The little things...(2.2 Update addons/changes)

I wanted to also agree that my phone has been snappy as hell. and I don't know if it's a placebo effect, but the battery seems to be lasting longer. I havent made any changes, or left out any programs that were installed prior to the update, so it wouldnt be that. I'm going to verify and monitor for the next few days and see if my battery is actually lasting longer or if it's just in my head. However my phone is really fast, and I'm only using ATK to see what's actually running, and if there are any rogue apps causing issues and so far, so good.

To those of you who claim the phone is lagging after the update, I heard that restoring apps via certain programs will cause issues since they are not linked back to the market...which for some reason is clashing with the OS and causing slowness.

when I updated. I manually installed my apps back at the market and did not do a restore. I had app brain ready to go, but I saw that some people had issues with getting notified on updates after using a 3rd party program to reinstall their backed up apps, so i manually installed.

Maybe there is a similar situation going on here? Perhaps all the people that are having slowness issues restored their apps using astro or app-brain or something similar ?

A few questions for you guys:

1. I thought there was a new gmail widget or something like that? It seems like the same old icon to me, there is no gmail widget in my list.
There's a couple new HTC Mail widgets you can select. Not gmail.

When you select the old HTC Mail widget, there are now three types of widgets to choose from vs before when there was only one.

Umm...have any of you used Pandora today? I usually listen to it towards the end of my work day and it has been HORRIBLE! Skippy and bad audio quality where it used to be great. What in the heck happened? I am going to leave in about an hour and will listen again during my commute home and hope that this is an isolated event.

I listen to Pandora all the time and if it keeps acting up like this I am going to freak. It used to work great at my desk (before the OTA this morning to Froyo).

Any other people experiencing this?

No problems for me - but then again, I DIDN'T update to 1.4.1 when it came out due to privacy concerns when it wanted to access my contact list. So 1.4 still seems to work fine.

For those people that didn't want to do a factory reset and was experiencing the lag in the typing like I was, what I did was power my phone off, then took out my battery and my sd card and left the phone off for about 5 minutes. Then I put my sd card and battery back in and then powered the phone back up and when I started texting my lag was not there anymore. You can give it a shot and see if it works for you too! Hopefully it will

browser lag is killing me. Especially on big websites that I zoom in on and then try to move around. Just jumps around

No lag here - and I didn't factory reset. But I am using Dolphin browser.

So far, LOVE the flashlight app, and I just tried the Hotspot hack - AWESOME!!!

I'm using Launcher Pro and Beautiful Widgets - all seem snappier and having less FC's thus far.

Is there a way to send a picture in 2.2 without it being a slideshow? When I sends pictures like that my wife cant download them. In 2.1 the pictures were just inserted into the messages and worked great.

tried the Dolphin HD and while it does scroll much more smoothly, it takes forever to load pages

I already posted this but never got an answer, maybe someone can help me here.

So I'm curious. Why isn't the ATK needed on 2.2 but it was one of the most popular apps on 2.1?

Also, will it be needed on the X after the upgrade? (father, sister and soon to be mother from the org droid. i got all 3 of them off blackberries :D)

HTC stock music player is still shit. Music Mod is perfect, works awesome. Keeps that awesome Android stock look to it.

Just tried this app...Its killer awesome. I was using Stock and thought it was just better than others out there (but still kinda sucked). Music Mod is great!

i thought were gonna have app launcher with 2.2 and by that i mean the dock on the bottom with the 4 or 5 icons. and i just have the default HTC one instead still, does anyone have same issue

I really like this background but don't want it to be "live". Anyone have a link to just the plain .jpg of the image?

I found this solution on the forums here, but have not tried it because I haven't gotten a popup.
Dial ##7764726
Hit Call
Type Password 000000 (6 0s)
Hit Feature Settings
Choose CD ROM
Click Disable
Hit menu, commit modifications (it will say no item changed)

Is there a master list of these codes and what they do somewhere? There is like this whole secret access to using the DINC. I feel like I am missing the boat here....

if you're speaking of what i think you're speaking of, then the answer is no. that's only for the vanilla version, the incredible uses HTC sense UI

Well I've got it ... Swype is still working but that might be because I'm using the one with the red skin. Have some playing around to do still ... haven't noticed a whole lot different yet.

I think I may do a factory reset ... it's bugging me in the back of my mind that it would probably play better all around if I did ......

Even something you use frequently shouldn't be too high on there ( EX, most things I use frequently are only a few minutes of total CPU time. Sense is sitting around 7 mins atm. ) If you find something that is just going crazy, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling, but you may need to just find a replacement.
Main issue is some of the apps I have installed, (i.e. - Scanner Radio, Sports Tap, YouTube, The Weather Channel, etc) are RUNNING when I unlock my phone even though I did NOT invoke them. I can understand the bloatware running and restarting on their own, BUT WHY ARE MY OTHER APPS FIRING UP, TOO????

I'm seeing these open a lot more now too, but I haven't seen any impact to battery life. I've just been ignoring them.

Just a wild guess here, but does anyone think it may have to do with the market doing automatic updates now?

Everything seems OK....but wait...I usually push the menu button to open the screen. That doesn't work now. I need that. Old habits are...well you know.
