impatient a$$ has confirmed at least two early delivery channels:

- Incredible wait-listers who asked to be swapped out - are getting early X shipments
- Current customers who dial that number and ask for upgrades - are getting early X shipments

I just got shot down at 800-922-0204.

Rep said there are no pre-orders at all for the X.

Anyone else have any luck?

Who are considered Incredible Wait-listers? I ordered my Incredible several weeks ago and I am switching to the Droid X. From what you're saying, they'll let me switch and I'll (possibly) get an early delivery?

Does anyone know if Best Buy price matches phones? I believe that the phones at Best Buy are a little more expensive than the VZW counterparts.

For the full MSRP, they probably will be more expensive. All authorized retailers have to buy there phones from VZW, not from the manufacturers. They're not going to sell it to you at their cost (although a manager may override it for you.

The reason they can match it with service is because VZW pays nicely for the contracts.

I had no luck either. :( They're still calling me on the 15th and said nothing about backorder. Mines an Inc exchange.

Yeah I tried the whole DInc to X route but it didn't work. My DiNC was scheduled for a ship date of 7/12. I called to ask if I could get switched to a Droid X and she put me on hold. About 5 minutes later she came back to tell me that there is no way they can order them yet because they haven't shown up in their systems. I went ahead and cancelled my DiNC so I can walk in to the store on the 15th and get the Droid X with a NE2 discount and not worry about anything.

Consider yourself lucky if you were able to get a DX ordered somehow.

Based on the few posts I've seen, it's been random. The lucky ones were switched over to the x list. Verizon surprised and delighted them early. Others in the same situation haven't gotten anything. It just seems hit or miss.
