help me defend android

So I have a friend who is an Apple fanboy. My last phone before switching to Android was an iPhone. My buddy is trying to peg me that Android is no good. I told him it does everything.... He immediately came back with "Can it run iOS?" I think thats dumb... but can it?

I don't think so but why would you want it to? If that's the best he's got, you've already won the argument.

I use both iOS and Android daily.

Who cares? Just sayin'...

PS Start with the notification system. :D

Why would you want to defend it?

You're using what you like.

He's using what he likes.

The world continues to spin on its axis.

Wheee...

On the subject, my company sends proofs so the customer can review what they need. I received an order with a different sig every time,

"Sent from my glorious black iphone4"
"Sent from my awesome ipad"

I use thunderbird on our boxes here at work but just for shats and cackles I replied via my X, which contained my nice little embedded logo.

His response, "I can't see the attachment, my phone won't recognize it"
My reply, "Oh sorry, I replied using my cell, let me convert it so you can view"
His response, "Oh I see, what was it originally?"
My reply, "Flash"
His response, ":("

This understandably confused him, hes contacting support now wondering why his Macintosh product won't play flash...

ha ha

It's funny how Apple fanboys always end up getting beat around in the end. OUR COMPUTERS HAVE NEVER HAD A VIRUS. "Thats because only 200 people own them and nobody cares enough to give them a virus".

Uhmm.. Hes an idiot.

Can an OS run an OS? Of course not.. The hardware is MORE than capable however.

First off.. iOS is like a canvass that is restricted to only 2 colors. Android is like a Huge wall with 256 colors available.

Android is open source and the limitations are in the hardware, where as with iOS the limitations are all in the software.

Apple doesn't hold a candle to Android. The only thing Apple has going for it is it's clean/stylish interface.. which I will say is spectacular. I have an itouch and an iPad and I love them, but I would never trust them with my cellphone... esp. because they're locked to a single, crappy network.

That's not true.. Anyone can get a virus on any OS if they're not smart with their use. However, I'm not here to Bash Apple. I have a Mac and a few Windows, and when I do webdesign (Flash, Photoshop, Video Editing, etc.) my choice is Apple all the way. It's just so well at handling those aspects of technology; lets not kid ourselves here. The only good video program I have found for Windows is Vegas (Which is pretty awesome btw). But yes, that's the beauty of America and the Free market; We don't have to CHOOSE one, we can use both for their strengths, and avoid their weaknesses.

Just my $0.02

All the best,
Eric

This guy at work always says how much he loves his iPhone and the phone sleeps between he and his wife. Yesterday he's going after my DX again with the story about iPhone users have more sex than Android users, apparently thinking he's nailed it this time.

So I asked him, how could you have more sex when your phone is between you and your wife? do you mean they are actually talking about sex with their phones in that article?

K.O.

I think arguing would just be dumb. A good come back of course would be why would I want it to run iOS?

I know you're probably on the defensive, and not the offensive, which is how it should stay. Every once in a while whip out the SNES or something like that if you guys like old school games and ask him how Apples SNES emulator is.

Or if you're confident enough, next time he gives you shit, just challenge him to a test or something.

I mean it isn't a huge deal, but I really don't see the comparison. It does everything iOS does and then gives you the freedom to do more. Maybe it doesn't have 1 bazillion apps, but if he brings that up, tell him to go into the market and look at how many are "lite" versions and how many are just straight up crap.

like everyone else, no it cannot run iOS

However with 2.2 on Dx it will run flash ;)

You're arguing about a matter of opinion - there really will never be a winner.

Just congratulate him on having a phone he's happier with and say that you are just as happy as he is with your phone.

Agree to disagree, it's not worth arguing over.

You are the most likable person ever <3

Android doesn't need to be defended from Apple. It can take care of itself. It's taking over. It's Apple that is going to need to be defended here soon. LoL

Whenever arguments like these arise, I like to think of a quote by Friedrich Nietzsche:

“The higher we soar, the smaller we appear to those who cannot fly.”

Let your iPhone friend bash Android all he wants, he'll never know what greatness he's missing.

I don't think you will find many "android fans" that would say they think I Phone hardware is not great. Well besides the proprietary connector and non removable battery that is. What I am trying to say is, If you really think IOS is so hot, then run an I phone. I have never seen IOS on an android handset but They have put Android on the last two I Phones. That says a lot in my opinion: Hardware= good, firmware+ not so much. Now with the Droid X, EVO, Galaxy S, Droid 2 Epic 4G there are plenty of stylish power packed hardware packages out there for android so if you want android, buy android. If you Want IOS, buy an I Phone or an I pad
