I hate to say it but i might just have to wait till it hits my dinc.
 
I downloaded the google link, things went well...all good, phone is fast...linpack and quadrant scores are as expected...but adobe flash player 10.1 isn't working. i went to m.flash.com and it said i don't have it installed, but i checked all installed apps and its there. is there something i'm missing here?

Updated with ZERO issues.

Download this file:

UPDATE FILE

Rename to update.zip

Move to the root directory of your sd card
Note: if you use ASTRO, the directory will be named:
/sdcard

Reboot in to HBoot by powering off your phone then powering back up while pressing and holding volume down+power at the same time.

Select "Recovery" by pressing the power button

Once in Recovery press and hold Volume up + Power button

Navigate to "Apply update.zip from SD card" and select it by pressing the power button...it should take a few minutes to load.

Once install is complete, select "Reboot"

Once the phone is rebooted, and starts back up, you will see the new "Droid" launch screen.
Note: this may pause for up to 30-60 seconds and then continue. If it freezes, do a batery pull and power back up. It will pause again and then should go through just fine!

I encourage you to do a battery pull at least 2 times today. The first, being directly after you install and have a successful boot up/run and another at the end of the day. This will clear the system cache and speed things up.

Hmmm...I did this and it worked...assuming the new "Droid" launch screen says "droid" and shows a circle with two buttons...

So this is exactly the same as what is being pushed...and if there are add'l updates, they'll update normally? I haven't rooted (or bricked, apparently) my phone?

Ok this what I did.

Clicked on the link.
Renamed it to "update.zip"
Saved.
Once done downloading... it was in my "Download"
I moved it to the main sdcard directory.
So now its at /sdcard/update.zip.
Powered down.
Pressed and hold the Volume Down and Power button.
Menu came up. Scrolled down to "recovery" pressed power button to select.
Saw the triangle with the exclamation mark.
Pressed the Volume Up and Power buttons.
Menu came up. Scrolled to "Apply using sdcard"
Hit power button. Started reading.
Got "invalid argument" It tried again and same thing.
Finally after 10 attempts it said "File not found" "installation abort"

I did this with many sources...and ways. My current system is 2.1 with software version 1.22.605.2

So can anyone help me!?

I moved it to the main sdcard directory.
So now its at /sdcard/update.zip.

I've had weird problems trying to move files with Astro too. I miss Total Commander for Windows Mobile. I moved mine using the laptop and disk drive on the Incredible.

So I take it you do not have the July Radio update that enabled the HotSpot and 720P video? This may mean it's not related to that OTA for me and possibly a different problem. I have Software version 1.36.605.0

Feeling ******ed here but ok, NOW what, when plugged in, using my laptop the there is no root folder on the SD card...

Just click on the sd card drive in My Computer and drop it at the bottom where there are no file folders. That is the Root Directory. Hope this helps.

Ok...I'm not sure how thus help me lol. If you can please elaborate...how can I know if I have that May update? When i check my firmware, it says 2.1-update 1. I don't see 720p recording or a hotspot icon anywhere. I thought that's what this OTA was all about.

Understood, was confusing myself by looking at the ROOT directory in astro by backing out too far, I guess this is the ROOT folder for the phone, hence the reason I was unable to move or copy there, DUMASS!!!!
 
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for your step by step instructions on installing the update.zip. It worked perfectly. I should have waited until I got home because now I won't get any more work done here at the office.

No I was refering to a leaked OTA that came out here on the Forum in July that enabled the 720P video, Hotspot, and the Droid SPlash screen. You should already have the May update. My Baseband was the leaked OTA from July, it is still 2.1 but with a new Radio and the above features. I wasn't trying to confuse you but I thought mine was not updating because I had this leaked OTA but there might be something else causing a few of us not t be able to update with the Update.zip.

Edit: DO we need to have a clean sd card? Mine is the VZW 32gb card and it has all of my folders on it. I know those trying to root said that certain sd cards did not work for rooting but not sure if thats the case for the update.zip 2.2 OTA.
 
if you guys go into settings, about phone,software information, and check software number.

it needs to be the 1.22.605.2 ...
has to be this in order for the update.zip to work.
 
decided to give this a shot, downloaded it and renamed the file to update.zip before saving... went to load it on to my sd card, and no-go....-shrug. i guess ill just wait to get the ota.
 
Iv downloaded the link have my phone plugged in and from there im a big frustrated dummy. should we be in HTC sync?? iv enabled disk on the phone but have no idea how and where to drop the file.?
