Battery Drops like Ashley Simpson's Career?

Yeah whenever i get to yellow, i reboot the phone and its back to about sixty.

I think the phone gets confused and you can't start your phone even though you really have like half a bettery left.

Today, my phone has been used a LOT. I've used market, set up voicemail options, called 3 friends, texted a lot, used the browser, loaded some youtube videos...you get my drift. It's been used quite a bit. My battery level reads 70% atm. BEST battery life I have ever seen on any smartphone device. I'm super pleased :)

I'm not thrilled about the camera, and I've had some reception issues, but the battery is superb on mine.

When I first got my samsung omnia, it had a faulty battery. Verizon sent me a new one and the battery life was around 3x better. Maybe some people got dud batteries. It happens.

Putting my hat in with the strange battery behavior crowd. Mine drops faster than it should considering the usage, and changes what is shown after a restart if I don't wait for it to shut itself off. Also, I notice that when I plug it up it reaches a moderately high charge in almost no time, and this is after it shut itself off.

I vitually cannot kill my X in the course of a day. Moderate use after 14 hours still at 50%.

Yah despite the bogus readings it gives, the battery seems to be prettty strong.

Edit: i always used full screen brightness. Setting the brightness to 70% saves be 40% battery life.

Moderate - light use today..15 hours of total use, 40% battery remaining..I did the burn the battery out till it dies trick, and then powered off the phone and let it charge over night twice. It was difficult to kill the battery on the second day before bed time, but live wallpaper and non stop youtube did it at around 2:00 AM :). Phone has some minor quirks, but overall this is such an amazing device.

I have been testing my battery out to see how long it will last for the past 2 days and its been doing awesome! The first day it lasted me about 16 hours and yesterday it lasted me 20.5. Both days were with decent usage too. Not too heavy but not light either.

Im happy so far!!!

Yeah, my battery seems to be lasting longer each day. The reported percentages still are hindering the experience though. If the battery says its dead even though it has half power left, the phone wont even turn on... its a big issue they desprately need to address.

Well, I will share my battery experience today.

1.) Used phone for the day....just a few minutes ago the battery was reading 30% charged.

2.) For a completely unrelated reason I rebooted the phone (e-mail issue) and now the battery is reading 70% charged.

Sounds like a potential software bug to me.

Unplugged mine this morning @ 6am...8 hours later, I'm only 10% down. Still have 90% left with very light use today. (1 phone call, rcv'd a couple texts, checked FB, news, and Email)

ETA...rebooted, reads the same.

Rebooted and now at 70%, so is the rebooted number correct or the number before that? If the rebooted number is correct then wow, my battery would be the shit then.

I've been restarting at around 30% every day and kicking back to 70% upon reboot. Today I missed the reboot though and it shut off...had to run home, plug it in and charge it for 3 minutes...now I'm back to 70%...not cool MOTO.

I'm thinking it is a software bug also. Took mine off charger at 7:00 AM and low/moderate use until I got off work at 4:00PM. It had 20% showing left, then I shut off, removed battery, started it back up, and showed 50%. It has held at 50% for another couple hours now.

Give it some time, the software needs calibration. This is a good reason to drain it down low, but it's not necessary "per se" for continued battery life.

Everyone has only had the phone for a few days now :D

Calibration, and reported battery was a subject in the moto droid, and htc incredible forums, too.

How much time should I give it? It has been 5 days now for me and I am lucky to get 5 hours out of one full charge. It can shut off in as little as 4 and I don't think I am doing anything excessive on it.

No live backgrounds, GPS off, not too many widgets. Screen brightness set to low. I am running LP beta, flikie wallpapers w/ rotation, and beautiful widgets among others. I really don't have enough experience to know what could be draining the battery so quickly.

This is my first android phone and so far the battery life is not good. Others people in this forum are getting 10 - 12 hours on a single charge and I have to charge at least twice a day.

What should I do?

I'd be willing to bet that is the culprit. Go to running services and see how long thats been running. Things like this will NEVER let your phone truely sleep. I bet your awake time is close to 100%

As soon as I can get this thing on a charger I will check it out (died again today while at work). Seems promising, but I just installed the wallpaper app last night and was getting bad life prior also. But, now my phone is updated. I'll get rid of it and see what happens.

What about e-mail auto checking every so many minutes? Would this also not allow the phone to sleep? G-mail is set to autosync and others (like hotmail) are set to check every 15 minutes. I'm thinking the latter may be a problem but what about gmail?
