compatibility of games for psx4droid

Rooted Incredible but still running stock 2.1

Final Fantasy 7 - Some audio issues and the fast forward isn't working (tried mapping to the optical joystick and the search button). All in all I'm pretty satisfied. I'm not sure if my issues are ROM related or emulator related...

EDIT: Files are *.bin

Also, has anybody had any success at getting the fast forward to work? Would be nice for use in RGP's.....

just wanted to ask you guys which file formats you have got to work, so far i have found ecm files that have been converted to bin files work like a dream but i cant get other files to work.

I got a copy of GTA for example that came out in many different APE files but not getting anywhere with that.

BTW Rooted 2.1 Desire runs FFVII like a dream, while THPS has major rednering issues for me but not unplayable on warehouse level at least.

All in all, after i work out best FPS and Scaling for my Desire, plus a few more upgrades this is going to be by far the best thing ever. Great work again! Worth way more than $5.99

Droid Incredible 2.1 Stock

Final Fantasy VII - Great. Light slowdown at the beginning of battles sometimes, and occasionally pops in the sound

Chrono Cross - Seems playable, but a little slow, and I was having some input errors. Will retry later

Tactics Ogre - Freezes during dialogue before the first battle

Breath of Fire 4 - Perfectly playable but a graphical glitch blocks progress so you can't get very far

Thunderforce V - ~80% speed with sound on. Turning sound off brings it up to near full speed and is playable, just difficult with touch controls!

---

Gonna try Suikoden, Suikoden II, and a few others later.

bin, eboot and iso files have all worked fine for me. Eboots are nice, since usually compressed and take less space up.

you can use IceTea to compress the iso or bin files to eboot files. i hear this also make some games work a little better. sometimes it will compress it down to half size :D

Anyone running 2.2 Froyo with their psx4Droid? I am wondering if we will see performance gain with Froyo.

Easiest way to test: On stock HTC Evo using 2.1 with Snapdragon, Grand Turismo 2 run at 50% to 70% speed, if anyone have 2.2 device (or rom with 2.2) can you test it out with your device (and please let us know what device you are using). So rest of the us mortals who are running 2.1 or below know what kind of performance bump we can expect when Froyo finally arrive for our device.

Thank you for your help in advance :)

Star Ocean: Second Story works up until the third step of profile creation for new game. So unplayable at this point.

SaGa Frontier: has sound but black screen.

How come some games just don't display?

Droid 800mhz, all games have sound issues

Einhander: plays fine, could be faster but its very playable
Vagrant story: in my eboot, all the enemies don't do anything. I pummel them lifeless and get no loot
Alundra: plays 100% in buildings about 80 everywhere else
Evil Zone: 70% speed
Guardians crusade: 70% speed
Brave fencer musashi: 70%
Legend of Legaia: none of the roms go past learning a new art with tetsu

Confirmed working (all flawlessly so far) on Nexus One using Cyanogens Nightly, overclocked to 1190MHz:

Final Fantasy Tactics.PBP
Final Fantasy VII.PBP
Hot Shot Golf II.PBP
Breath of Fire III.PBP
Gran Turismo 2.PBP (a tad bit slow)
Warcraft II.PBP

I downloaded most of these as .bin.ecm then unecm'd them, then used the program to convert/compress them to PBP (PSP boot). The others were .iso files which I simply converted/compressed as well, just had to input the game ID manually (the site I use has the type and code listed with the file name). Haven't run across a single one not working so far since doing it this way. When trying to run them as bin, I came across a lot that wouldn't work. Taking that same exact download file and doing the above process, they worked perfectly.

Compression using icetea1.3 halves the file size in some instances, just an FYI.

So if Grand Turismo 2 is running slow on your Froyo Nexus One also, then it sounda like Froyo doesn't benefit psx4Droid, which is dispointing. I was hoping for when I upgrade my Evo to 2.2 I would able to play most games flawlessly :( I guess I just have to wait for GPU acceleration to be implemented.

It really wasn't slow like I think your thinking (if that makes sense). It wasn't choppy or glitchy. It ran pretty smooth overall. I think "slow" wasn't exactly the best word to use...

Is this for real? Because if so, this is a 2.2 Inc also using a Wii Classic Controller (not normally possible with SenseUI), so someone tell me how to get this immediately. This thing plays the games flawlessly and whilst using a bluetooth controller, dang.

I can not speak highly enough of this little program, for FFVII alone its knocked off nearly 0.6GB of file size ... everyone needs this program!

thats not the leaked 2.2. it shows the baseband version as 1.000somethin somethin and also it doesn't have senseUI showing

So you are saying you are able to get the game to run at full speed? On my stock Evo, the game also run smooth, but the speed of the game just run at a very slow speed (50% to 70% of normal), are you seeing the same thing?

As far as speed, Marvel vs Capcom plays smooth as butter on 2.1 as well. Cool control option though :) Based on the video, Gran Turismo 2 seems to play no smoother than on 2.1.

More games I have tested that play great:

1. ATV Racers
2. Nascar Rumble
3. Forsaken
4. Kula World
5. Test Drive 4 (sound is messed up)
6. Virtual Pool 3
Sure wish Devil Dice worked.....

BTW, with EA games, keep pressing the start button just before and after the EA logo appears. That has gotten some EA games to work, that locked at the logo.

Droid X
Working and Playable:Command and Conquer Retaliation, Warcraft 2, Vagrant Story, Resident Evil 3, Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions, Nightmare Creatures 2, Spyro the Dragon 2

Working and Unplayable(Graphics/Gameplay Issues):
Armored Core, Speed Punks, Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver, Wing Commander 4, Front Mission 3, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2

Good first start

What rom are you using for vagrant story? The enemies in my eboot are lifeless except bats.

To me, it feels like its running at full speed. If its not full speed, its definitely 80%-90%. It felt perfectly fine to me. My only issue was I was trying to control it with the on-screen dpad which made it feel "slow" (to better explain myself).

That is very good news, something to look forward to when I finally root and load CM6.

If it Is not too much trouble, can you try one more thing for me? Can you try out the X-Com UFO ROM to see if you can play the game at full speed without lags, that game lags big time for me, and also crashes often, I wounder if Froyo will solve both the lag and the crash problem. Thank you so much for your help.

Sure dude, when I jump on my modding PC I'll see if I can find that game and I'll check it out for you.

I'll report back when I find out.
