Can you record videos that are longer then 30 minutes?

I was at my son's play this week and the video stopped at the 30 minute mark....I missed a few minutes of the play b/c of this....

Was the video in HD? If I recall correctly, if you scale down the resolution on the video, it will take longer shoots, similarly to taking lower resolution photographs will allow you to store more on the phone

Or I could be making things up here

Addendum question, I can't figure out how to take HD video longer than 30 SECONDS... How do you do that?

It's default that you're able to take 30 minutes of HD video at a time.

OP: Why are you using a cellphone to capture precious moments like that? You should use a standard camera for that with 720p video.
