"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

How am I ever going to find it if I have to compete with you? :P

Ah well. The more I think about it, the more I think they're going to HAVE to put the phone someplace uncommon, where the only person who is going to pick it up is someone actively following the contest, and not some wandering tourist who happened across it. Right?

Ya, once they give us enough clues to get the location, they may add something to designate the exact "thing" to look for.

Speaking of this... lets get our heads together from the perspective of those who "Hid" these things.

Where\what\how would we hide these? Let's come up with some good ideas, we have already established they are not the brightest.

Whoever is in charge of the very first post... Why is Michigan listed for #13? One of the Tweets states that it's in the state where Stan Lee was born, which is New York State...?

Edit: Is the 1st post not really being maintained anymore?

I would:

Hide it somewhere/sometime where I won't be SEEN hiding something. Last thing you want is someone going, "Hey, what's he hiding?" and investigating.

Hide it somewhere off the beaten path, where it's unlikely to be randomly stumbled on.

Hide it somewhere hidden from the elements, so that moisture can't get in and ruin it.

Hide it with some sort of clue nearby, I'm thinking like It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, with the X-shaped tree.

Hide it somewhere free to enter. No sense making people paying an entrance fee.

Hide it somewhere SAFE. No sense making people search an area with unsafe terrain, unsafe animals, or unsafe people.

I still think that, leveraging the connection to Blockbuster for this phone, there is a possible use of those Blockbuster Express Kiosks that are everywhere. (See my post from a few days back for my complete rationale... http://androidforums.com/motorola-d...-contest-1st-post-updated-42.html#post1083348 )

Good good, I concur and think we may just need more clues before we get on foot.

Hey man, I felt the same way. All this effort and then some droid x just ships to some "lucky" guy(s)?

Well, keep up the good work... if you don't get a droid I'm sure you will be OP of the year :)

I feel the same way... This contest is starting to get old and lose my interest. I have told so many people to follow their twitter and now I feel like an idiot.

Doing some quick searching on their website blockbusterexpress.com, They are in nearly all of the cities that have been guessed on here (notable exceptions being Montana, and Hawaii).

Seriously guys, where/how would it be hidden at these movie kiosks? Are you going to ask for the movie XXX and get a Droid...I think not.

Droid X designate #20 is in the northeast. If you just left there on your search, turn around.

please be Maryland.....

What if you could enter the name on the screen and get to drop out a new DroidX? What if they are still delivering these kiosks(google the NRD release of these kiosks article 7/6/2010) and thats why some are still on the move.
Could be wrong, but it causes me to wonder!!

blockbuster is a wack idea, they would have atleast named dropped it some how now in the tweets, lets just figure out how to find these bad boys.....

No kiosks listed in San Fran and we know #3 is there.

Ok well this tweet references a "search" so I don't think we are crazy anymore for assuming this is a hunt for these phones rather than a list of the phones being pre-shipped.

Except it says that if you left their on your search to turn around.

I dunno about you but that sounds like "If you're heading there to look for it, just give up now"
