Root Brand New Froyo 2.3.13

So bottom line... if you want the newest thing, here it is... if you are happy with 2.2 with some rom then you should stay? Correct? I don't see the reason to head to 2.3 considering all the problems.

Party Pooper:rolleyes: Please remove yourself from the "all things Root " threads:D

I kid. Seriously this is only a minor update at best and probably the final. With that said I'm sure the method to update will get refined in the next few days so waiting might not be a bad idea. Just know that all the real men and one Bot are updating now LOL

As soon as my backup is done I'm flashing.....maybe:D I can be a wuss sometimes and besides I like my theme.:D

So did everyone just slap this on top of FlyX or whatever else they had going at the time? In other words do I just pull the trigger on Choose zip from SDcard?

I have a clean nandroid backup of 2.2 and I'm thinking it may be best to go back to that and then update. What do you guys think?

Not to get off topic, but if I create a nandroid backup will this copy all system settings, apps and such? ( I tried the search first but nothing specific).
Thanks!
Odie

tried fly x yesterday and it made my phone lag, i believe birdman is releasing a new one and P3 finished tranquility 2.3rc so he will update later today i guess

The kernel version is still .32 which I thought was 1 rev short of the>256 mem fix as well, so I think this is just VZ fixes only. MMS time is fixed for me though

this has been discussed a lot on here and again the android sdk 2.2 states this:

2.6.32 kernel upgrade

  • HIGHMEM support for RAM >256MB
  • SDIO scheduling and BT improvements
there is no mention of .33 anywhere neccessary

But if you only restore system they wont have to worry about doing a factory data reset.

This is what I'm planning to do once I get it downloaded and have a chance to mess with my phone. Has anyone used Retrokid's nandroid yet? How did it work?

So is anyone else having trouble re-rooting? Using the Droid 2 method, when I start to push superuser.apk I get the error "failed to copy "Superuser.apk" to /system/app/Superuser.apk: Read-only file system" If anyone could help I would really appreciate it!

If I use the nandroid above and just advanced restore just the system, will I keep my themes?

I think so. Give it a shot and report back to us. ;) Just make sure you do yourself a favor and backup your current setup first so that you can revert back in case it doesn't work like you expect.

I think the framework is in /system/framework so it would get over written unless the person who made this backup had the same theme I think it would be gone.

uhh, is jit disabled in this? im not even getting 1000 in quadrant and i was around 1500 previously

edit: nevermind, for whatever reason on the 5th plus attempt (i did wait for it to warm up) im getting 1475+ consistently

Everyone seems to be having problems. I had 2.2 rooted w/ flyX and tranquility 1.5 and REVOlution theme on this and it installed fine. I cleared cache and data first install. Root wasn't lost. I still haven't any major problems upgrading and such either, thank god.

The only dumb thing I did was go to install flyX again, which put it back to the old leaked froyo. I realized I shouldn't have did that halfway through it's installation.. :( but i just installed again over it, cleared cache, but didn't wipe data and everything was working again. I also reinstalled REVOlution theme and put the modified build.prop I got from rom manager back on(at least I don't think I hallucinated this, I did it at 7am with no sleep.)

You need to redo the mount step (its usually one of the first steps) and pay attention for errors.
