Android 2.2 [Froyo] Bugs and Questions - Post em Here

Has anyone else been having this problem. You go into your stock messenger and lets say you have a new msg there and a couple of old ones for other people. You click on the new msg but it goes to one of the old msgs from one of the other people that you have already looked at maybe a day ago. Mine has been doing this for two weeks now on and off. It is starting to get on my nerves. I did the force update the same week it was posted up in the forums. I have done a factory reset since then and it has not help me out in any way.

I completed the manual install of FRG22 (rooted). I am now being offered the OTA upgrade to Froyo.. Do I have to spend the rest of my life clicking "remind me later" or do I have to install this or what?

I am re-posting this, because It happened again last night, and I can't get the phone to work this morning, doing some very strange things.

Since the Droid update this past week, my battery has drained completely every night, even after being fully charged and running app killer shortly before sleeping. I did leave the browser open last night when I set it down. I have left many apps open before, and it would never die overnight.
Any thoughts? Have others experienced this too? It has definitely been draining much faster since the update. What else could it be, I have checked settings and everything seems normal.

Battery usage shows 72%-Voice calls and 16%-Android OS, 5%-Display, 3%-Cell standby, 2%-Android System, 2%-Phone idle.

Model number: Droid
Android Version: 2.2
Baseband version: C_01.43.01P
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9-g103d848 Android-build@apa26#1
Build number: FRG01B

Thanks !

Since updating my Droid to 2.2 late Sunday evening, I have lost my Exchange calendar and my Exchange email is no longer syncing ("unable to connect to server"). Does anyone have any insight?

The Exchange calendar is now incorporated into the blue Calendar app that also syncs with Google Calendar. Many people have had connection issues; I did not. Try doing a search. Good luck.

This may have been posted, but I didnt see it. I apologize if Im blind.
Anyway, since upgrading to 2.2, it can take up to 5-10 seconds for my home icons to load after hitting the bottom soft touch home button. I cant load the app tray during this 'freeze' either. Very frustrating!

I manually upgraded to 2.2, loaded the beta flash, but thats all I have dont differently since the upgrade.

One other small annoyance... at times, my icons in my folders will double up. I open a folder and I will see 2 icons for each app. I have to reboot to clear. This also happens at times with beautiful home widget as well, but I chalk that up to being a widget.

Anyone else seeing this? More importantly, does anyone have a solution?

Thanks!

My Yahoo email notifications are no longer working after the 2.2 update for the built in email application. I've done a factory reset and it doesn't solve the problem. Notifications are on, but it still doesn't show up. I've tried the Yahoo application, but don't want three apps to check three different emails. My Exchange work email notifications are working perfectly though. Any one else having the same issues?

I am also having a "Connection error" pop up when I manually refresh the account, doesn't matter what folder I am doing that in.

running launcherpro.

videos from youtube won't play.
videos in act 1 video player won't play.
videos in gallery won't play.
moving from portrait to landscape freezes or blacks the screen out.
swipe to unlock takes several times/inaccurate.

i'm so pissed. i really want my old phone back....

I'm using an older Moto H700C earpiece. The voice dialing worked once or twice, and then reverted back to "long press" = redial last number. Also, when it worked, it seemed to cause the phone to connect with the bluetooth function not selected on the call screen - so I then had to pick up the phone and press the bluetooth option on the call screen. Really bazaar . . .:mad::confused:

Update: My even older Plantronics 220 seems to have the hang of it.

I just got my update this morning, ad ever since, I cannot run any progrmas whatsoever. Everything I try to run creates a need to Force Close! It's happend with Opera, Launcher, even the Settings. HELP!

Mine did the same thing at first -- seems it was the browser app eating all the memory. I still have the problem (must be caused by certain web sites?) so I've been using Opera & Dolphin more and everything has been pretty stable. Still hoping for a fix for this.

Ever since I forced the upgrade on my motorola droid to froyo, I can't find a lot of apps in the market. For example, I was looking for TiKL, and I got a result that it couldn't be found. So I tried it on my wife's phone (also a motorola droid running froyo) and I found it right away! Anyone else experiencing this? Help please!!

The factory E-mail app crashed on me today. When I re-opened it, all my e-mail accounts were gone. I had to set up the accounts again from scratch.

I don't have the doubling up problem but I do have the freezing problem. I've tried removing widgets, which helps a little to installing FRG22 which helps not at all. I'd go back to 2.1 if I knew how. I mean, I love being able to access the Global Address List on my Exchange server and I suppose the extra desktops are nice but I can live without Flash on my phone. So. Anyone have a solution for this problem? Or a link to a way to get back to 2.1?

Thanks in advance.

Yes! Although mine usually does this when I'm exiting Maps, Email or Vignette or something (I'm assuming) memory intensive. I've had it lock up/fail to redraw (during which it is unresponsive) as long as 70 seconds; making it nearly useless. With that kind of performance, I could have stuck with my WinMo 6.1 Omnia...

Does anyone know if MyBackup backs up Pictures and Files stored in downloads folder on sd card?
I don't see an option to backup pictures or downloads. But I question why would you back these things up? They are on your sdcard already, if you want to preserve them, copy them to your computer. Unless you mean back them up to the online backup server? You don't lose anything on your SDcard when you factory wipe.

I'm with you. The video fail with 2.2 is a showstopper for me. I really like the phone and love the video qualities available in 2.1, so I downgraded back to 2.1 last night using this thread and things are back to the wonderful way they were...

Some people can get their video to play on 2.2 using other players or encoders. I couldn't get the other players to work (audio and video would play at different speeds). But it should just work as it did before, IMO.

Desperate times call for desperate measures...

I've got two annoyances on 2.2...

The first is bluetooth handsfree calling. I have a BT handsfree link in my car, built into the stereo. It works to answer and place calls just fine, like it did before 2.2. However, after the call it leaves the phone unlocked and on. This is a problem as it's usually in my pocket and I've butt-dialed people and had it edit contacts and such. Is there a setting somewhere to make it not unlock the phone? This is a serious issue because WA state just passed a handsfree cell law and they're enforcing it strictly around here. If I have to pull out the cell and turn it off/lock it then that defeats the whole purpose.

The second issue is with my Motorola Rokr BT stereo headset. When I use it with Pandora and press any of the controls on the headset, it not only controls Pandora (usually...) but also launches the media player. So I get two instances of music going at the same time, not fun. Happens even if I kill the media player process, it just launches again. Everything worked fine in 2.1.

Just thought I'd share my 2.2 update experience. After the first update, when I opened the app tray, it would only list 1 page worth of apps (alphabetically), so either the rest weren't there, or the scrolling didn't work. After the 2nd update (FRG22D) which I forced yesterday, this hadn't changed so I finally gave in and tried a factory reset. The good news is that it worked and I can now scroll through all my apps in the app tray.

But it didn't come without a price , and there were some minor inconveniences and annoyances that came with the factory reset (not counting having to re-synch accounts, and reset ring tones, etc.).

1. I lost BitBlocks, which was a tetris like game. I didn't know that Google had removed all unofficial Tetris games from the app store so that only the official one (which I've read isn't that good) would be available. So when I did the reset and my phone started to re-download all my apps, this one wasn't there any more to be downloaded.

2. On Toss It pro, I lost my records (I was up to 300 on one of them), and on Raging Thunder, I lost all my unlocks (stages and cars) so I have to go through that again (but that's not so bad since its a fun game). Luckily, all my Robo Defense data was still there.

3. After the first update, I wasn't getting 3G at work for a week but I assume it was a Verizon thing since I got 3G in other areas, but its happening again after the 2nd update, so I'm not sure what to think.

4. I noticed if I turn the phone off, that when I restart it, the wall paper switches back to the standard Droid wall paper it had when I first got the phone (I normally use Aquarium live wall paper). It just takes a few seconds to reset it, but like I said these are just annoyances and inconveniences, nothing major.

My updated Droid wasn't horrible. Everything worked but the battery life was dismal. I performed a factory reset after making sure I was backed up to appbrain.com.

After reset, the only thing I had to do manually was restore my home screen shortcuts. AppBrain restored all available apps automatically.

The battery life is significantly improved and everything else is a bit snappier.

Our subcontract IT guy is a rooted Android user and he fixed my problem with the Exchange server security certificate so I am now fully synced with the Exchange server.

Is anyone having camera problems with 2.2?

I seem to be having the focusing issue now (that was an issue on 2.1), which is weird, cause I didn't have the issue earlier....pictures are coming out blurry or having a hard time focusing after the half-shutter press, or they're coming out too dark.
