Root Pete has the official FroYo rooted

downloading this will not root you, you have to already be rooted to use this ROM.

but, your a great test case to find out if 2.2 can be rooted since you have updated already you say. You could download that new just released Easy Root app for $1 and see if you can root your 2.2.. if you can, you prove that 2.2 is still rootable and then you can also take advantage of all the root benefits.

I'd actually be willing to try this, just for the fun of it, but it don't seem to be on the market anymore.

I have followed some posts and here is the rooted 2.2 OTA. According to these posts which have been on some of the forums around.

Peter Alfonso: Download: Droid OTA Update Froyo Rooted Full ROM

You can also get the file from my server:

Hope someone finds this useful I am a little gun-shy as to putting this on myself yet. Still too busy playing with the stock 2.2.

StrifeJester, it's very nice of you to provide an additional download link, but Pete likes to track downloads (which is why he says in his official post about this--at the first link you provided: "Blogs, Forums, etc, feel free to post this on your site but please provide a link to my site. Also please use this download link: http://bit.ly/otafroyo"). I think you would be honoring Pete's wishes best if you removed your separate download link.

Thanks,

I opened Rommanager and clockwork recovery and went to Install rom from sd card where I downloaded I then found the file C_01.43.01P. I tapped the file and got the Reboot and Install prompt. The screen went blank and then the motorola icon popped back up and the phone rebooted but I am still at the same baseband.
I restarted the phone and it would not start. Took the battery out and it started up but still at the original baseband. Any thoughts?

Sometimes clockwork sucks. Try again.

I have tried 3 times and each time I had to remove the battery to get er going again. I am getting a bit gunshy that I might brick something?

When I open rommanager after if fails it gives me some options to try to fix:
1. Flash Alternative Recovery
2. Enabe erase recovery in Rom Manager settings.
3. Clear Download Cashe
4. Flash older recovery
5. Flashboot or SBF a recovery from your PC

I cleared the download cashe but have not tried the others for fear of screwing something up. What is the worst thing that could happen if I Enable erase recovery from Rom manager settings?

Thanks

Strange enough, this won't work right on my Droid. Dl'd and loaded it up and after a few mins it slows down and locks the phone up and have to batt pull. I've had lots of problems with Froyo roms and only one will keep working albeit haltingly-CM6 RC2. RC1 would not work,2 does for some bizarre reason. I figured certainly since this is the authentic deal straight from the horses mouth that it would work,..nope. So right now I'm sticking with my CM5.0.8 because it's running stable and will keep trying to get the CM6 RC2 as stable as this is,somehow....
