Froyo

I had NO idea that froyo was dropping today. I just signed up for the forum because I was a long time lurker. I found this thread and just read EVERY post in here because of the total awesomeness.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED WITH THE 2.2 UPLOAD!

why not switch the Handcent SMS and drop the stock POS messaging app. you can trick Handcent SMS out with colors, bubble colors, fonts, notification icons and sounds and options all on a person by person basis.. Handcent SMS was the first app I ever got for my Droid.

I prefer the stock. Don't need all the fancy stuff, although it is highly customizable and pretty slick. I know if i get it i'll be stuck on it for hrs just trying to custo it.. lol

Well, I updated to Froyo, and I must say I like the changes. One question, though: Now, when I plug my phone unto the USB plug, I get a pop up asking me if I want to mount my SD card. Is there a way I can keep it from doing that? Normally, all I do is use it to charge my phone.

So my phone doesn't have a "silent" option anymore after the update. Anyone else having this issue or is it just a "feature" of 2.2?

unfortunately, no, unless you want to automount the SDCard in your phone to your computer.

go to sound settings in the menu, from what i see, you have to choose whether you want vibrate OR silent...

I have the same problem. If I use the volume down button it only goes to vibrate. I found that by using the volume on off widget that you can get to silent mode, but not by using the silent mode option by holding down power or by using volume down.

I don't really care for it myself, I like the old methodology better, but I have since gotten used to it, so it is not too bad anymore.

how can i check mine?

I ran the quadrant benchmark, and under system before the update was max 550, current 550. benchmark was 341. After the update (I let it sit and do stuff for about 20 min, rebooted), I got 824, and under system listed max as 800, current as 600 right after running the benchmark (not sure how fast the default powermanager steps the clock down).

Yeah, I (and probably a lot of others, but I know he responded to me) tweeted him about the OTA, and he got up and rooted it and went back to camping :D

I got 817 with the same CPU settings...

I saw. I was watching his twitter page thanks to your post earlier. I'm running a backup with titanium and then will clean install this new update. I'm very psyched. I love his comment about the tethering in the kernel. :D

Did you installe the flash showcase - (that is not flash).

If you installed the real flash, did you reboot?
