"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

DroidDecoder tells me that Miami is still a possibility for #6, but it is much more likely to be in Tampa.

Since, there have been no city clues at all for #6...does this shed further evidence on DriodDecoder being an official from Verizon? Or at least someone in the loop? ^_~ Who knows.

Apparently "Head for the Keys then work your way up" was a reference to I-95 and I-75. So, it'll either be in the largest city you arrive at on I-75 or I-95 heading north from the Keys. So...that's either Miami or Tampa/St.Pete, and I'm guessing they have inside knowledge that Droid Designate #6 took I-75. ^_~

I-75 is the trucking/faster route. I-95 is the scenic/tourist route. That being said from my opinion, after having lived in Florida since 1990. ^_~

I live in Gainesville now, but used to live close to Tampa. I DO know that Verizon has a pretty good size office there and their customer call center for the south east is there too. So... maybe it's more convenient for them. :D

From what I remember, I think theres a few people on here that are in the Hollywood area. Hopefully they'll respond and if one or two of you guys can't make it to the spot, maybe help each other out?
 
OK SO I DIDNT MAKE IT! My "Head start" guess was the Children' museum next to the Barking Crab - which was only 3 blocks away from James Hook!

The problem is, theres are many places to get live lobster in Boston. Sadly I didn't listen to my friend who guessed James Hook.... I listened to the Cab driver that suggested Barking Crab... both are incredibly popular famous places to get lobster in boston... I guessed wrong.

When the GPS came out, I had no smartphone to check it and waited 5 mins to get the exact spot from one of my many friends helping me. (Thanks for MAHER for calling me to help as well!) Couldn't get a cab... then realized I could run there so I ran. When I got there, there were already 15-20 people there... I was there at 1:38pm.

Saw a fellow android forums guy there - Grizzly bear is his username? The Verizon people said they saw him walking around James Hook for a while... and they tried their best to act natural... they were really nervous that he knew already before the GPS was given. Then Grizzly ran off to the Aquarium I think.

The winner, Karen (not the one on the twitter page), she is blonde and had a few friends with her got there in 4 minutes. I asked her how she got it... she was originally at the Barking Crab, after the headstart clue, then when the gps came out she jjust walked accross the bridge to get to James Hook (God damn it I ran the other way to look for a cab!). When she got there, she saw the Certificate in the lobster trap right outside the door of James Hook.

As I talked to everyone there and those coming in, most people went to the aquarium, some people went to Barky Crab. If you went to aquarium, I dont think you would have had any chance... the traffic is bad and it is impossible to walk/run to get to James Hook in 4 mins.


Got my gift card. talked on the camera for a bit. played with the droid X (and it's so awesome). Had a fun day regardless. the winner was definitely NOT a random bystander. She was definitely in on the hunt.

Oh and the verizon reps were cool too, most are from Boston's verizon street team.

Good luck to the rest of you!!! I just can't believe the Head Start clue was so general... lobster is EVERYWHERE HERE!
 
by the way I don't know if this helps but couple of the reps were wearing some kind of YELLOW T SHIRT. They had already covered the shirts with another black shirt but I think the yellow t shirts they were wearing could mean something. Of course this doesnt mean other places will wear the same thing but the Boston reps definitely had a couple of them wearing matching yellow t shirts.

If it's done by members of Verizon's street team...M F'ing YAY!!!!! That actually really helps me out on my #6 hunt. I'll just say that you can find pictures of Verizon promotions employees easily enough online, if you're good with google/company websites. I'll certainly be looking for undercover reps. lol ^_^

Just think about Verizon's grooming and dress code policies. Since this is a public event, the undercover employees WILL be 'up to code.' ^_~ My years of being a LPO are going to help me out. ^_^

I live in Davenport, FL. Right between Orlando and Tampa. Literally 2 minutes by car from an I-4 entrance ramp. So, I'm a short drive from Tampa, and 4 hours from Miami. I wouldn't mind a drive to Tampa, but to make it in time I'd NEED a city clue and and ETA. That's why I'm pissed DroidLanding is ignoring giving any hints for #6. If they give the city clue 30 min before the GPS...I'll never make it in time. But, once I get and ETA and city clue...I'll sleep in my car if I have to, until the final clue is given. lol Luckily, I am still on break from my Paramedic classes and can travel at my leisure. lol

I am just pre-warning all of you...if I do win...be careful when you google my name. My picture may break your screens. ^_~ lol
 
Man one of my friends guessed James Hook first thing when i forwarded them the initial clue. If I had been at the wharf since earlier in the mornign i would fing had it.... Kicking my self because I actually had a shot but didnt get out before the clue went off sigh

LOL... I grew up in Plant City. Then moved up to Gainesville for college, and stayed. I have friends and family down there, so if I can get a definite location and date I'll take the day off and hang around Tampa.
 
I was at the aquarium pulling in when the coordinates came through. But the time I turned my car around to get to the location it was way too late. I pulled up and motioned to the crowd asking if it was all over. One guy with a beard just nodded with a disappointed look.

I still say that even if I don't get it, but one of us from the forums get it, I'll still be happy. We deserve it, not anyone else. No reasoning or logic to support that, just my respect for everyone in this thread. So very rare is it to have a thread this large anywhere, and so few trolls. Ya'll are great. ^_^

My sister lives in Hollywood but I doubt she will look for me.
