This will be the last time I will ever order anything that is back ordered. This is simply ridiculous. This is bad business for Verizon and Motorola as well. I'm very unhappy at the current moment because this situation with the phones has gotten out of hand!!!
The latest status update from Verizon. Before this status it was showing "Your order has been processed and will be shipped based on inventory availability and shipping method. You will receive shipment notification and tracking details via email", then their system went down, and when it came back up this is what it said "Here is the status of your order. Due to overwhelming inventory demands, your DROID X by Motorola order will ship on 08/31/2010". This will be the last time I will ever order anything that is back ordered. This is simply ridiculous. Before the end of the world. Maybe.
LOL, I agree with that statement. He should consider himself a lucky SOB. I ordered mine 08/13 and the 30th is the final date for me. So 5 days earlier than his order to get mine 1 day before his. Not that I am complaining or anything.i know. the nerve. you ordered on the 18th, knowing your phone would ship by the 31st. now, they have the balls to tell you the phone is going to ship on the date they promised it by. you want a piece of equipment that is in extremely high demand. that's just the way things go sometimes. when the new BMW M3 came out, i had to wait almost 4 months to get the one i ordered. 2 weeks is nothin.
they made a promise to you, and they're delivering on that promise. i just dont see the problem. if you werent willing to wait, you never should have ordered it. i could see all these complaints as being valid if verizon wasnt coming thru on their commitments, but i havent seen one single case where they didnt deliver as promised.
BTW, I am now getting the same status message as you are. I am willing to bet that Verizon changed the message to prevent the senseless daily calls to them, because the caller failed to understand that the ship by date, meant just that. The latest status update from Verizon. I see where Verizon changed the "check order status" page sometime last night. It would probably have been easier to just ship the Droid X's in the order in which the orders were received. It's like getting on the waiting list at a restaurant and you sit there for 90 minutes while others wait 10 minutes, and you know they came in after you and had a party the same size as yours. If they are getting tired of customers' calling, maybe they should look at the reason why they are getting all of the calls.

When did you get your droid and how long did it take for you to recieve it?
With all due respect, why do you keep posting what amounts to the same thing in this thread. We get that you feel defensive when someone talks smack about Verizon, but this thread is the place for people waiting on their phones to vent a bit. Again, it IS NOT the amount of time we are/have been waiting. It IS that some have ordered and waited a week while others have ordered and waited 3. It's been said over and over again. Don't disregard these people and try to demean them because they are anxious to get their new toy. By now after 16 pages you would think we could commiserate undisturbed. We are not attacking you.
Some of your input has been valuable and I do appreciate your contributions in other threads, but you have not contributed anything in this other than try to shame people for complaining.
When I ordered the web site said ships by the 18th on the picture of the phone, it changed to the 25th, so whose to blame?
ok, i'm just frustrated with all of the bitching here. it's just silly.
let me try to rephrase. so many people keep using a restaurant/fast food analogy... so, let me try to put it in those terms...
Imagine a restaurant so huge, it had to service 100,000 customers in a night (it's not like 200 people have ordered the droid x, if that were the case, they would have gone in order). they would obviously have to have multiple dining rooms, with multiple kitchens, and multiple check-in/host stations. (there is no way one single warehouse could handle this huge flood of orders)
so, this huge restaurant is really busy, and at 8:30 3 sets of customers walk in to 3 separate dining rooms. they are all told it will be an hour wait, but the food is so great, none of them mind. customer a gets seated at 8:40, customer B gets seated at 9, and C at 9:15. there is even another customer that came into the first dining room at 8:45, but got seated at 9:10.
now, you see what i am getting at. with each dining room having their own waiting list, how hard would it be for this restaurant to make sure that, in total, each customer got seated first come, first serve? it would take an overhaul of the entire way they do things, and it would probably be far less efficient over all. you have to realize this is a company that services almost 100 million customers. if they were to truly do first come, first serve, EVERYONE would suffer. would you sacrifice efficiency in the name of fairness?
and keep in mind, i'm sure there would be trolls on the internet, posting about how they only waited 5 minutes, and even got their steak for free.
Do you already have your Droid X phone?
Do you already have your Droid X phone?
yes, and i'm one of the few people who waited longer than verizon quoted.
there were probably 75,000+ people who ordered after me, who received their phones before.
Man whatever. You have your phone so let us be. We are waiting and we want our merchandise. If Verizon and Motorola knew they were serving so many customers then they should've started making these phone a lot earlier and they should made enough because they knew the phones were going to see like they are selling now. Who cares if you are tired of the complaining. If you don't want to hear it, leave the forum because it's not going to stop. I want my phone bottom line. Oh by the way your little scenario about the restaurant was garbage LOL! Anyways you quit crying and let folks vent!!!
If I am given absolutely no notice, then how can I know when to be around to sign or when to leave a signed note telling them to leave the package at the back door?
nG
Naw my parents didn't teach me to be patient, but your Momma damn sholl did LOL!!! GTFOH <<<<< Figure it out!!! LMMFAO!!!
LMMFAO!!! You're the weakest link..... GOODBYE!!!
I had the same issue, returned item recieved on the 9th lucky you got your replacement right away! They told me that a new shipment was coming in on the 13th, but i must have missed out. Now my replacement is still "awaiting inventory!" Mpls mn ordered out of the Maryland warehouse! My first one I ordered 7/29. Received it 8/4. It kept rebooting, so I ordered a replacement 8/5 and received it 8/13.
