Is your Eris fast enough

See you looking to prove a point, I on the other hand have made mine. The Eris drags if you ask it to do many things at once as indicated by other responses. I hope a software upgrade helps but the 528MHz Qualcom processor will never be as fast as the Moto or Dragon. Any other self appointed software wizards feel free to chime in;)

Of course it won't be as fast as the Moto Droid or the Passion. Again, you make no sense in that regard. You're complaining that something with a slower processor isn't as fast as something with a faster processor. My Tacoma isn't as fast as a Ferrari. Um, OK....

The problem with the Eris may very well BE the software. We won't know if or until we see an Android update/upgrade. Who knows. In the meantime, I'm not disagreeing that the Eris lags a bit. That is a fact IMO.

Your signature image is too large and breaks the "flow" of the forum. Can you be kind enough to resize it so its less wide?

Also, to stay on topic... The "Droid" is also laggy at times. It definitely is not "perfectly" smooth when scrolling lists or switching between screens. Can that be fixed by future optimizations? Of course. Can the Eris "feel" faster to users with future optimizations? Of course.

Have I seen my Eris lag? Yeah, like TWICE in the almost month I've owned it. It's performance is perfectly acceptable. If you want a Droid, get a Droid. The end.

Thanks for letting me know my options:rolleyes:
I dont hate the Eris but I have a low tolerance for internet assclowns.

Don't look too hard in the mirror then. Just look at your comments. You have already written the phone off. Just exchange it for a Droid and be done.

As far as the software making the phone faster, ever wonder why your spanking fast new computer slows down over time? And that when you remove all the spyware and other BS, suddenly it's downloading aand loading much faster again?

There is a lot that the software can do to speed up things, by managing the applications that are open, and how they run, etc. Yes, faster processors are faster, but I'd take a slower processor running clean than a faster one running bogged down.

I am not overjoyed with the Eris, and plan on telling Verizon they need to extend my 30 days past the first software upgrade or I'll cancel now. But don't talk out of your ass when people disagree with you. You sound stupid.

Using the Moto as a comparison really has you Eris Fan boys twisted. If I wanted the Motorola phone I would have bought it. I really wanted a phone with the Dragon but I will settle for the Eris till it comes out. I will be happy to sell the Eris to one of you when the Dragon does come out.
Above all I must give thanks to all the people providing me with message board guidance, not sure how I got this far without it.:D:D

Attempting to fix the sig size issue:o

That did it. You could probably go as wide as 600px and not mess up the set flow of the page. Thanks tho -- those of us with 1280px wide (and smaller) screens appreciate it. :)

How does me telling you, "If you don't like a product, take it back", make me an internet assclown ?

All you've done is b!tch about the phone, so again, I say take it back, all your problems solved !

Did you not realize this phone was running 1.5 whan you bought it ?

To me , what little lag I see on the Eris, is far more tolerable than the brick-like feel of the Droid !

And if theres a software upgrade down the road, it's just icing on the cake !

Typical assumption of someone who doesn't want to face the truth.

As stated above, I am not in love with this phone, and am debating going to a Droid before my trial is up.

However, that doesn't change the fact that your statement was wrong.

I asked if this phone was laggy or fast enough and Im wrong??? Man you just cant give it up. Here is the Truth, only because you asked for it.

sometimes it seems to fall behind a bit, .

I am returning my Eris to Verizon today. I have done everything I can to make the phone faster.
But it is simply not fast enough.
The design of the phone and the software are excellent. The hardware it runs on is just too slow.
I'm debating on switching to a Droid or waiting for something better.

I too have used the Eris for over 2 weeks now. The lag with apps and calendar are very noticeable. Possibly some OS optimization can help but I fear that the processor may not be up to speed for this device. -

When I want to make a call, I want instant response, and it tends to lag noticeably.

I do find it to be a little slow,

Wrong, and avoiding the topic.

I never said the phone wasn't laggy. If you actually read what I wrote, I have NEVER said it wasn't. I think that there are plenty of times where it's laggy, and I'm disappointed in that.

I merely pointed out what you said:

Why do people think a software release can make a processor that runs at a certain speed suddenly run faster.

was wrong. And when told you were wrong, by multiple people, you denied it or ignored it.

Software updates CAN speed up the device. They do not change the clock speed of the processor, but they make the device faster by making the processor run more efficiently. BTW, you said that you'll be tossing it in the trash if they "don't come out with 2.0 or upgrades". How does that update the processor?

So think we're fanboys all you want. But what you said above was wrong, sorry. Point is, your attitude sucks, calling people ass clowns making your points sarcastically.

Isn't this site called "Phandroid"? What exactly would one expect to find here in the "HTC Droid Eris" subforum but fans?

DUH.

Only lag I notice is when rotating phone to landscape. As far as internet speed , your only as fast as your connection.

Also seems battery life is actually getting better for me !

I agree that the phone lags when switching sreens. But otherwise I have found it acceptable over the past 3 weeks until yesterday. Yesterday everything was slow. Then I realized that I had not used my app killer in a week. I zapped all the open apps and I am back to original speed.

I just posted in another forum about an app that has nixed my lag issues.... http://androidforums.com/android-applications/22563-am-i-crazy-does-actually-work-home.html

Check it out

Out of all the apps I've tried so far handcent seems to slow down my Eris the most. I'm not sure why but the keyboard feels espcially laggy with it installed even when I'm not using the app itself.
