All signs point to september for Froyo 2.2 for the D X. I had it on my D 1 and miss it already. The marketplace is so much better in 2.2.

Gosh, I'm sure glad someone posted a thread asking when 2.2 will arrive.

There sure haven't been a dozen other, easily searchable threads on this same topic containing links and projected release dates. Nope.

We definitely needed one. So, thanks, finaticmw!

It is good to have something great and interesting to wait for ! Also, I agree wholeheartedly that the Droid 1 people should get it before us. The Droid X is a superior phone, it runs great on 2.1. Very happy I chose this one !

I happened to get in touch with a friend who works at Verizon who is selling his old droid because he upgraded to an X. I asked him a few times about the update and He told me to keep my eyes open on the 23rd of August. Don't know how reliable it is, but made my heart flutter a bit.

I posted this in a newer thread, but since this is the "official" thread, thought I would here too. I talked to a friend who works for Verizon who recently upgraded to a Droid X. After a bit of prodding about 2.2, He told me to pay attention on August 23rd. May be garbage, maybe not. Just thought I would share.

Apparently some people missed the sticky about giving newcomers crap for not using the search function.

Regardless, 2.2 is coming. I don't know why some people get so pissed about having to wait a little while for updates. If you didn't already know, your phone can do some amazing things with the archaic 2.1 version of Android.

I dont know if there's a thread for EVO Froyo issues, but there are tons! Lots to do with audio, in my experience:

-when using google nav and pandora, when the nav talks, it pauses pandora and does not resume play
-when my car speakers are plugged into headphone jack, I can hear but not be heard on a call
-when using a third party car usb power adapter and micro usb cable, all music apps are unable to read the SD card, even though usb mode is set to power only

all this worked before!

ok?

ps.. I have been a droid user since day one... my wife is a droid 1 user... I have converted a dozen blackberry users to droid at work. All of these people look to me for support (even the wife) and having 2.2 would make my life easier. I guess I could break out and dust off my old droid 1 but I was hoping to put 2.2 on my X.

Is 2.2 Availavble for Droid X via download yet? I'm a bit pissed that the Droid 1 users are getting the OTA and here I am with an X and have no idea when I will be getting it.

The Droid 1 is running Vanilla Android, so I'm not surprised that they are getting 2.2 first. And we'll get it when we get it.

It isn't available for the Droid X yet period. It hasn't been released to the public yet in any way, shape, or form. Birdman, who has a dev X phone, has a build of Froyo on it and is packaging it up for release. He hasn't given much other information on it, other than the fact that he does actually have 2.2 on the phone and he will try to release it as soon as possible. If you're wanting 2.2 on your X sooner than the official September release, then Birdman and his copy is your best bet.

Is everything ok?

Have any dates been mentioned besides "Early September"?

Heh...not even sure where you are picking up the word EARLY.

It was stated with the announcment of the Droid X on June 23, 2010 that 2.2 would be available by late summer....which summer's last day is 9/20. It has never been stated otherwise by Verizon or Motorola. just a lot of rumor spreading and hype on various websites who in my opion do a dis-service by making claims of an impending update only to get to that point and it is not true.

I am eager to get it like a lot of others, but I would much rather the update be free of bugs rather than have it rushed out the door to appease those that are complaining. If that were to happen, these will be some of the same people that will be complaining about how buggy the update is.

This might be the last major update Droid 1 users get. (I've played with a D1 a couple times, it needs all the help it can get.)

Consider yourself lucky you might also get 3.0.

LOL jreed. I just noticed something. When you try to make your entire message all caps, and the forum auto-corrects it when you post, it also auto-corrects any quotes that you've inserted. ^^

Sorry for off-topic-ness. :o

Well I know the auto-correction on all caps is obviously to prevent caps spam, but I find it funny that it also attempts to correct any quotes that you've inserted. Silly bug.
