Would I Be Able To Get A New Phone?

I sent a politely worded, but firm, e-mail to Verizon after my second Eris broke (silent bug). The customer service rep apologized profusely and offered a Motorola Droid (which I accepted).

I was pleased Verizon acted so quickly to keep me happy (though I will admit, it was a good letter). Fast forward five days and the phone I received in the mail? ANOTHER refurbed Eris.

Needless to say, I'm pissed.

lol dude did you really expect an upgrade to a droid after going through only 2 phones?

Just wanted to update, especially if some are having the same problems.
I was still told I could get a refurb shipped, or go pick one up here. I decided to do a factory reset and start from scratch with my phone. Turns out, my phone is working GREAT now! I swear the battery life (which wasn't even that big a deal) has improved to!

Aside from the obvious, did you have any other problems using email support? I don't have access to another phone right now and can't make it into a store for troubleshooting so I was thinking of trying the email approach.

I tried using email support and they just kept asking me to call or go into a store. They were not fans of doing troubleshooting over email but here's a tip. I'm in the same situation, I just have my cell phone, no home phone. But you obviously have a computer, so you can do what I did and use Skype. Skype will let you make free calls to 800 numbers, so you can dial VZW's 800 number and talk to a tech.

Through email I kept getting something to try and then they would say call in but that's it, they don't like doing extended troubleshooting over email. I called and in 15 minutes they sent me an Incredible to replace my Eris.

Awesome suggestion, thanks. I tried to send an email but after spending the time to type it out and sending I was just redirected back to Verizon's start page. No confirmation, and no response so I'm assuming it was vaporized along with all my incoming text messages. *grumble*
