Battery problems, quirks and issues: Read first.

Instead of the USB top-off method here is something I have been doing the last 5 days with the same success as the USB top-off.

Charge my phone normally with the supplied charger.
When I get up (6am), I unplug my phone and replug it in. It initiates the charging process again. It usually takes me 30-40 minutes to get ready in the morning. As has been stated, the phone after it reaches full charge, stops charging and then runs off battery each night, resulting in the immeidate drop to 80% or so for many as they pull it off the charger. It's not actually dropping, it's just the meter/widget etc, refreshing the display from the phone being asleep all night with not screen updates.

Same process could be used in a car on the way to work, instead of doing the unplug/plug thing each morning like I have.

Been staying in the 90% or greater range for around 4-5 hours. Phone never dies during my day and at worst has been at 15% when I plug it at 10-11pm each night. Again, I leave wifi and GPS enabled all the time.

Now, lets get the aGPS feature properly enabled and I'll be one super happy fun camper.

I already knocked on wood, so I feel safe posting this

this morning I took my phone off the wall charger when it said battery fully charged and within 2 minutes it dropped to 80%, so I decided to try the USB trick once more. I put it on the usb and it charged another 60 minutes or so and now I have 100% battery for 45 minutes. I've actually never even seen the battery at 100% for more than 30 seconds.

seriously, thank you everybody for posting your tips and tricks in this forum, even if it is something smallish I'm sure someone will benefit from your advice.

OEM Samsung Battery Code i220 Propel Pro i627 m850 m900 - eBay (item 290371453083 end time Dec-17-09 15:13:23 PST)

I am getting two days out of my phone with reasonable use. I think one of the problems is that people are downloading battery apps that tell % of battery left expecting the phone to show changes in small increments. Get rid of the battery widgets and you won't obsess on battery life. I used the battery app that told you the amount of time left, which gave me more confidence. With 15% left, it was telling me that I had 2 hours of use time and tens of hours of standby.

I've cycled the battery quite a few times with no success. Is there certain apps that are unning on the samsung moment that someone knows that we could kill. Because I'm clueless. Also wha does topping it off? Is that when you put it back on the charge after pulling it off?

Cycling the battery helps your phone to estimate the battery life correctly, not extend the battery life.

'Topping it off' means using the wall charger to charge it all the way up without pulling it off the charger at any time before it finishes, then switching it over to the USB charger to 'trickle' more power on top of that (if possible).

IMO, get advanced task manager (or another good app killer/manager). It's a couple bucks from the app market, but it allows you to see all the apps that are running, and add some to an 'excluded' list so that you don't accidentally close them (like the task manager itself). And also create a list of apps that are supposed to auto-kill at a certain point in case you forget to kill them with the task manager when you are through.

Like many have already posted (and should be included in the OP, I'm not sure if it has) make sure you hold down on an open space in your background, then select 'widgets', then open the large weather app, and change its setting to a specific area code rather than 'track location' (via GPS).

Make sure you get the 'Quick Settings' app from the app market so you can quickly, efficiently, and easily activate/deactivate your Wifi/GPS/bluetooth. And as with every phone, turn down your screen brightness all the way. It's not as low as you might think (certainly not as low as the 15% mode) and it saves battery.

Pretty much anything that uses GPS should be killed if you are not using it, and disable Wifi if you are not using that either. And don't forget to download 'Spare Parts' so you can track your battery consumption more efficiently.

That's everything off the top of my head.

I don't know what to do. I've discharged the battery twice. Charged it to full both times. I'm only using it for moderate text, maybe browsing te droid forums for 10 minutes and after about 5 hours of use with no voice calls and I'm down to 30% I know this phone is a battery hog but man. Nothing I try works. I thought it was the battery so I brought it to sprint and they said its fine. It is though constantly accessing something on the internet. Even if background data is off it is still doing it. I manually shut off and forced stopped weather app, twitter, and the messenger app. I don't know what else to do. I don't know how ome people are able to get up to 10 hours of use off their phone like they claim. Just to let you guys know I have the samsung mobile.

Had a unique but serious issue with this phone. Swapped it out today for a new one. Letting it drain all the way to start conditioning... 6hrs later and waiting for it to die... without anything close to a half charge to start....
I'll keep you all updated...

I think I may have found a possible fix.

I downloaded OpenHome to skin my GUI, and the following day the battery went from lasting 4 hours to lasting over 10 with more use. It may be coincidence, but there is possibly an issue with the stock UI.

Lol I wish

I've had open home for a week and my battery is still pretty bad...I had a relatively decent battery day, but still not great.

I also forgot, I've read places saying that the phone isn't sleeping properly. How can you tell if your samsung moment is actually sleeping and not sucking up battery. And as far as it connecting to the internet without me actually running an app, I'm not sure what it is. GPS, Wi FI, auto sync, my weather app has been set to a certain address, but yet it's still connecting for what reason I don't know. When I look at the spot where it sais EVDO i can see it downloading something but not sure, any fix for this or has anyone had this problem?

my phone was getting horrible battery results. I tried the conditioning process several times. Spare parts told me my battery was running at a high percentage when the phone should have been resting.

So, I keep GPS, BT, WiFi, AutoSync, and background apps off. This phones screen is so bright, I keep it a little less that 1/2...just a smidge. I keep all audio settings at just a bit less than half.

Took my phone off the charger at 12:30pm yesterday....at 8:54am today, I have 40% battery left.

There are two programs that are essential to battery manangement on this phone. Quick Settings and Spare Parts. Get them both. I don't use all the widgets for bt, wifi,etc... Quick Settings can reside in the notifications area. There is every power settings option you need right at your finger tip.

Spare Parts let me know I was running 90%batter while sleeping. In the period I just mentioned above, my phone has used 4%.

when you say sleeping, you are talking about when you lock the phone to turn the screen off? and also last night I did the usb top off and I have a battery widget that when the battery was done charging it would say 100% but it would never say it's full.. I did the top off method last night and it sais full right now. Would the top off method work by unplugging and just plugging it in back to the wall charger? or does it have to be a computer usb?
