"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

I replied to @DroidDecoder's message with "LIES" and they sent me a DM saying:

DroidDecoder
We were just told to get ready. No timeframe though we do have to admit this is getting a bit ridiculous.

Yes, I think it's the office person in some central location who is monitoring these different remote crews. Maybe the local crews get to pick the spots, but have to clear it through DroidDecoder. Either way, it's obvious DroidDecoder gets told about things before certificates are placed/hidden anywhere.

I just wish they used some of this free time, meaning time without tweets, to give a few clues about Droids being hidden the next few days.

lol Don't worry too much. It's just going to be a "whoever's in the right place at the right time" thing.

If you're local, I know you know how large Orlando is. You know where ORMC is? Well, even running code 3 (lights and sirens at all times) in a rig can take 20 minutes to get from I-Drive to there. Hell, once it took us 15 minutes from a bad MVA at Oakridge and John Young to get to Sandlake Regional...and that's blowing through red lights and crossing on-coming lanes to get around traffic stopped at lights.

Orlando is way too big. If I'm at the convention center, and the clue says Lake Eola (or vice versa)...I'm just going to head home. You can't even make that drive in time to get a gift card. And, I've lived in Kissimmee/Orlando since 1991. I know all the back roads and possible ways to avoid lunch traffic. It's just impossible in July, with tourists EVERYWHERE. lol ^_~

Orlando's just going to be dumb luck, since we have zero clues to go on (especially since technically Disney is in Kissimmee and Lake Buena Vista...not Orlando.). Only USO, Sea World/Aquatica, and Wet&Wild are in "Orlando."

Disney's Hollywood Studios is in Orange County though. Pretty much everything north of Osceola Pkwy and Victory Way is accepted as Orange county, and is either called Lake Buena Vista or Orlando...even though it's a 30 minute drive from there to downtown....

hey, the site is back up! I just got home from the Los Angeles hunt. The certificate was rolled up and hidden in a railing. Toughest hiding spot yet i think. So close yet so far...

Ok, no dice for me in LA, (the tip that X will be in west LA screw me up, I was waiting too west :)) came there about 5-6 minutes after phone was found. By that time, there were about 20 people staying around, and I saw few more running around block looking at GPSs and cell phones :) Did not waste time to wait for gift card, or play with X. I hope the winner one of our guys.

I was waiting over by hollywood and highland. I thought for sure it would be somewhere on hollywood blvd. But i got to pinks in about 10 mins and it hadn't been found yet. I had a good 5 mins to look around before it was found. Got the gift card though so it wasnt a total loss.

Anyhoo, i did get to play with the phone and it its totally amazing. The speed of it is crazy. I was worried it would be too big but its not at all. It fit into my pocket very easily. Im even more excited now for the phone to come out.

and from the looks of the clues today, i'd say that all the problems and bitching that was done caused them to change the way they give out the clues. There aren't any more 30 min clues then GPS. Its just GPS and clue all at once.

Wait. You were there and missed it?!??! DOH!

Yup. The final clue is very vague, West LA, South Minneapolis. Doesn't give you much until the coords go out, and it hasn't taken anyone more than about 15 minutes to get to them once they go out. Lame.

P.S. I couldn't stay away all day, even though #3 is long gone...:(

I was gonna wait by Santa Monica and La Brea or Highland, but since they said it's west LA, I just staid by work place in Beverley Hills..

whats your guess? where do you think itll be? if you dont mind giving out your secret spots lol I doubt either of us has a chance anyway!

Wow.

Super sucky.

I was the FIRST one at the Pink Taco today (literally three minutes after the coordinates were put out) and spent about 10 minutes searching for it.

****KKKKKKKKKKKKKK

It's no longer a hunt, just a race.

What was a fun brain teaser now comes down to dumb luck of being close by the coordinates and first to race there without killing yourself or someone else.

Sucks.

ok here is my story I waited since about 9 in the morning, I think, driving around downtown mpls and when the coordinates were tweeted I was 15 minutes away so obviously I was late. My guess is just who ever is at the right place at the right time is going to get it. When I pulled to Caribou cofee(wich it was where it was found) a group of people were gathered around so I knew I was late. We got our gift cards and we left. The local news crew were there and a couple of verizon wireless people. I am disapointed because of the clue that we got. South Mnpls? cmon its huge........but anyways it was fun and I wounder if she even knew or was following droid landing.

Honestly...I'm torn between I-Drive and Lake Eola...I still do not think it'll be close to Disney, but without any clues at all, I can only run on guesses.

I tried looking for any close Verizon stores and nothing stands out to me.

So far each phone has been outside of a very crowded area, yet still at a very well known place/landmark. Orlando is full of those! lol Also, if they put it in a place like Wall Street...the tall buildings there mess up my GPS sometimes.

Either way...I don't have a smart phone. I have a non 3g Sidekick, and the internet browser SUCKS! lol So...I'll be somewhere that I can get a good enough wifi signal for my laptop, yet still be in my car. ^_~

I think it'll just be a guess as to where I stage tomorrow, at least until a very useful clue comes out like, "Are you ready? Droid X designate #6 is on the west side of Orlando. GPS coordinates in 30 minutes!" Useless clue.
