Motoblur on Eris

Hello fellow Androiders (making up words sure is fun huh?)

Subject says it all.

Motoblur on Eris. Done it? Yes? No? Maybe so? Lemme know!

If you root your phone, it gives you the ability to flash custom roms. I'm not sure if any of the devs have made one with blur.

Yeah, I suppose a dev might do this, but the trend has been to remove UIs like Sense. I've kept an eye on the development threads over at XDA and have never seen a Blur-themed ROM developed. Doesn't mean that there's not one out there... Also, I haven't tried any of the launcher apps that are available, so I don't know if any of these give the look and feel of Blur.

Though I don't know how many people would use it, I think it is a good idea. It helps the devs learn more about the phones when they are able to transfer things like this over. How about sense on a Droid? Sure why not?!

Haha yeah for sure. I don't know, I've rooted and everything but unless I can find things like Motoblur roms or a Palm Pre rom for the Eris I'll probably unroot.

Dude, I would give anything to be able to ROOT my phone!

He might not use the full use of root access. I know I haven't rooted my phone because other than installing custom roms I wouldn't do anything extra. And since I have no problems and like Sense, I see no need for rooting my phone. Does that make sense?

Unroot? That's like putting a chastity belt on your girlfriend.

Yes, if your girlfriend is useless in bed.

I'm considering unrooting because I don't use hardly any of the main features. I don't overclock, I don't tether, there's no good 2.2 rom for the Eris yet, and I'd like to have a warranty (especially since I'm paying for one).

If there were more interesting roms for the Eris i'd keep it rooted. But there really aren't. Evil Eris is the coolest there is and the only reason I'm using that now is because I like how it makes the menus blue.

If there were better roms like a Timescape or Motoblur rom I'd totally stay rooted, but until these appear or a stable 2.2 rom comes out, i'm going to unroot.

There is a rom for sense on a droid, actually.

I dont think theres going to be a motoblur rom for any phone. There isnt one for the droid, and if there was a demand for it, thats where it would be, because quite honestly, its a horrible system. Why do you think the droid and droid x are blurless? The devour has motoblur, and we all know how successful that thing is.

It kills battery life with constant updating, and its slow.

And the palm pre rom wont happen either, since its not android related.

The reason I wanted the Motoblur rom is because I like how the talk/apps/end buttons are set up on the bottom. I wouldn't use the Facebook/Twitter/Myspace widgets. I'm not that big of a social network junky >.> hahaha. Besides, I loaded the ErisLightning rom today and love that.

And the Palm Pre rom I was speaking of was the PALM PRE THEME+ROM thing that was circling the internet for a few seconds before Palm struck it down. I believe you can still get the rom (I'm sure Demonoid has it), but I don't know if installing it would work on my Eris.

Have you tried any of the launcher replacements such as LauncherPro or ADW? You can customize them pretty heavily.

there are 3 good 2.2 roms out currently. Beta 2 of CM6 was just released and its smooth

I don't know if Motoblur on anything other than a motorola will be possible because it requires a Motoblur account be created before you can do anything.

Yeah but this kind of limits the functionality of the cell phone don't you agree? The stock Android messaging app is (appropriate adjective for not so good), and no camera? I love my camera. It also says it's missing a bunch of apps from the market. That's not exactly what I call stable, though the link was greatly appreciated.

it is definitely a "work in progress" but it is a very nice CMfroyo rom that has an awesome dev who puts alot of work in to it ...you also have CELB Froyo by conap and tazzpatriots version ...all still need some work mostly with camera issues ... but it is coming along relatively quick ....

ROM dev's tend to be alot more active over on the XDA boards .... so to stay up to date on ROMS i would visit over there fairly often .....
