Help Why is my Droid X sooooo slow?

My X is running slow, however it's only when going back to the home screen. When I power up my phone for the day, it's snappy. From an app back to the home screen is 2 secs or less. However as the day goes on it gets slower and takes 4 secs. Then in the evening it slows down even more to the 7-8 sec range. This is the only thing that is slow. Everything else is fast, its just lags when I go back to the home screen.

I"ve killed tasks and processes to no avail. Any ideas?

try using the back button to get back to the home screen instead of the home key

Of course its very snappy right now so I can't try that. But still, that's not a solution if I'm 3 pages deep into an app and need to get back to the home screen.

This seems to be intermittent as well. I can't figure it out.

Well its the solution if you don't want the app the keep running in the background. Seriously? This problem bugs you enough to type a post out, but not enough to hit the back button a few more times to CORRECTLY exit an app? Seriously that takes a half a second. Read up on the correct way to exit applications in the Android OS.

Mine was doing the same thing (plus a few other nasties) and CS shipped me a new one which is night and day better. This things is amazing fast and the battery lasts 15 hours for me.

its not a defective phone. If it works at first and gets worse throughout the day, then you got something hogging cpu running in the background. You need to check out running services and see what NON system apps are running that you don't want running. This is a result of a bad application(s).

I have had the same problem with my droid x. i got it the day it came out and its been slugish ever since and i finally got tired of it. i took the sd card out and it is faster but does this mean i need to get a new card or format it or what? thanks in advance

No task-killer.. Again, no apps at all. I'm not even opening anything but messages.

I really hope its not a bad one because them I'm stuck with it until after next friday (I take it they won't have any available until all the other orders ship out). I can't goto the store because they can't pull up my account (I have a discount that doesn't allow me to do things in the store).

I'm considering a full wipe and starting over.. I synced google and facebook at the same time and maybe something got messed up?

This is just the beginning. It is amazing how many users have had to have their Droid X's replaced. I am on my 3rd.

Welcome to the world of the Droid X!

3 times? Your SD card must be bad, incompatible, or too slow. I've had just one and it does everything fast, and the battery life seems like it's 2-3x an iphone!

Welcome to the world of the droid X :D:D

I'd get one of the log collector apps available and pull some logs to see if there are a lot of errors being thrown. This will help track down the problem rather than just guessing an what issues might be present.

Something like aLogcat, Catlog or Log Collector.

I had this same issue. My Driod was going soooo slow that I could not do anything on it at all. It literally took me 10 minutes to get into the running applications to fix the problem.

I had tried re-booting it.. I used task killer... I eventually had to delete all data on my

and force stop it. As soon as I did that it was back to normal.

Word of advice, don't use that Yahoo Messenger app until they release a new version. The current release will frustrate you into wanting to chuck your phone at a wall.

As said in previous posts I would go into your running apps and start force stopping them until you find the cause.

yahoo app has been a known problem for months. I don't even grap my yahoo mail (or even use it at all).

But this has been in the media for a long time now. I think that one of the companies made a fix though. Yahoo did NOT conform to RFC's, which broke a lot of clients, especially battery life.

Yahoo was the problem, not android.

Any solution to this problem? I have a Droid 2 and it takes 4 secs to go from SMS to Camera, or to email, or to contacts, or to anything else. I tried all the killers, uninstalled the killers, wifi on/off, even data on/off, battery saver on/off, reset, SD out/in, etc.

Everything is factory OEM on my device.

My son's Optimus V seems to be faster than my expensive phone!

Is there a defect with mine? Please help!
