Root {ROM}Suave Smush! Sense UI feel without all the hassle!

Ok. Latest update. I fixed some the colors, updated the kernel and have been putting my apps back on. I must say this is my favorite rom so far so good.

I removed handcent because I personally don't like it. Now have to follow the steps to get the double sms notification off. Great work my friend, great work.

Ok, I did a nand back up of Suave and restored my previous Rom. (Basically just stock with zanfur's kernel) What I found was that things are much more responsive and snappy with the old sense ui. After I did the nand backup on my suave install, things seemed to slow down or lag more. Even though I was getting 5 mflops and this stock Rom is getting 2.3-3 mflops. I don't get it.

I thought sense ui was what was slowing most roms down.

Edit: Things are much better I have found much of the lag depended on some ADW settings, cache etc...

This ROM looks like the one I've been searching for (Sense feel, vanilla speed). Downloading!

Q: Do I need to do a data/factory reset and davlik cache wipe before I flash this rom? Or can I just flash it and it will pick up my apps and accounts?

I'm going to flash it anyways, just want to know if I have to re-install all my apps and re-sync my accounts once I do.

I was told to always do a backup first, next perform a wipe, then flash your new ROM.

About the apps.. i'm not sure. I downloaded mine again since I can't figure out how to get them on my sd card.

Ok, so the apps thing answered itself: did a data/factory wipe, flashed the ROM plus the google apps and tsupdate zips, rebooted, and my installed apps started to automatically recover and re-install. Score! EXCEPT: None of the apps could actually install, because "internal memory is low." This despite my phone saying there is 128mb of free memory.

This actually happened with White Widow 4.6 as well, but this ROM looked nicer so I uninstalled WW and went with Suave Smush. But now I can't install any of my apps (none stored on SD card, btw) and I can't install new ones either.

I love the look of Suave Smush and want to run it, but it's pretty bare-bones if I can't install any apps. Ideas?

Also, the Notifications bar at the top is black and I can't read any of the notifications. I tried to change the colors in Spare Parts and reboot, but nothing changed. I know this is an easy fix, but I can't find it :)

I did a data/factory wipe and a dalvik cache wipe then installed the rom. I had the low memory error once when I did it without wiping the dalvik cache.

Love this ROM, but have another question. What do you do to bring the screen on for options when in a call? My screen is blank like the proximity censor doesn't work.

Sorry to add into the n00b questions for this. Truly I am, but here is another one. I plan to use the root method where you only have to use your phone, no pc/mac. Is it possible to do all the patches needed for this? I have the proper touch screen driver so that should not be a problem, but the JIT patch and the MMS patch are what are concerning me.

I'm no expert but my experience with this ROM is that you can do everything from the phone with possibly the only exception being the flashing of Conap's kernel. There are some ADB commands for the MMS fix but I use Google voice for all my texting so I wasn't concerned about all that. This is a very good ROM. My only issue is trying to figure out how to turn the screen on when the screen goes blank during a call.

In case anyone was having the same problem. With this ROM, if you're on a call and the screen goes blank. Don't panic. Just hit the green Answer key and the screen will turn on. Then hit menu for options or open up the number pad by sliding up. ;-)

Every day I am liking this ROM more and more.

All of a sudden I've been having gmail syncing problems. I don't know if it's the rom or something with the network. It just started within the last day or so. Never had a problem with Gmail before.

I should probably go back and reread the handcent parts, Does that program send the MMS messages or is the stock message that only has the problem. I will probably find out tomorrow at work when I do this.

ive posted an mms fix for the stock messenger app-no longer do you need to use handcent-but i cant rememvber if i posted here or on WW. look around.

Copy, I saw the fix for the stock messenger program. I was wondering if it would work for handcent. I enjoy handcent. Also, do I need to be connected to a computer to do the patch fixes? I did the easy peasy version of rooting. That is the means in which I plan to flash again.

Thanks, Jeff

I flashed this ROM, checked it out, and only have one problem - i can't get my exchange account to work. I'm not sure how it won't work on 2.2 (2.2 - like) ROMs. Any suggestions? I think I would probably stick with this one if I could get my "corporate" email account up and running.

Ok, as much as I love this Rom. I have become increasingly frustrated. I have flashed it clean now twice and set up all my apps etc and make some minor adjustments in settings for the launcher bar at the bottom of the screen. I also updated apps thru the market. But for some reason over time the screen lag increases and launching apps becomes slower. To the point where it is unbearable. Despite how much I love this Rom I have to have one that remains quick, fast and snappy. I have tried a host of things to no avail, such as clearing cache, setting launcher to remain in memory, adjusting autokill, changing profile and settings in setcpu etc. I just think there is something going on that gradually slows everything down most pronounced of course is lag in the ui and responsiveness.

Any special steps to take before flashing this rom? I'm still pretty new to this and don't want to mess anything up.

Thanks,

Eric

My clock on the notifiction bar is black... It's very dificult to read and I haven't found out how to change it. This is a beautiful rom and runs really smooth, but I wish I could read the clock. :(
