"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Ok.... the new #8 clue has me excited. If the Clues go Region=>State=>City=>local then with this new clue we have South=>Alabama=>Birmingham

What do you guys think?

Horrible clue for #8... Birmingham is known as the "Pittsburgh of the South", but why in the world would they use "a city built on steel" for the clue when Pittsburgh is known as the "Steel City"?!
They coulda come up with something better than that!

Challenge excepted! I hope they give out a clue before the coordinates like they did in NYC. Metro really isn't a fast way of traveling DC in the time span of only a few minutes to get to said location.

Do you live in DC? I have been checking areas on the potomac since they gave the one away on the dock in NYC. I have found some prime areas and since there are so many landmarks I am sure they will come up with some sort of clue that should give it away before they post the coords.

Definitely seems that the original tweeter has been asked to move on. These tweets make a lot more sense, are better written, and seem to have more authority behind them.

True that! I was right, the Game\Rack changed after the rules were official... wow, good idea to set the rules first this aint no game of Dirty Santa!

The first modern traffic light was invented here. In 3 days, Droid X designate #17, the latest in smart phones will be here.

Detroit Michigan

Kind of stinks that it is 1 day before launch day. Kind of a pain at this point.

That doesn't bother me any. The fact that i can get the phone for free is enough for me. The only problem is i'm scheduled for sinus surgery the day before... not sure if i'll be able to chase this one. Heh, heh.... may have to postpone that surgery. :D

Youch! Sinus surgery is no fun, but great once it is over. You should be fine :)

This is about to start getting fun, we are going to start finding multiple droids Each day... that is a must if they are going to get these out.

OR Do you guys think they are going to be hiding these After lunch as well?

Detroit Michigan
Inventors set about trying to design new traffic lights, and there were U.S. Patents issued in 1918 and 1919 to two different inventors. One to James Hoge of Cleveland, Ohio who invented a two color red green electric traffic light. Others were also experimenting with adapting railway signals to road use, but William Potts, a policeman from Detroit, deserves the credit for inventing the modern three color traffic light. He rigged it from parts from three colors of railroad lights and some wire and switches. It began replacing policemen directing traffic at the corner of Woodward and Michigan Avenues in 1920. It could control traffic from four directions, and was very successful. Within a year from that first day Detroit had over a dozen traffic lights in operation.

So this would be Michigan or Ohio?

WTF.. .Just found out today that I have to be in Mobile, AL next week for work (got to love corporate America!).. Now I need to find a Verizon store in Alabama that I can go to on the 15th. FML !
Also have to explain to our client why I will be late on the 15th.. Please chime in with good excuses I can use ?

Could they make the clues any easier? City Built on Steel? Pittsburgh. The phone didn't crack the bell! Philly.

Jesus christ. Most unimaginative viral marketers ever.

Oh wait, but they don't want some super nerdy person figuring it out and showing up first because that wouldn't look good in the ****ing TV comercial they are bound to use the video of people finding the droids in...

I'm going on vacation with the fiance and her family to a cabin in Montana. No cell reception, internet, cable, etc. Leaving 11th coming back 25th.

Needless to say, I can sort of feel your pain.

Maybe DroidLanding will drop the X in Chicago today or tomorrow. Here's to hoping.

Actually the "city built on steel" clue is for Birmingham, AL... So I guess it wasn't as easy as you thought, huh? ;)

So this would be Michigan or Ohio?

Other clues are major metropolitan and largest cement plant..

the cement plant would point to Michigan (although outdated?), along with the modern streetlight, which seems to be credited to the officer in Detroit.
