Root Brand New Froyo 2.3.13

How so? Can you elaborate on just how it is better? Im having lots of problems trying to fwt it and I just can't get it. Don't see what im doing wrong.

The battery life is much better and the phone just feels like it's running quicker and smoother than it did with 2.2. Since installing it things have been working flawlessly for me.

I've been trying to download the nandroid 2.3.13 but im not having very good luck. Is there a different set of installing instructions for.that one?

Just download it, unzip it and place the resulting folder into the backup folder that is located in the clockworkmod folder on your sdcard. Then with the droid x bootstrapper app open it and press bootstrap recovery, then reboot recovery. Once it's booted into recovery select backup/restore, then restore, then scroll down to clockworkmod and select the file you downloaded.

Can't he do an advanced restored and just restore the system? Or will this not work for his situation?

As my signature indicates, I already have the earlier 2.2 leak.. The point is that apparently since this new leak is an actual OTA version it would put me back on track in that regard, correct?
If that's true, then I definitely do see a point in this.

I got the impression that loading this would take you further away from "stock" than closer.

If this is loaded are you indeed back on track for OTAs?

I believe he can, I didn't do it that way so I'm not 100% sure it will work, I did it the way I listed and didn't experience any problems. If he is on 2.2 he can back up all of his apps/data with TiBu and then just restore them.

Did this and it worked!!! Thanks!!

Then don't do it. What's the point?

Just go to the 2.2 earlier leaked version. Much easier than loading what's effectively a full ROM here. I don't think the differences between the 2 leaked 2.2 versions are great enough to just not get to the first version safely and wait for the real release.

if you want the OTA release you can't even be at 2.2 at all.

Well to start with it is only a small update as the version number would indicate. However on my phone those small things are big for me.
My Wifi is finally staying up and not constantly disconnecting and as Air said my battery life is GREATLY increased. I unplugged last night at 12:00 and as of now 1:30 pm my battery is at 70! Granted a lot of that was over night and limited to no use by me but what I am getting now I would never had before, not even close.

I like to unplug it at night so I can see if anything is keeping it from sleeping but it still normally drops about 20%, but the last few days it has held steady over night and in some cases not dropping at all.

As far is smoothness and speed I'm not sure it's the 2.3.13 update or the new Tranquility but its running quite well now and my Wifi stays connected and my battery charger is getting a little break.

So this small update has been big for me but your mileage may vary though.

So will this work if your coming from 2.1? Will this method update the Kernel, sorry if this is another dumb question but basing this question off the last response that said I need to be at 2.2 first before I update.

If you do ROM Manager and select the 'Stock Images'->'Verizon Droid X 2.2', then you can go from 2.1 to 2.2. Just make sure you root your phone in 2.1 if you're planning to do that.

Ok, so I'm guessing that the ROM manager method will also not allow me to upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 then, cause that would be too easy?

And you would be incorrect:D The reason we love ROM manager is it makes things too easy. I also believe the version in ROM manager is already rooted
