Picked up 4G at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford NJ on Saturday night for the Giants preseason home opener. It was spotty but easily twice as fast as the 3G.

In my experience, Central Jersey is any town north of Cape May, and any town south of Mahwah, as apparently nobody wants to be called North Jersey or South Jersey anymore. I've seen people from Garfield saying they are Central Jersey.

Huh???? Cape May County is at the bottom of the state. Usually, anything above Toms River and Barneget is considered central Jersey. I live in Egg Harbor Township which is 5 minutes from Atlantic City and this is DEFINITELY considered South Jersey. Heck, even Camden is considered South Jersey...

I drove to Cherry Hill a few weeks ago and I got a GREAT 4G signal while near Wegman's. I didn't get a signal as I passed Deptford but then again I was traveling around 80mph so it might have blipped on and off...

I wish they would hurry up and put up a tower near Atlantic City so I can get a signal...

Yeah I hear you on finding that 4g. I got some this weekend while in orlando but only for a second. Cops are bad. From alt 19 to 52 i drive 5 over on bike or truck. not worth the hassle soo many of them and i dont feel like paying for tickets really.

Read elsewhere that people were getting a signal downtown. I went to investigate and picked it up going down broad street from the 71 ramp to COSI. I'm excited!!!

OMG... don't tease me! I live about a mile away in Olde Town East just East of I-71 between Broad and Main. I checked this weekend and didn't get a signal. I'll have to try I-71 exit and COSI area. I'd imagine that area would be hard to get a signal in with the building penetration problem with WiMAX.

I live near South Coast Plaza and there is 4G in that area. I get 2-3 bars of 4G when I am at home.

I am directly across the street from South Coast Plaza, and I get full bars at the Deloitte building (The tall 18 story black building across from South Coast Plaza). I was getting 5mb down/0.9mb up this morning, but at lunch time, went down to 1.42mb down / 0.42b up... heh, guess all the 4G users like playing around during lunchtime :)

Been checking my speed a few times a day here by the Stadium.
Its almost always between 5-10Mbps. Right now at 7.55 / .87 Mbps.
Been real consistant with those type numbers for over a week now.

Yeah, just being a little facetious. I grew up in Lakewood (right next to Toms River), went to school at Rowan University in Glassboro, and now live in Bedminster (Somerset County), and I always ran into people swearing they were Central Jersey, mostly because they didn't like whatever stereotype that part of NJ had.

If you drew a horizontal line in the center of NJ, Lakewood is pretty much on that line, yet people up here tell me its South Jersey. I tell them, they have a diner in their town that ISN'T open 24 hours, and therefore have no credibility on the subject.

But personally, I'd say once you pass Bayville on rt. 9, that's when you start getting into South Jersey, you actually notice the difference.

Drew, you wrote:

I downloaded Sensorly, but I didn't mark 4G spots I drove through?

You don't need to do anything special for the data to be sent to Sensorly. If you are looking at the map on your screen you will also be sending data. The "Map in Background" option also also keeps you sending data while on other applications.

What I do, since 4g is limited, is to leave it off at home to save battery. When I am going to be driving around, particularly a longer ride across town, is to turn on GPS and 4G, activate Sensorly and put on "Map in Background" mode. Usually I switch these back upon arriving a my destination. This allows data to be collected when they will make a meaningful contribution to the map.

As of this morning, no coverage is shown yet in South Florida, but it can take a day or two for them to compile everyone's data. If many of us use it, however, we should start getting a good visual indication of the progress of 4G construction.

...Sam

Ahhh.. they finally added the coverage I drove through.. nice info :)

I get 4G on International drive if im outside, weak signal though. It goes away indoors.

I get full bars over on john young and 50.

Hoping 4G reaches Kissimmee / South Orlando.

Depends what area your in here in newark at my house i het 1 bar if you go more toward downtown u can get full coverage probably from new yorks tower but anyways i get about 3.5mb up and 600down

I've gotten 4g service at university hospital (next to cincinnati university) since last monday. Speedtest was 7 meg down and 1 meg up.

Quick Question:

When 4G is finished being fully deployed in a city is it able to penetrate walls better or is this a problem no matter how strong the signal is?

Thanks!

I've gotten decent signal (2 4g "bars") in Newark near the airport up till about belleville on 21. I also noticed the 4g notification on the approach to the GWB.

its here, and its range is growing.... hopefully it gets far enough to cover my house.

This is a good sign that it's downtown as well. I wonder how long before the city is totally covered...I work around High and NW blvd...no 4G there.

Caloy, what part of NJ are you going to be at?

I already have been there Last June 19-23. :)

But there was 4G in Newark Airport. If I remember correctly I had about 3 Mbps just outside the airport then.

Here were the pictures I took from NJ, Pennsylvania, and New York.
