Hello Fro-droids! hehe :) I have some news for all you Froyo Bunnies!

Last we heard about the Motorola Droid X getting some Froyo, the date of "early summer" and "by early September" were being thrown around. That might be about to change, as a forum poster on My Droid World seems to have gotten his hands on the DX's Froyo release. In addition to posting some pictures, he goes on to promise that the update is "less than 24hrs away." Now, this is completely unconfirmed by anyone, and we have seen many-a rumored Froyo release date on Verizon come and pass sans update, so take this with a healthy dose of skepticism.

That said, we won't blame any of you Droid X users if you mash on the "System Updates" button (Menu > Settings > About Phone FYI) throughout the day. Just try not do get your hopes up too much, ok? As a DInc owner, I know the feeling far too well. Check out another picture past the link.

Pics from Droid X Owners: Rejoice the time is almost here...be ready less than 24 hrs

Edit: Bummer, this might be a leak

so my wifes d1 has the update what is so special about this? my x has 2.1 on it and i am happy with that. i am not seeing anything that i cant live without with 2.2

I still haven't figured out this amazing sense of entitlement by some of the X owners on this site. Just disheartening.

Sadly it is not just X owners it is people in general. Someone has to be first and it was not the X. And it very well could be the last offical update for the Droid. And unless anyone forget without how the Droid sold we might not be at this point right now. If anyone has the right to be upset it is those that have the Incredible. We have late summer for a time. Which really means anytime now since in 2 days we will be 2/3 through summer. Their phone has been out longer and has hardware that will support it and have been given dates that have all fallen through. And we could end up with 2.2 before them, atleast in an offical manner.

My Moto Droid woke me up this morning at 3:15 to tell me that Froyo had arrived.

Sat up and proceeded to install. The box with an arrow pointing down (wish I could have snapped a pic) started running. The system rebooted after @ 10 minutes.

I started playing around with it and got locked up, but I remembered one of the posts that said you should take the battery out and restart. I did and haven't had a problem yet.

So far, it's great. A few learning items, but the Forums have been fantastic in supplying information.

I'll keep testing and provide any info that I get.

Thanks to everyone.

Bob

PS - BTW I'm in South Florida, if that makes any difference.
