"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Terrific, they're making the clues really easy AND passing them out before the coords. Now it really is just if you're lucky enough to already be there if you can't even count on that 30 minutes to get there...

yea glad I didn't waste my day, I would have been on the Mall, near memorials and Smithsonian, Bens would have been a risk, because its not near alot of other places and its kinda cruddy around that area Bens is in.....

I actually work near the Capitol, and thought for a second that if it ended up near here, I'd go look, but then I thought better of it...with all the security near the museums/Capitol/White House etc....it'd be tough to pull off a scavenger hunt like this in those areas...

wonder if that guy was in the group of 10...

i would laugh if he wasnt.. that guy sounded pretty sure of himself

yea, he pretty much scared me away from looking, with the setup he said he had, that and the world cup final is today, so I didnt want to be sitting in DC traffic while that was going on...

Hiding it before does seem like a better idea though, You can't just stand around after the first final tweet and watch for someone to hide it.

Though if someone finds it before I think they should really not post the cord. to it or the second it's found there should be a tweet saying so even if it's before the last tweet. Would save people hassle

The area that Ben's is in isn't all that cruddy these days...just a bit more "urban"...

well i went there about 3 months ago, and within 3 mins of parking my car and walking the 100ft to Bens Chili Bowl I was asked if I wanted to buy coke or crack.......
It not bad, inner-city, boarded up houses, but its also not Orange County.....

::laugh:: Yeah....you have a point...I guess if you go a few blocks either way, it gets even a little grittier...but you shoulda seen it ten years ago when I got here. You wouldn't have even parked your car and gotten out...

I live in DC and I cabbed it quickly to Ben's Chili bowl...There was a group of like 10 people outside but I think a random guy and his girlfriend found it first. It was under the dog bowl in the entrance to the alleyway (not the bear). They most definitely planted the card BEFORE coordinates went out. I don't know if it was a hiccup in the system or they just flat out pasted them late. I got to play with phone for a while and got $20 card for my trouble. Overall it was a fun way to spend time on a lazy Sunday! BTW, the phone is freaking huge! I will stick to my incredible for now.

No chance for anyone if the patterns hold up, unless you are REALLY lucky and happen to be right there when all this starts. Some people are planning to hang around areas they "think" it might be, which could be good or bad. Average Joe has to work, average Joe can't hang around an entire city all day long. I for one, have lost all hope for the one in SF (#3). I said it before, and I will say it again, BASTARDS! :(
