Root Brand New Froyo 2.3.13

Anyone figure out what causes 2.3.13 to revert to 2.3.9 (at least in the "about phone" info whether or not it really reverts I don't know. I guessing it doesn't really revert but something is restoring the version number

factory data reset, only restore missing user apps

Ok... Did that. It fixed the missing lights on the physical buttons..

However, I checked the app drawer right after the reset and found I still had two versions of Gallery and two versions of Email. Strange...

Also, Motorola Torch LED is also listed now. I never had it installed before. It shows up on Market as needing an update, which fails to install if I try to do it.

I manually reinstalled the important apps I wanted using Titanium Backup and everything seems ok now... Thanks for the help.

It has something to do with the build.prop file, exactly what or why, I'm not sure.

I have the moto led also and I can't update or get rid of it. I removed it with Tibakup and it's still shows. I can' update it I can't uninstall it and when I force it to uninstall with Titbakup it still there. It's like a virus. I'm going to try freezing it next.

Just delete the file with root explorer, that worked for me.

Edit: I just restored my initial backup (before I started removing apps) of 2.3.13 and tried using TiBu to remove MotoTorch and it removed it just fine. It is not appearing in the app drawer and does not show up when checking in Root Explorer.

Hm, just noticed... Yesterday I sbf-ed, install fresh 2.3.13, rooted with droid 2 method, and now I have a lot of .odex files in /system/app

I tried to purchase Root Explorer from the market but my card keeps getting declined because they're in the UK. I had the same problem with Beautiful Widgets and it was a headache to get my bank to authorize the charge.

Is there any other way?

Not that I know of, I wonder why it can't be completely removed with TiBu.

Edit: Is your name on the card in all caps? I know sometime you have to input the name exactly as it appears on the card for it to work.

I'm wondering if maybe I did a restore later on. Anyways I've decided to just use it and uninstalled the other flashlight app. I mean do I really need 6 flashlights on my phone anyway?:D

I have two car homes though and when I go to Tibakup it shows 3 total. Two are 2.2 and one is like 1.2 I removed on 2.2 and it stopped working all weathering. Very odd what's reall od is these car homes aren't the one that opens when I actually place it in the dock...WT?

I had two Music and I uninstalled bit but I still had them in the app drawer (I probably should have tried to use one but didn't think of it until right now) :D

But then again I may be getting confused with all the deleting restoring and just plan old monkeying around I've been doing on this thing. :o

Best gizmo I ever bought!!

Now anyone know why I have a sync icon always on when I'm not syncing anything? It doesn't do anything like run the battery down but I'm getting tired of looking at it.

You probably themed your "Not syncing" icon to match your syncing one :p

This is due to a bad restore of an app from TiBu unfortunately. I had the same issue so I did a data/cache wipe and now it's gone.

I got it off there. It still shows up under "Downloads" in market, but not as being installed.

As far as the card goes, it's an overseas thing. I had to call the bank last time to make them push it through. A big headache to spend $2.

I had a similar problem before and entering my name with all caps, like it appeared on my card, took care of it. At least you got rid of the MotoTorch.apk.

After upgrading from 2.1 to 2.2-2.3.9 (Using Rom Managers Stock Verizon 2.2) to 2.2-2.3.13 (Using Rom mananger and the nandroid zip) I am finding duplicate applications on my phone.
Can anyone advise:

For apps with the same version usually one is newer, and one older, because one is not backed up and the other is. (Unless stated otherwise below)

I have:
Backup Assistant 1.0 & 2.2 (safe to remove 1.0?)
Calendar 2.2 & Calendar 2.2 (Differnet Icons)
Carhome 2.2 and Carhome 2.2 (both new, same icons, neither states it was backed up) - potentially one is from 2.3.9 and one is from 2.3.13?
Email 2.2 and Email 2.2 (different Icons)
Gallery 1.1.30682 & Gallery 2.2 (safe to remove 1.1.30682?)
Music 2.2 & Music 2.2 (Different Icons)

----- I do not see any duplicate apk's in the System/App folder.

Any advise on what to do to clean up the above? I want to make a nandroid backup before I flash any roms.

Has anyone who's installed 2.3.13 tried checking for a system update? I get "system update is not available without a motorola service account". Not that I want the update or anything I'm just curious if anyone else gets the same thing.

You can remove both of the backupassistant.apks and buacontactadapter.apk.
Removing blurcalendar.apk and blurcalendarprovider.apk will leave you with the newer calendar.
Removing cardock.apk will remove the older car dock.
Removing bluremail.apk will remove the older email app.
Removing mediagallery.apk will remove the older gallery.
Removing music.apk will remove the older music app.

Do all of this will Root Explorer and either delete the .apk file or rename the .apk extension to .bak. You will be left with the newer google version of the apps.

does that wipe your apps? or just data? I used to do app+plus system data but as noted it caused problems. Now I just do missing apps and data. Damn Tibkup is Too good it actually resotres too much stuff. Maybe I'll try MyBackup for the restore. next time.

Speaking of the Market if I uninstall something I don't want the Market downloading updates for it and basically reinstalling it. How the heck to you sync the Market to only update what you have installed?
