Replacement Dialer for DX for those who want T9 (smart) dialing..

yours has iBAR, the other doesn't. How many speed dials do you have?

I scanned the thread - can't read it all (and still have a life). has anyone mentioned takephone? I am not affiliated in any way but it is more feature laden then dialerone and offers T9 searching for contacts. The developer seems extremely responsive to bug and feature requests and I am now using it most of the time.

EDIT: I just noticed something else weird... so Dialer One is just a shortcut to make phone calls? Because I just made a call and it actually switches over to the default dialer during the phonecall and then after the phonecall, I'm sitting on the default dialer..

I don't mind during the call having the default screen, but when the call is over, it returns to default dialer again. Is that what's happening for everyone else?

Not for me. You have to change your settings. Go to > dialer one then:

Settings > application settings > default view > choose your view. Yours is set to whatever you're going to.

Furthermore, if you scroll down in settings, you can choose "close after call".

This is highly configurable.

Not a good idea to debut your product on the forums if the link is broken, huh?

Hi,

Are you referring to aTAKEphONE ?
It does return after a call ends.

No, he's referring to the other program.

Thank you for the correct link. I'll try out your program. If I like it? I even throw a few bucks your way! (bucks - slang for American dollars). :)

Just tried the keyboard out. Thank you got that here trial. So far it seems awesome! I look forward to trying it out tomorrow!

TAKEphONE: I can't figure out how to assign speed dials to the numbers I want. Do I have to take what dialer gives me? That would be an issue for me. TIA.

Steven

I've decided against TAKEphONE because it would only allow me 12 speed dials. When I went to put in number 13 it said that the number was out of range. Also, I found the speed dial thing difficult to program. When I assigned a number to someone it automatically shifted everyone else's number. I would have to start from the lowest number every time, if I wanted to re-assign a lower number.

I do like the premise, so far, but I think it needs a bit of work before it deserves the status of "paid app" in my opinion. Dialer One does everything the TAKEphONE does, with the exception of the speed bar and the transparent background and it's free. So, I'm going to stay with that, but I would like to be kept informed as to when these issues are remedied. I would want to look at it again when they are addressed. I'd pay the three dollars then.

Steven

Steven58,

Dialer One actually does have a transparent background option, by the way (if I'm understanding correctly what you mean by that). Go to Settings > Application Theme > Wallpaper to set it up.

Im having an odd problem with my contacts in general but Dialer One undoes my only fix.

I know my contacts should be stored with my main gmail address but when I activated my phone and added the gmail account it only gave me about 20 contacts. They all seem to be the ones that I added after I got my droid not the ones that I had moved over from my previous smartphone via Verizons cable.

So I used MiQ and I still didnt see my contacts using the Blur Contact Icon. Even If I did a search it would not show up. The weird thing is they showed up when clicking on the dialer and clicking contacts.

The problem is when using the google search function they dont show up and when doing a contact search they do not show up only when using the dialer.

Now when using a new dialer (DialerOne) it is only showing the 20 contacts again.

Anyway to sync them all together? Or get dialer one to see the same contacts as my stock dialer?

Does anyone have any objection to my unsticking this thread or do you think it's still useful? Your call.

FYI, saw a note on the recent update for Dialer One saying the Froyo stock dialer cannot be overwritten, TIFWIW. If that's the case, I hope it's better than the one that came with the X originally. We shall see, soon enough, I suppose.

I think what he means is that when you make the call using dialer one, while in call you see the stock dialer. After the call ends, unless you have "not call log" installed and even checking the setting in dialer one to "close after call", you are still redirected back to the stock dialer.
