How many people are buying this immediately upon release?

Yeah, I guess so. *sigh* I waited until today for the very reason that I didn't expect them to know anything earlier in the week.

This will be me, Sunday, walking away from my local store (if I don't get any good news):

**Edit! Best Buy just called me back & confirmed that they'd have it Sunday! *whew* Meltdown/building burn averted :D

Edit: Mental note to rip Office Space off the DVD so I can copy it to my Captivate and stream it wirelessly to my new TV. Why? BECAUSE I CAN!

That's what I'm talking about.

Edit 2: Now all I need to do is figure out how to rip a DVD. :D
 
Well I don't know about you guys, but this phone has captivated my heart.
I'll be getting one as soon as I can, but I may have to jump through a few hoops as I live in Canada.
I think that pun would make my mama proud.
 
Definitely picking a captivate up at launch. I don't qualify for a renewal yet but my wife does with her iPhone. She has a 3g 8GB and its been dog slow since she upgraded to iOS4.

I talked her into getting the iPhone 4 (with all the known issues) this weekend, so that I can get Captivated.

Evil laugh ensues.....

Yeah and when she's having all here phone problems she'll be bugging you to fix it for her. And you'll be spending a whole lot of quality time with her iphone and your Captivate will leave you for another man.

This is the only thing involving the captivate that I have been able to laugh at all day!
 
Well, now that the off contract price is supposedly up to $499, I would have to pass. Would have been willing to bite the bullet at $350.
 
*sigh* May have to wait until Tuesday when I get back from my trip to get this. I can't handle all this confusion with the price. Went to a Best Buy near me, and they said they should have it early in the week also, but no word on price

Send an email out to Best Buy Mobile, I did and they were able to confirm a few things for me, as well as contact the store I wanted to pick one up from and "educate them about the phone" for me.

A: Lots, however most people have to wait until the 18th.

 
Hey everyone I'm new here just gave up my Blackberry and pick up my Captivate yesterday. Its awesome. I am so new to Android. There is so much to learn here. The phone is super fast, the screen has a depth of color that is truly unbelievable. I have to keep reading up on these forum. By the way FWIW I picked it up in Melbourne, Fl at the mall...

Still gotta get my hands on one before I decide. It's annoying that they don't have any demo units for (most) anyone to play with. I can only assume that they don't want a bunch of nerds drooling over a pre-release phone drawing attention away from the iphone4. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to squeeze the last Android interest out of the Aria.
 
Just curious: the guy at the Newington/Portsmouth NH store said that there was quite a bit of interest in the phone. Since ATT isn't advertising this and is being so hush hush even to inquiries, are there any members here in the area planning to head over to that store tomorrow?
