ordered phone online on 8/9.

have yet to receive any tracking number. website said phone would ship by 8/25 - so i'm going to wait rather than call.

gahhh darn the weekend... i haven't even gotten a response to my email i sent them last night.

went to verizon with my brother because we want to merge phone plans... but can't because i had a phone waiting activation. so have to wait until after i get my phone.

The latest status update from Verizon. Before this status it was showing "Your order has been processed and will be shipped based on inventory availability and shipping method. You will receive shipment notification and tracking details via email", then their system went down, and when it came back up this is what it said "Here is the status of your order. Due to overwhelming inventory demands, your DROID X by Motorola order will ship on 08/31/2010". This will be the last time I will ever order anything that is back ordered. This is simply ridiculous. This is bad business for Verizon and Motorola as well. I'm very unhappy at the current moment because this situation with the phones has gotten out of hand!!!

Did you read the news article I linked above?

i know. the nerve. you ordered on the 18th, knowing your phone would ship by the 31st. now, they have the balls to tell you the phone is going to ship on the date they promised it by. you want a piece of equipment that is in extremely high demand. that's just the way things go sometimes. when the new BMW M3 came out, i had to wait almost 4 months to get the one i ordered. 2 weeks is nothin.
they made a promise to you, and they're delivering on that promise. i just dont see the problem. if you werent willing to wait, you never should have ordered it. i could see all these complaints as being valid if verizon wasnt coming thru on their commitments, but i havent seen one single case where they didnt deliver as promised.

LOL, I agree with that statement. He should consider himself a lucky SOB. I ordered mine 08/13 and the 30th is the final date for me. So 5 days earlier than his order to get mine 1 day before his. Not that I am complaining or anything.

BTW, I am now getting the same status message as you are. I am willing to bet that Verizon changed the message to prevent the senseless daily calls to them, because the caller failed to understand that the ship by date, meant just that.

Zero guarantee that it will ship beforehand, but everyone fails to use common sense. I am willing to bet some more, that people kept calling them more than just everyday about it, figuring that too many calls will make them expedite someone's shipment or people escalating calls requesting expedites.

I see where Verizon changed the "check order status" page sometime last night. It would probably have been easier to just ship the Droid X's in the order in which the orders were received. It's like getting on the waiting list at a restaurant and you sit there for 90 minutes while others wait 10 minutes, and you know they came in after you and had a party the same size as yours. If they are getting tired of customers' calling, maybe they should look at the reason why they are getting all of the calls.

I know right. At least someone understands this process, unlike these other idiots here in this forum. Verizon and Motorola messed up this whole process, now they need to fix it. I fee you completely man. Just ship us our phones. One guy asked me if I read the article that he posted, yeah I read it, but all of that is probably some BS to try to put the blame on something or someone else. Long story short, just send us our phones.

With all due respect, why do you keep posting what amounts to the same thing in this thread. We get that you feel defensive when someone talks smack about Verizon, but this thread is the place for people waiting on their phones to vent a bit. Again, it IS NOT the amount of time we are/have been waiting. It IS that some have ordered and waited a week while others have ordered and waited 3. It's been said over and over again. Don't disregard these people and try to demean them because they are anxious to get their new toy. By now after 16 pages you would think we could commiserate undisturbed. We are not attacking you.

Some of your input has been valuable and I do appreciate your contributions in other threads, but you have not contributed anything in this other than try to shame people for complaining.

When I ordered the web site said ships by the 18th on the picture of the phone, it changed to the 25th, so whose to blame?

Hello all, just joined and have been reading this thread.

I began a new 5 line family account with Verizon, and ordered my DX in store on August 11th. My biggest problem, is that it seems I have absolutely no way to check on the status of my order at all. Nothing shows up in my VZW account online, and I have not received ANY e-mails regarding my order.

I do have my receipt still, and I called VZW last week just asking if I would receive any notice or e-mails with tracking numbers. The CSR told me she has nothing right now. I'm just extremely annoyed that I may not even receive any updates at all, obviously I'd be most interested in a tracking number whenever that is available. If I am given absolutely no notice, then how can I know when to be around to sign or when to leave a signed note telling them to leave the package at the back door?

Very annoying to say the least, but I shall sit patiently and wait. I just hope I receive my phone before I go on vacation for 3 weeks... I'm kind of counting on it for getting around (GPS/Internet wise).

ok, i'm just frustrated with all of the bitching here. it's just silly.
let me try to rephrase. so many people keep using a restaurant/fast food analogy... so, let me try to put it in those terms...

Imagine a restaurant so huge, it had to service 100,000 customers in a night (it's not like 200 people have ordered the droid x, if that were the case, they would have gone in order). they would obviously have to have multiple dining rooms, with multiple kitchens, and multiple check-in/host stations. (there is no way one single warehouse could handle this huge flood of orders)
so, this huge restaurant is really busy, and at 8:30 3 sets of customers walk in to 3 separate dining rooms. they are all told it will be an hour wait, but the food is so great, none of them mind. customer a gets seated at 8:40, customer B gets seated at 9, and C at 9:15. there is even another customer that came into the first dining room at 8:45, but got seated at 9:10.
now, you see what i am getting at. with each dining room having their own waiting list, how hard would it be for this restaurant to make sure that, in total, each customer got seated first come, first serve? it would take an overhaul of the entire way they do things, and it would probably be far less efficient over all. you have to realize this is a company that services almost 100 million customers. if they were to truly do first come, first serve, EVERYONE would suffer. would you sacrifice efficiency in the name of fairness?

and keep in mind, i'm sure there would be trolls on the internet, posting about how they only waited 5 minutes, and even got their steak for free.

Do you already have your Droid X phone?

Man whatever. You have your phone so let us be. We are waiting and we want our merchandise. If Verizon and Motorola knew they were serving so many customers then they should've started making these phones a lot earlier and they should made enough because they knew the phones were going to sell like they are selling now. Who cares if you are tired of the complaining. If you don't want to hear it, leave the forum because it's not going to stop. I want my phone bottom line. Oh by the way your little scenario about the restaurant was garbage LOL! Anyways you quit crying and let folks vent!!!
yes, and i'm one of the few people who waited longer than verizon quoted.
there were probably 75,000+ people who ordered after me, who received their phones before.

This is indeed the whiners thread. I have joined in momentarily.

A friend from another state, his parents own a Verizon franchise, and in their quarterly meeting they were told the shortage is being caused obviously by demand. But the problem is compounded because not only did Verizon not order enough in their initial order, but they also chose to release the phone early. So, Motorola is really having trouble trying to keep up...

follow your own advice, bud. i have just as much right to be here as you. if you dont like it, you're free to leave as well.

and look who is the 12 year old, calling my scenario garbage, with your little "lol". i am not the one who originally posted the restaurant analogy.
i know how the verizon dfill system works, and it's the best analogy i could come up with in terms people were using in their attacks.

either settle down, and debate this like an adult, or act like a child. i dont really care. at the end of the day, you ought to settle down a bit.

now, you'll get your wish. i wont come back here. you can whine in peace.

Why don't we try bringing some civility back to this thread?

I just received notification that my X has shipped.

Order Date: Friday, August 13th ~ 9:00pm
Order Location: Online
Promised Ship Date: Monday, August 30th
Shipping Notification: Sunday, August 22nd
Arrival Date: Tuesday? Wednesday? Unsure....

I guess I fall into the "about 10 days" group. Frustrating that you can't order it and have it right away, but understandable I guess with the popularity of the device.

I can't wait to ditch my LG VX8700!!

Do what I'm doing, I made a new VZW account in the store and ordered DX then, so I'm concerned about not reviving and email as well, so every other day (since it's 2day shipping" I call CSR and ask very politely if there is a tracking number yet, and just say thank you very much at whatever answer.

Naw my parents didn't teach me to be patient, but your Momma damn sholl did LOL!!! GTFOH <<<<< Figure it out!!! LMMFAO!!!

LMMFAO!!! You're the weakest link..... GOODBYE!!!

Dude, this isn't xbox live, I don't want to listen to 13yo kids talking smack and cursing at other people just cause they think it makes them look cool, it doesn't. It does though reveal the useful fact to everyone that you are not worth listening to as you are incapable of constructive thought. It's obvious your parents didn't teach you patience, or respect, or how to conduct yourself like a civil human being. Good Day sir.

My first one I ordered 7/29. Received it 8/4. It kept rebooting, so I ordered a replacement 8/5 and received it 8/13.
I had the same issue, returned item recieved on the 9th lucky you got your replacement right away! They told me that a new shipment was coming in on the 13th, but i must have missed out. Now my replacement is still "awaiting inventory!" Mpls mn ordered out of the Maryland warehouse!

Reported.

x2

i know i said i wouldnt post here anymore, but i want to take a moment to thank members like nynvolt, paycer, etc, who politely argued their side of this whole thing.

i was probably a little rough, and i apologize. i 100% understand where you are coming from, and i have no business trying to discount your frustration.
i am also ashamed that my posts came off as trying to shame people for their frustration. i apologize to every person that found any of my posts inappropriate. i want to be a contributing member of this community, and i think i lost those values in this thread.

thank you for keeping your arguments classy, and keeping this forum a civil place for people to post their opinions.

now, i really will leave this thread to the people who are frustrated about not receiving their phones yet. i do wish you the best of luck in receiving a speedy shipment.

My original X was ordered 8/3 was told shipping date of 8/19....received shipping info the 8th and arrived the 11th.

Unfortunately I was one of the 1% that had screen issues. Ordered my replacement 8/17 was told shipping date 8/31.... back to my storm 2 while trying patiently to wait on shipping info. *sigh*

-ordered over the phone with CS both times.
