Xperia X10 Issues List

Hey guys:

I have a problem in my xperia x10.. wifi got connected and disconnected automatically within 1 min.. could u please let me know how to over come this issue

Makes me laugh, Sony say on their website "it can't hurt to run the update service routinely just to make sure everything is up to date and working properly" or something along those lines. So, i do as they said, and now the damn alarm doesnt work properly! Previously it would sound for a few mins and if you didnt attend to it, it would go into snooze mode, and sound again after the predefined time. Now after the update - to R2BA023, the alarm sounds for 1 minute, and if you don't press snooze in that time, the phone turns the alarm off altogether!! Great. Nice one SE.

Hey guys:

I have a problem in my xperia x10.. wifi got connected and disconnected automatically within 1 min.. could u please let me know how to over come this issue

got the same problem with my previous x10... took it back and they gave me a new one... seems like wifi on x10 handsets is pretty much luck (since the one i got now connects only to certains networks, the funniest thing is it doesn't connect at my home, lol)

I had a problem with my wifi at home too. I tried many different things to try and resolve the problem, including turning off my router security to no avail

In the end I got fed up and just jammed my USB lead into the router. The X10 connected and has stayed connected after I unplugged the USB. Sometimes the best solution is the easiest :)

Hope this helps.

From what i tested ,it's the operator's fault OR you need to get a new SIM card [probably it's loosing signal].

Thanks for your reply. I thought the same thing too. However, after contacting the operator technical staffs, they said it was x10's software problem. The android software is not stable as compare to iOS.

Is this true? Is there anyone in the forum face same problem?

I've had no problems with connectivity. I've always been able to connect to my wifi at home, my friend's house, and at Starbucks with ease.

Still my gripe with this phone is the stupid battery. I swear it's getting worse

For the guy with the earphone issue, try putting your phone on vibrate and use meridian media player and let me know how it works for you
P.s - go into its settings n adjust the music options such as continuing music after call n so forth

Hope it helps!!

Sim cards have absolutely nothing to do with signal... if it was possible you could remove it from the handset whilst making a call and nothing would happen ;)

First smart phone ever.
Was moving provinces..actually..moving a few provinces over for a business opp and needed a new phone. old nokia was not going to help me access emails etc.
guy recommended the x10.
i want to find him and kill him..........

1. crashes on me all the time. i do not want to keep repairing thru the sync software and having to back stuff up..i want a phone that does not crash.
2. did i mention crashes?
3. crashes.
4. works great..then suddenly..you guessed it crashes.....it powers off..sony etc comes up....then provider..then sd card readying...then i unlock..go back into whatever crashed it....
i.e. could be checking email..for sure could be google maps that worked great then lately it is buggy and shuts system down...today it happened so many times in a row i wanted to smash this f'ng thing to pieces!!!!!!!
google navigation? dont even think about that beta program on this phone..it will work..then one day it will crash several times leaving you in speeding traffic not knowing suddenly which exit to take..happened to me so many times in this new city i dont know from the back of my head. imagine a totally new city, you dont even know the streets and highways and the gps maps crashes all the time.

5. camera got stuck a couple times, wouldnt let me close it, wouldnt go to main screen. today.. a new fun issue..it had smile detection on and when i pushed to turn it off the screen flickered and fleetingly showed the screen with choices of options, then flickered back to not give me time to change anything. it laughed at me as i frustratingly tried to turn it off and could not get into that menu.
6. keyboard sucks it. why does it seem so buggy? why is it lagging and i am not even that fast a typer? why does it occasionally stutter out several of these i.e.
"how aaaaaaare....yoou...toddddddday. ok..i exaggerate...but it has happened.
7. swype does not even work or is not offered for it yet so ...i wait
8. those that say multi touch is not a deal breaker have used the phone for a day..or two at most. i too thought that. but when in maps...having to search for or move the screen just to get a magnifying glass to show...then hit it..then back a bit...aaargh...just give me multi touch.
9. games. i am not a gamer but downloaded two that crashed each time i tried to use them. found out that it was due to them not being able to work with 1.6. sigh...i will wait for 2.2...oh thats right....2.1...not 2.2. i wish i were a geek techie..but i am not..but i know now that i bought a already ancient phone and its only 2wks old but the os is oooooooooooooooooold.
10. the fonts used are too small. in contacts the space between a home or cell number for example is so tiny and small you accidentally hit the wrong stuff all the time.
11. phone loudness and ear section. horrible. i have to on each call if not in bluetooth (which is great in bluetooth i must say...its not all bad) i have to constantly move the phone around searching for that elusive specific tiny spot you must put it...to hear the other person, otherwise you cannot hear them at all...or barely...now they tell me i sound good..but i almost have to physically push the phone into my ear until the pressure makes my ear hurt to strain to hear them.
using an ex GF's blackberry recently...i almost cried at the huge clarity and ease of hearing someone..then back to my new sony? i cried again...at the poor sound...and the teeny tiny little opening you must put exactly near your ear to hear.

you know what..there are so many tiny other issues....like the software which with sync from sony seems to almost shut my whole computer down...it clogs it and hogs memory and makes it so slow..it is cumbersome...man..it literally on set up was running for 24 hrs..it kept trying to use my whole music library to create this 'sense' crap.
i learned later it can make mood suggestions.....how bout angry..angry it takes you so long to create this crap?

overall i am locked into a three yr plan, just got this new 36 mth commitment with this phone literally two weeks ago..and already want to crush this crap phone that looks nicer than any other cell phone on the planet...but is all looks and horrible on what runs it.
if i could afford it...i would literally crush the hell out of this thing.

My 3G is turned off and i can't turn it back on!! I've tried everything it's driving me to the point where i am about to smash this piece of shit phone into a million little pieces.

Bassically i got to work this morning and tried to connect to the 3g so i could go on my Facebook. I usually keep my 3g on all the time even though it wastes battery. When i realised it wouldn't connect to the 3g i tried turning MMD & Data on and off again to see if that would work but instead the 3g logo with the little arrows at the top of the screen just disapeared and wont come back on no matter what i try!

Please please please please help me coz im really getting stressed now and i dont want to break the phone as i have only just got it.

(p.s appologies for any bad spelling )

Mikey, not sure if you've checked it but in phone settings -> wireless & network settings -> mobile network settings, make sure you have 'use only 2G networks' unchecked and Data Enabled checked.

It could be your SIM card, if you know someone with a smart phone, put your SIM card inoto their phone to see if 3G works. And try your friend's SIM card on your phone ot see if 3G works.

MMS/data and Data Roaming should both be on. Mine's set to NetworkMode=GSM/WCDMA, and there's a selected entry under AccessPointNames (I thought this might be WiFi, but it's actually the 3G connection).
I did have a roughly similar problem - turned out that the uSIM wasn't in properly. Just powered down, removed battery and uSIM. Wiped the uSIM contacts with a clean cloth (spec cleaner) and put everything back in.
My Wifi but that works fine i can't connect to my works WiFi network coz i dont know the password
Warning - I wouldn't do that, a lot of companies use proxy servers, so your traffic can be intercepted. Likewise, I'd be very wary of using McD's etc free Wifi for the same reason.
But then again, I'm paranoid!

dude....even those that love the x10...would never claim they get 2 days battery life out of this thing...heck..you can leave it plugged in and even the fans admit it trickles all the power out...
so you must be making it up..or work for sony.
and saying i like others should be using a warranty? if you drove the car off the lot and it stalled in traffic...then started up...then stalled..then started..then stalled...then started...then stalled...would you be relying on a warranty?
so soon? I had mine do this within five days...no way am i accepting a $700 phone does this within less than a week. my phone reboots several times a day. I just did..yet another repair process which sucks..as you lose some of the programs you downloaded and must do over...
two days battery life? no way.

I'm not trying to discount your problems or anything and I am sorry to hear that you are having such problems but I love my X10 and I usually get around 2-3 days out of one charge. 4 days sometimes if I don't use it so much.

Grrrr, I cannot wait for the update, I see all these cool apps and everytime I go to use them they are for 2.1 or up. And now Flash is out for 2.2. I think I will have to move to the states so I can buy a Evo or Droid....LOL.. Well hopefully the update will be out in Sept and then we can start all over again wanting 2.2 LMAO

i found a tip for more characters on the keyboard. if you hold a letter in th will give you a little pop to change to a different one, for example if you hold in the $ signn it will pop up with a list of all the other money types. another example is the ? you can get the

Does anyone know whether the X10 can use the stylus pen? I have one here that I used on my LG Eve but it will not work on the X10, I wanted to know whether you can buy one for it or is it just not able to use one.

Why shud we use stuylus when it has a 4-inch Compacitive Touch Screen btw stylus luks nooby and it doesn't has 1 SO:rolleyes:

I'm new to this forum and new to smart phones but I am puzzled why everyone basically thinks this is a good phone. My previous phone was a Nokia N95 and it's functionality in many respects was far superior. Stick with me before you fall on the floor guffawing. Here's my list:

- Battery life is abysmal - a few minutes of internet access and 5% is used up. Makes very little difference if you turn off data synch.
- Email software out of the box is hopeless and force closes all the time.
- Calendar layout is nuts. Could they have made the times any smaller? I didn't know there was a font that small!
- The phone, aside from contacts cannot be searched, most particularly, the calendar. Try to find when you made an appointment with someone.
- Speaker volume, as others have noted, is simply unacceptable.
- If you change the label of a mobile phone number in the phone book, it won't appear as a mobile number available to you in sms's.
- Apps cannot be backed up if you have to reset the OS. Too bad if they cost a lot.
- Can't send business card, or a phone contact, by text or email. You can only bluetooth them.
- There is no provision for checking internet data usage on the phone. Even my carrier couldn't believe this one.
- No camera flash. What the....?
- And the camera takes forever to load.
- Cannot turn the phone off while charging. If you do, it turns itself on again. Do SE have some deal going with the power companies? For some reason I can't figure out, because of this, when I charge the phone overnight, sometimes the phone is not fully charged. My wife and I each have one of these phones and it happens with both of them.

Aside from smart phone specific functions, not one of these is a problem with the Nokia N95, a much older generation phone.

What's good about them? Only what's good generally with smart phones. But if I didn't live in a remote area with poor coverage and need this phone because it seems to work better than most in this area - it's only real positive - I would have it on eBay in a blink.
