The Official "Can someone please get us an Update.zip" Thread.

if you guys go into settings, about phone, software information, and check software number.

it needs to be the 1.22.605.2 ...
has to be this in order for the update.zip to work.

So how do I get this build number when not rooted? is this stock 2.1 build? Does this mean the OTA will not work when it comes?

That's the most recent OTA that all non-rooted users should have unless you've manually changed it.

If that's not what you have, you can go here to get the phone ready for the FroYo update.zip.

i updated using the update.zip but once i unlock my phone it just sits there and says loading with a message at the bottom that says this feature does not support current system version. did i do something wrong?

follow the super easy steps on this link:
Manually Update DROID Incredible to Android 2.2 | Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

you shouldn't have any problems

Thanks but no.....

step number two says this- but there is no explanation how to do this-
when i plug in my phone and open the removable disk drive:j i see a bunch of stuff but NO SD card?

where do i drop it and how do i find it(on the phone)

((((((2. Drop the file on the root of your SD card. (Meaning, don’t put it in any folder.)))))

So, what do you do when your version is 1.36.605.0 not 1.22.605.0?

I just got a PM from another dude in the same situation as yourself. I don't know anything about that leak. I keep away from leaks after the Droid Eris crap. are you rooted, that'd be a lot easier. like I told him, I'd figure out how to downgrade that leak to 1.22.605.0 or 1.22.60.2, pref .2 then you can use the update.zip, but at least if your at .0 we can work with that too. unfortunately I'm useless when it comes to the leaks.

No root here. Tried many times but couldn't get it to work.

Now I did apply the update from about a month and a half ago.

I've seen two requirements listed for using the .zip file:
Software/Build should be: 1.22.605.2
Baseband should be: 1.00.03.04.06

Is that what you see when you go to Menu > Settings > About Phone > Software Information?

Just did it worked great. It does hang a few times so just be patient.
It sat there with the eye when it was rebooting and that scared me because it sat that way for about 5 minutes. But all seems good.

You could go to that page on your phone, download the file, then use a file manager like Astro to move it to /sdcard (not a subfolder).

But I think this is what you're wanting to know - you've downloaded the file on your desktop/laptop and are looking for where to drop the file, right? Well, when you plug your phone into your computer and select "Disk Drive", 2 new drives show up. One is the phone's internal memory - it'll be about 6.59 GB in total size. The other one is your SD card.

Just drop the .zip file onto that drive, not a folder on the drive (that's the 'root' of the SD card).

I just finished the process - it took me just over 20 minutes from start to finish!

K got both drives open- j and k ....

lets try this

Oh..... Crap.....

I dropped the file right on the j first. the k next when it failed. still wont open. i see the file after i drop it however i keep getting failed to load.

after i drop it do i have to move it with astro?

Been lurking around since a whisper of the update came around. Just like to say thanks a ton for posting the links/instructions/uploads to get me on 2.2!

Absolutely love Froyo! Quick and snappy, for sure.

you wrote awhile back that you named it "update.UNzip" ... it should be "update.zip" ... was that a typo or is that what you're trying to install?

EDIT: Also, your SD card is the removable drive that has a BUNCH of folders in it, your phone should have minimal (5 or 6ish)

ok i found the file in astro and for some reason it was listed as update.link or something like that... changed it to zip and a little box appeared.

trying again.;)
