Where can you view your awake time on the Droid X?I'd be willing to bet that is the culprit. Go to running services and see how long thats been running. Things like this will NEVER let your phone truely sleep. I bet your awake time is close to 100%
How much time should I give it? It has been 5 days now for me and I am lucky to get 5 hours out of one full charge. It can shut off in as little as 4 and I don't think I am doing anything excessive on it.
No live backgrounds, GPS off, not too many widgets. Screen brightness set to low. I am running LP beta, flikie wallpapers w/ rotation, and beautiful widgets among others. I really don't have enough experience to know what could be draining the battery so quickly.
This is my first android phone and so far the battery life is not good. Others people in this forum are getting 10 - 12 hours on a single charge and I have to charge at least twice a day.
What should I do?
Can you please reply to this? Where can you tell awake time? I can't find it and I'm wondering why you'd reference it in your reply if it can't be detected?I'd be willing to bet that is the culprit. It took another 6 hours or so to get it back to 50%!! That's with continued moderate usage pattern! By the time I went to bed at 11pm it was 40% and holding!!

I don't have a X to tell you, but I did have an Eris on 2.1 and it was in menu>settings>about phone. Scroll all the way to the bottom. there were two times one was up time (that was essentially the time since the phone had been powered on) and awake time (theoretically the time you used your phone, but if a program was running in the background it would prevent your phone from sleeping) . The percentage is calculated as the percentage that wake time/up time. Again this is on the Eris. But if you download a program called Spare parts. It has a very indepth battery history and battery usage options to show you what is using CPU cycles, partial wake usage, etc.....

I was talking to my VZW rep yesterday, and he said that how you charge your X makes a big difference. Connecting it to a computer's USB port is only about 300mA compared to the wall adapter which I believe puts out 1000mA. So apparently, you get a fuller charge when using a higher powered USB port. It makes sense because I've noticed a better charge on my older phone when using the wall plug.
So if you are having battery problems, how are you charging it?
For me the battery life has been just fine and is significantly better than the Incredible (one of the main reasons I switched).
One of my main reasons as well. I'm getting, at best, about the same battery as my Incredible with the TP2 battery as well. That was one of my reasons for switching as well!! However, I found I am getting about the same battery life as from the Incredible when I had the TP2 battery in there.
Yeah, right now I have Weatherbug Elite widget turned off and I'm trying to gauge if that makes a difference.
I do have a battery widget running too, but I doubt that's using too much batter.
Screen brightness at 15%, timeout to 30 seconds. Smart mode. Only live widget is beautiful widget home weather. WIFI off, bluetooth off, gps on (only when called by apps)
Doesn't battery saver mode turn of your data after x amount of minutes without use? I think it is set to 10 or 15 mins. I need to be able to always receive my email so I had to count that out. Using smart mode I've been using SMS all day, snapped a pic, a 5 five minute phone call, bought movie tix, FB, check my Amazon account, etc and I am currently at 90%. Unplugged at 530amI had the same problem until I changed to battery saver mode. In smart mode I was losing battery with no phone calls and less than 10 texts within 8 hours. I don't know if Launcher Pro made a difference but it's a free app I installed in addition to switching to batter saver mode.

So a week ago, I got my DX and charged it to 100% before using it, and I was massively impressed with the battery life.
I fully charged it and unplugged it at 5:00am, I have about 40% by 7:00pm.
14 hours and I still had battery left. A ton of use too...Facebook, Pandora, internet, calls, news widget, you name it.
Today, one week later, I unplugged it at 10:00am, phone shut itself off at 5:00pm. Same amount of use, I even flipped to battery saver mode. So 7 hours battery life now?
Really? Funny thing is that the first 10% is gone after 20 mins...
Can anyone tell me what's happening?
My wife's DInc had 44% left by 5:00pm, unplugged at 6:00am.
I can't believe the DInc get's better battery life than my DX.
