Root Droid Incredible 2.2 Officially Rooted

2.2 OTA killed my battery, so I'm looking to do a factory reset. Since I'm going to do that, I figured might as go full blown and do root as well. This looks like it will be my best option, since I won't have to downgrade to 2.1.

[11:02] <@matt_mastracci> yeah
[11:02] <@matt_mastracci> we'll put out another call for testing once we are more confident
[11:02] <@matt_mastracci> although we may have to put a warning on it that 1/1000 phones may experience some problems after..
[11:03] <@matt_mastracci> which sucks, because that's the same failure rate as an OTA probably :)
[11:03] <@matt_mastracci> but we don't have the luxury of saying we are official. ;)
[11:03] <@matt_mastracci> will keep everyone posted tho
[11:03] <@matt_mastracci> in the meantime, the downgrade root has never had any issues that we've heard off
[11:03] <@matt_mastracci> heard of
[11:03] <@matt_mastracci> even though it includes nearly all the same pieces
[11:04] <tur42keys> Hmm
[11:04] <tur42keys> Strange, but that's development lol
[11:04] <@matt_mastracci> yeah
[11:04] <@matt_mastracci> that's why we say root always has a small chance of something going wrong
[11:04] <@matt_mastracci> even though we test on a thousand devices and see no issues
[11:04] <tur42keys> Yeah
[11:04] == wags [b84d48b5@gateway/web/freenode/ip.184.77.72.181] has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
[11:05] <@matt_mastracci> although i was pretty confident considering the total number of issues with unrevoked 2/3.x was zero

They only pulled it because of the EVO.

There have been 0 bugs on the Incredible -- a bug on like 2 EVOs caused the pull.

OK. I too have been waiting for the OTA to root, but when my OTA finally came through I started getting the "low on space, Phone storage space is getting low" message (which it is not). Tried to install the OTA and it failed.

I am still getting the error message on and off now, so I am going to wipe the phone and start fresh.

My question is: Should I 1) root on 2.1 using forever and then install the OTA for 2.2 (or manual install if that doesn't work), or 2) go ahead and install 2.2 and wait for the new unrevoked for 2.2?

Or any other suggestions for that matter.

Thanks!

I'm getting ready to install the drivers for Google's App Inventor - it includes adb and drivers for the phone - does anyone know if these drivers/software will interfere with unrevoked drivers? Would it be better to root first?

Can anyone pm me the 2.2 root? This is my first time rooting and I would like to try it tonight before I swamped with homework when class starts tomorrow.

Thanks!

Well I decided to take the plunge tonight after having 2.2 about a week and see there is no way to do it yet since it has been taken down! Ugh I need this now as I have a long road trip coming up and I want to tether wirelessly!! Damnt!
