"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

The Droids you are looking for wont be in Hawaii nor will they be in a New England state. Well atleast I dont THINK they will.
The reason? IMNSHO big red sold their landlines and services to Hawaii telecom a few years ago (it failed shortly after btw) and they recently sold off the New England portions a couple of years ago to Fairpoint which is in bankruptcy (ask anyone who lives their how "wonderful their service is lol).
That's my opinion since this summer our new ad campaign or atleast VzW's ad campaign just says VERIZON. It stands to reason that they wouldn't put a droid x in one of those areas that Verizon no longer has a footprint.

So they sold the New england landlines.... do landlines have anything to do with cell phone service (towers?). I live near Boston and we have good verizon cell phone service, Verizon FIOS for both TV and internet. And my landline is verizon.
Do places like Oklahoma have FIOS? Just saying theres a big pressence of Verizon the COMPANY in New England... Massachusetts atleast
Ok, I don't completely understand how twitter works, but this is weird...
When I look at the Droidlanding twitter page vs. my twitter home page, I have an extra tweet on my home page that doesn't show up on the Droidlanding page:
DroidLanding Droid X designate # 14 has landed in urban area. Its 1Ghz processor should be powerful enough to unite the Cubs and Sox fans.
This would put #14 somewhere in the Chicagoland area...

Verizon did sell it's landlines to Fairpoint in ME, NH and VT, but VZW is a different company and they have a very strong footprint in MA and CT. As I said above, Boston is one of their trial areas for LTE. My company survives basically on VZW contracts and we're doing quite well in NE.
Maybe I'm just holding out for one nearby and don't want to admit they'd ignore this whole area while dropping one in Montana. Here's hoping.

@Wildcrd There are so many things wrong with your statement about New England and the VZW footprint that I don't even know where to start. They sold their landlines to FairPoint in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Meanwhile, VZW has a corporate office in Massachusetts, they just broke ground on a Technology Innovation Center in Massachusetts to collaborate on FiOS and LTE (among other projects), AND they have the Verizon Wireless Arena in New Hampshire. So yeah, you're right. No footprint here.

Anyone think #3 will get another hint today? I'm debating on heading out, if I go I'd like to be there when the tweet comes in so I have a fighting chance at least hehe.
I figure the next tweet will put it in a much smaller area, not sure it wouldn't be found while I was making the 2 hour drive there.

Agree. Which is why I think Miami.
VZW is well established pretty much the entire Northeastern part of the country, which is why I'm surprised there isn't one @ Boston.
Oklahoma just recently (past 2 or 3 years) just got VZW service, not counting the Alltel buyout. FiOS was pretty much nonexistant there as well (~2 years ago). It's likely this has changed, however.
Perhaps the auto-tweet was starting at the wrong spot, so they had to restart it and it's just now getting to the retweet. Perhaps the same thing with the #12 tweet that happened a few days ago, they just didn't bother to delete it.

we are all one big happy (sometimes) family. i never said I was sure of it just that I didnt think it would be in those states. Im just looking at it from a purly marketing point of view...tho i'm not in marketing.
Also I was only referring to the states and area's the Verizon has sold off.

Droid X designate #6 is in the southernmost part of the country. Unless you count Hawaii.
If left as is, then it's a statement that would conclude FL
But the added "Droid X counts everything" could me "... Duh, I mean everything"
Don't take this disagreement personal, I enjoy bouncing ideas off of everyone - shoot this idea down if it needs to be killed... again
Right now if you look at the DroidLanding page it shows tweets, 6 hours ago, 4 hours ago, 3 hours ago, 2 hours ago, 1 hour ago, 35 mins ago. I believe the gap between 4 and 6 was when the deleted and now re-tweeted message was made. Guess we will know shortly if we are going to get a clue every hour or not today.

Yeah, there's also a Verizon Wireless theater near Dallas.
In fact... there's also a Verizon Wireless theatre in Houston, where #10 is thought to be at...
EDIT: But there aren't nearly enough VW theaters around the nation for every Droid X drop.
