Well, I feel that my IQ went down just by reading that.
Yup. Same here. People are out doing these "studies" instead of finding cures for Cancer. Oh wait, we're supposed to walk 14K to raise money for that one.
I don't think a study is needed to show that atheists are smarter than religious folk.
Atheist: "We are here because of millions of years of evolution and natural selection."
Religion: "We are here because a huge invisible being lit a match, farted, and created the universe. Humans lived with dinosaurs. If you disagree you'll be punished. lolz"
Pretty cut and dry to me.

Just because your view is different doesn't mean it's as valid as the opposing view. People don't criticize creationism because it's different or because it's a minority, they criticize it because it's complete junk.
Lets keep in mind that this study has been peer-reviewed so they aren't pulling this stuff out of their asses.
I'm just always baffled on how easily people dismiss creationism. What proof is there that a deity does not exist? Who's to say that all our scientific discoveries are part of the universe that a god created?
If you haven't done more than take evolution at face value, then you wouldn't recognize the giant gaps and leaps of "faith" that it requires to believe in evolutionary theory. In many instances, there is very little science present, hence the label "theory".
Creationism and/or certainly takes "faith" as well. I just don't have enough faith in what I have seen to be an atheist.

I never said I had proof that one exists. I just asked to show proof that it doesn't. I never claimed there was a god, as much as I claimed that there wasn't.

Same old recycled logical fallacies. You can't prove a negative. The burden of proof is on the believers.
Plenty of things in science are peer-reviewed but are proven wrong or flops. Ask Christa McAuliffe. If she had a second chance she'd "peer-review" the **** out of the launching pad and her shuttle and she'd still be in six different counties twenty minutes later.
Science has failed many times. It's cliche but there is no 100% answer for either side on the matter. If you're anxious to find out, make a Clorox-Drano martini and let us know from the other side if there is a God.
I'm not making a case for either side here. I'm saying no one will be right until we all die and see for ourselves.

Agreed. I lean conservative, but on many issues I stand right in the middle. Both etremes on both sides are riduculous. To agree with everything or mostof a "party" agrees with is pure... crap. I don't let people or media influence my decisions.
Odd though, I am a monogmoist, always been nocturnal,(actually I don't sleep much at all, but I prefer night time. Coller weather, no sunburn, and the sun bothers my eyes on really bright days), and I don't believe in some all powerful being. However liberalism at its core, some of the parties views are just down right.. dumb.
Global Warming is a theory comprised of thousands of scientific studies, mostly peer-reviewed, some not. Furthermore, I'm not quite sure what your point is.

Of course! That's what makes science so successful. It thrives on being proven wrong and being corrected. Creationism, on the other hand, isn't falsifiable. This means that assumes it's position as "correct" without being tested, observed, etc (and the rest of the scientific method that you learned in elemtary school)... Because of this, no one can really tell whether it is correct or not and as a result there isn't any valid reason to believe in it.

Science never really made sense to me especially that "big bang" thing. I mean, if the Newton guy says "Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it." And the Universe back then was simply nothing, then how did it become something, when there was nothing. I mean you cant make nothing out of nothing. Thats like, dividing by zero. It doesnt make sense.
The fact that you don't understand the Big Bang Theory isn't it's fault, but your own. Even the Wikipedia article clearly states that before the Big Bang, the universe was a singularity.
Furthermore, just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it isn't true.

I HATE it when people say "oh its just a theory" when they have no idea what a theory is in regards to the scientific method.
Theory: A theory is more like a scientific law than a hypothesis. A theory is an explanation of a set of related observations or events based upon proven hypotheses and verified multiple times by detached groups of researchers. One scientist cannot create a theory; he can only create a hypothesis.
