Anyone with newer phones seeing this change??
 
LOL.. That's great. I'll admit it confused me for a second or two when I first looked at the inside of the phone. Glad I wasn't one of the many that pulled their battery compartment liner out of their phone.
 
Oh that's great that they've changed it. Now that makes more sense! It tells you what it's for and to also... DO NOT REMOVE
 
Once again....Moto does listen to the consumers..sometimes....lol

Now if we can get them to unlock that bootloader....

Seriously, they acted quickly with this. Hats off to em. Many of us just posted about this a few weeks ago, saying they shoulda had something like this on the tab.
 
Good for them!!

Now the next question will be whether or not they produce retrofit kits so Verizon can update the DX's (both new and FRU) they have in inventory.

I never understood how someone could misunderstand "DO NOT CUT" for "RIP OUT OF THE PHONE". Honestly, the only logical explanation was someone thought it was one of those pull tabs that separated the battery from the contacts, but 1) the battery was not in the phone (or at least not in mine when I bought it), 2) it takes a hell of a lot more force to pull that stationary tab out of the phone then it would a tab sitting between a battery and the phone contacts, and 3) the contacts were not anywhere close to where the tab was, so theres no reason anyone should have mistaken that tab for one of the tabs you are suppose to pull out of the phone. But, thats just my opinion.
 
my wife's droidX came in the mail today and had the little warning on the tag. good because i know i woulda been one of the idiots to take it off.

Boy, now do I feel stupid. I got my phone two days ago and it had the old tab labelled only "Pull". You have to pull two other clear covers off the phone and it only seemed natural to pull this one off as well.

Just FYI it took hardly any force at all to pull the tab... that's because the whole bottom label comes out with it. The bottom label is poorly glued to the metal casing underneath. That said, I have to admit I thought this was a strange step I had to take before installing the battery.

Oh well, luckily I stuck the "pull" tab to the clear label from the front. It pulled right off since the glue isn't particularly strong and now it is back in my phone! :-)

P.S. A tip for others who have made this mistake... a credit card will slide nicely between the battery and the left side of the housing. Wiggle back and forth a couple of times and the battery will pop right out.

Well that was a bit rude and insulting.
 
I've seen literally about half a dozen YouTube videos where a user is recording an unboxing and they just rip it out without a care in the world and continue on with the video.

One guy tried to pull it and noticed there was some resistance. He ended up just going, "Ahhh hell with it I'll take care of that later," and continued on. I quickly commented telling him to make sure he doesn't rip it out and he thanked me later. :p

The constant watching of YouTube videos is what actually brought this whole situation to my attention in the first place. As a result, I simply already knew before even getting the phone. I honestly don't know if I would have ripped the tab out if I hadn't known beforehand, but thankfully I don't have to worry about that.

Speaking of YouTube videos and the DX, does anyone know why I can't seem to upload my recorded 720p videos from my phone to my YouTube channel? The files are well under 1GB, they're shorter than 10min, and I'm using WiFi. It doesn't matter what application I use, what Internet connection I use, or what the properties of the video are. It won't let me upload anything at all. It gives me some lame error message about only being able to upload over WiFi, (even when I am) the file size is too large, the video is too long, etc. What am I doing wrong?

Are you using a built in APP or through the browser???
 
"The browser," as in the YouTube app? Or do you mean the Internet browser? As I said, I've used multiple applications, including directly via the YouTube app, without any luck.
 
Even though mine has the updated pull tab I still hate it.

Anyone else's battery fit in extremely tight? I pulled on the tab so hard I almost ripped it with the battery in. I mean seriously the battery fits in TOO tight, making it almost impossible to get it out.

Anyone else have this issue?
 
Yeah, mine had the old one...

My GF was the one home when my phone came and decided to be nice and plug the phone in.

Bad news. It also had the old pull tag on the phone. She was not aware of the issue with this.

Thank god she kept the tab along with all the other information in the box. Though I had to pop the battery out with a butter knife to get to put that back in.

The clear covers come off with ease, while I did not remove my battery pull tab, just from watching the video it seemed to offer at least some resistant and did not come off with a flick of the wrist like the clear covers.

Sorry for being open about my opinion then. Maybe some people were just too excited about their X to pay attention to their actions, but I took my time to ensure I didn't do something wrong with my phone, which meant reading things and taking a second look at everything before getting the phone up and running.
